Official 2016 Star Wars Half Marthon - The Dark Side Weekend

Hi,

I have just registered ( accessing with my AP) for the HM and the 10k) This will be my first WDW race since my first WDW HM in 2011 but have just returned from the DL HM. Now to consider hotels. Might book Coronado spring and wait to see if the delux hotels open up with discounts

What time does the Expo usually stay open until on the first day of packet pickup? Wondering if I'll have time to pick up my packet after I land in Orlando.

Did you mean to register for the challenge?

Hi Ariel484,

On the passholders page the Challenge had already sold out. I suspect that by the time I get home from work on tuedsay when general registration opens it will be sold out. I'm not too bothered about the challenge medal ( it was $40 more than the 2 events separately) as in May 16 I will get the coast to coast medal after running the Tinker Bell HM in DL

Hi,

Well I'm slightly disapointed that I will not get the challenge medal but if I left it untl Tuesday I might not have got in at all and it would have messed up my plans for the Coast to Coast medal (coming from the UK it is a bit harder to plan everything) still it should be a great weekend. Now to worry about accommodation. The deluxe hotels are a little pricey at the moment but Coronado springs is looking good ( satyed there in 2011)

I can't believe the half, 10k and 5k are still open for early registration! I really thought everything would sell out immediately for