Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB RESORTS Information & Questions

A couple of days away from online checkin and I have some questions - for sure we're requesting a full balcony, but I'm not sure what to put for our 2nd request.
We really want a refurbed room - I'm assuming the 2nd floor will be done by the time we go (Aug 22)? If not I suppose I would request a higher floor as my 2nd choice.
If I don't need to worry about that one, what would I put so that we're close to transportation?

:cool1:Congratulations, Disney math always works out. There is the food savings, drink savings, extra square footage with the lounge, less stress of room assignment knowing you will be on the 5th floor somewhere, the ability to book that 4th FP via text (time IS money in Disney).
. This is so true. We had not booked CL but got an awesome pixie dust upgrade to it and now I'm afraid we're spoiled! DH said if we were ever able to come back it would only be if we could do CL. It was so helpful to have the extra space and access to breakfast, snacks and drinks. My youngest said it was his favorite part of the trip! I definitely think it would be worth the $$ but I would not do a DP if I was doing CL (too much food!). Have fun!

We are finally in the single digits! 9 days until Poly CL and then a week later we will be at our first BC CL stay! Woohoo!

I saw something on the TiW FB page about a gathering on July 12th - a lunch I think? Has anyone heard any more about this or received an invitation? It might be something that we want to do but I feel like we always miss out on those things! TIA!

Teena, Bob and Jeanne have landed in Orlando!

Hooray!

:woohoo:
Finally! Yay!

There may be a place to check close to transportation on the online check in, or you could phone reservations and have requests noted on your reservation. Less limiting then your choices with online check in.

Luckily I have been using "Disney Math" for years. By the time I'm done explaining, DH's head is usually spinning!

This was to be our first nob CL stay at BC. Just couldn't do it!

Welcome home Teena!

Robyn - From one Disney math expert to another - I knew it was just a matter of time, ...that draw to CL can be strong! I am so happy you are all set and happy.

With you all on the Disney math! Gee honey, if we switch from CSR to BC over the NYE holiday just think of all the time we will save not taking buses to the parks, being able to walk back to the resort after NYE...(and honestly, when we stayed at CSR last year it really wasn't that bad bus wise but just sayin"...)

Ok I need advice! Currently we have a regular room booked at beach club resort for our family of 6 ( mom, dad, 4 kids with one under 2). We have the opportunity to get a 1 bedroom on the villa side. Now, I know the new rooms are suppose to have a pull down murphy. Ideally, the one bedroom would be SOOO much better for our family than the standard room. Do we think that by our trip[ ( Sept 19-26) chances are that they will have at least some of the villas done and ready for occupancy? I would love to move us to this one bedroom if we can swing it logistically.
You won't have the Murphy bed but if you are renting points then you would be able to bring an air mattress with bedding for the third child and use the pack and play for the one under two. If you have a cash reservation then you won't be able to get a villa with five people plus one under two years old. For some reason DVC rentals have different occupancy rules.

We received the custom cross body purses yesterday!
The purses are adorable.

Almost all the rooms will be finished by Aug 22nd so I would worry more about getting a full balcony. I always like to make the full balcony my only request, since it is the hardest one to get, and I don't want to give the room assigners an opportunity to give me my second choice instead of my first. :)

We were upgraded too, and they got us! DH and the boys don't want to go without being CL. The extra space seals the deal for me. Being the only girl, it's so nice to be able to send them all out so I can get ready and clean up!

I'm doing FP+ & on-line check-in tonight. Location isn't our top priority but a full balcony would be nice & a daybed essential.

I know that it is possible for a party of 5 to be booked in a room without a daybed & given a rollaway, but does anyone think that listing it as a request will increase our chances (it's pretty much they have one available when we check in or they don't).

I'd kind of like to keep our requests at just 'full balcony' thinking that maybe if we have only one that it will be fulfilled. I might be overthinking a bit, but both our online requests & a fax went ignored at POR in March & I'd like to up our chances!

The balcony is definitely our number one choice - I had been debating making it the only choice so I'd be more likely to get it, maybe I should stick with that :)

Thank you!! So if we were going to go from December 19-26, would the discount only apply to the first few days? I remember when Disney used to honor a discount for your whole length of stay it applied to your check in day.

I like the sounds of so many people being upgraded ;) Fingers crossed, but we'll be happy to be in WDW no matter what!!

With the sounds of everyone wanting full balconies, I wonder why this wasn't part of the refurb? I know it would've been much more extensive, but I think they could've kept the charm and theming easily.

Just be careful...a full balcony could be on the third floor gravel beach

What does that mean???
In 2013 we had a room on the third floor with a balcony. It was about 2 feet above the large portico in the front of the resort

We called it our beach. It was a large expanse of flat roof covered with gravel

Loving our stay at Beach Club Villas - so close to Epcot, I have forgotten! (5 years is too long!)

Its just too hot... really for me, its too hot! Went down to Hurricane Hannah's for a burger and a Sunken Treasure. Asked the one bartender if he could make me one, and he said, "no" (which is fine) but the other bartender overheard and said, sure, no problem, then he quietly and discreetly told my bartender how to put it together - I just loved that! And yes, I walked my burger and Treasure back to my room!

Our first half of our stay was at WL, CL - and I have to tell you those beds are heads and toes above any bed I've slept in at Disney - seriously, it was soft AND firm - firm enough that dh didn't move when I rolled over (nor when I tried to shake him when he was snoring - the bed didn't move) and yet, it didn't feel firm, nor soft... it was a "JUST RIGHT" bed!! And I miss it here at Beach Club - so if that's what they are doing in refurbing the rooms - then I say - hurry up and get the beds in! It will be so worth it!
