Disney's POLYNESIAN VILLAGE RESORT Information & Questions

I am so happy that you had a fabulous vacation, even though it started out a little rough with the flight delay and unappreciative kids.:(
We did a split stay between Poly/BC in June and loved both resorts so much! Polynesian was first and we got our request, Figi 3rd floor room 3321 but our view was blocked by a palm tree. Boohoo:sad:
Our Beach Club room (3517) overlooked the quiet pool and was near the secret stairway, loved this! Was able to be in Epcot in 5 minutes. After eating lunch at Chefs de France we decided to go back to our room using the back entrance, and we almost stepped on a snake! He was about 4 feet long and was taking his time crossing the sidewalk. Lol. It was kinda funny cause every time we used the walkway my scaredy cat DH and DS(21 yrs old) made me go first to scare away "Blackie" In case he showed up again!
I think we will always do a split stay again because it was like having 2 different vacations. Did you like your split stay and would you do it again? My DH wants to try a Grand Floridian/ BC stay next time, but my heart belongs to Poly!

I would definitely do a split stay again! I will probably do one every trip now. It truly was like having two vacations! I wouldn't hesitate to do Poly/BC again. I would love to do GF/BC split just to try a different monorail resort.

We were on the magical deal this trip which helped keep room costs low. We want to go November 2017 during F&W (Jersey week). The magical deal isn't offered during this time so we will probably do a moderate or a moderate/BC split. But we were also thinking of doing Universal (3 days)/Disney (5 days) split. If it were just 5 days we would stick with one resort.

So much to think about! We would love to go next year but we have a wedding to be in and want to do something just us two without kids. The kids are going with their dad to Disney during Spring Break so they will be going two years in a row. So waiting until 2017 doesn't seem so bad.

When we were there in May by 7:30 they were packing up. Check the schedule but it should be every night. I'd say it lasts about 20 minutes or so. You must have shoes on so if going from pool make sure and put on your flip flops. Marshmallows only. Bring choc and graham crackers yourself.

thank you! very helpful info!

Can't wait to be there in December!

Your trip will be here before you know it :goodvibes.

Just checked into a DVC studio and absolutely thrilled with our view! 3rd floor moorea

Beautiful view! Have a great time :).

We are renewing our vows at Luau Beach in early January.

Congratulations! Hope you have a magical time :wizard:.

We had lunch at Kona Friday and spent some time just walking around the Poly, as we've never spent much time there and DH and I are staying a couple nights for the first time in Jan. Our meal was fantastic and even with the construction going on, it got me so excited to stay there :goodvibes

You will love staying at the Poly! We love everything about it, hope you have a great time in January :goodvibes.

3 more days for us :)

:cool1::cool1:

We returned Saturday from 5 nights at the Poly that were followed by 5 nights at the BC.

We checked into the POly after a 12 hour flight delay and got Fiji which we requested but 1st floor not 3rd floor. This worked out perfectly. We were in room 1320 which was right next to the entrance. We had a very short walk to the pool and GCH.

The rooms here are huge and we loved that. The bathroom was gorgeous. We just loved the Hawaiian feel.

We liked the pool but felt it was too cold. It's hard to find a seat here and lots of hoarding of seats. There were employees who came by and did clean sweeps of towels and freed up tons of chairs.

DD was stung by a bee and the lifeguards were all over it. Also a kid was coming down the slide and his dad was there waiting for him. The kid tilted back with his life jacket and lost his footing for a second and the lifeguard was in the pool and on it within 2 seconds. Dad was right there but the lifeguard was very quick. It was nice to see how on top of it they are.

We enjoyed the food at CC's. The pepperoni flatbread was a big hit. The dole whip stand is a great addition.

The grounds are gorgeous. Having the monorail right there is amazing.

We really enjoyed our stay!!!!

Glad you had a great time and enjoyed the Poly! :wizard:

I can not wait for our first Poly stay! Check in 37 days.

Hope you have a great trip! :yay:

My DH wants to try a Grand Floridian/ BC stay next time, but my heart belongs to Poly!

I'd give the GF a try! The Poly is our favorite resort, but the GF runs a close second for me :).

I would love to do GF/BC split just to try a different monorail resort.

There's nothing quite like the Poly for us as we love the tropical atmosphere, the pool, etc., but the GF is also great! I think a GF/BC split is a good idea ;).

We are renewing our vows at Luau Beach in early January. In our contract that we received from DFTW, it mentions the construction going on at the Poly. For anyone who has been there recently, do you think any of the ongoing construction would have an impact on our ceremony? I can't imagine it would, but am just curious.

There are permits that were submitted last month for work to be done to the exteriors of the original 8 longhouses. Since Disney has not shared the dates or the extent of the work with the public there could potentially be work on the longhouses next to Luau cove at any time.

They offered the deal for Jersey week this year, I don't see why they wouldn't do it for 2017 especially since the agency itself is in NJ.

Really? We had he Labor Day deal which was the BC at $202 a night. I'll be al over that for jersey week!

This agency offers a lot of deals throughout the year and I know there is one during Jersey week this year. Just be aware that the prices aren't as cheap as they are around Labor Day. We booked our June/July trip through this agency and paid at least $100 more per night than you just paid.

I will definitely look into it as the time gets closer. Thank you!

Not to sound uninformed, but I was under the impression that all construction would be completed by SPRING 2016- is this not the case? Planning our first Poly stay early May 2016. Thanks in advance.

LOVE split stays, we purposely do it to experience different resorts.:thumbsup2 Think that you would love GF too. Stayed at GF in December and thought it was "grand". Gorgeous during the holiday season!:santa:

That was the consensus at one point. Good thing for great resources like Tikiman and the DIS otherwise WDW would be able to keep us all in the dark.

Personally I would not be counting on that to happen.

People assumed that since the last communication Disney had with guests was the letter they created back in March about the East pool closing and being completed early 2016. The pool closed 3 months late and no mention of any of the other longhouse exterior work was mentioned in the letter. I am just going by permits that are filed and often the work is months away after the permit is filed. There were 12 permits just filed weeks ago for exterior work to the original 8 longhouses and other permits that were filed last year still have not had the work done yet.

Will I be allowed to park at the Poly just to go to Trader Sam's?

No, When you get to the guard shack they will look for your name under a room or dining reservation, otherwise they will not let you park there.

Where's the link to your thread? I have the Disney Blues and need some good advice! :scared:

Greetings from the Polynesian!

We checked in yesterday and I wanted to share the view from our room. Our only requests were for a balcony and to be away from construction, both of which were graciously answered as we are in the 3rd floor of Samoa with a pool view. The room is very large and beautifully decorated. You can hear the ferry boats and some noise from the pool, but so far nothing too obtrusive.

Our checkin went largely ok. We were greeted by a cast member at the bus by name and given leis and my daughter a flower for her hair. We had some credit card issues, but after a call to the bank realized they had the wrong expiration date. We never got a text our room was ready, so when I checked apparently the system was having issues with the mass quantities of magic bands Disney insists on sending us. She was able to get one working and later I had some very nice cast members help with the rest (my hubby had decorated a bunch for us). To boot a wonderful cast member felt bad I had to deal with all of this so he gave us 3 extra fast passes for anything we want to do today. We will be in MK and MGM so hello mine train and TSM! Will be sending Disney an email for all of his pixie dust.View attachment 121999
What is your room #? I love your view!

Yes! I'm getting more excited every day! I am just now packing for a cruise out of Florida, so I'm putting together outfits, keeping in mind my Disney trip. What to wear is rather perplexing because I read it can still be quite hot in November, sometimes hitting 80, yet the nights can be rather cool. So it seems I need to pack some summer and some fall clothing. I wish I had this dilemma more often....LOL!
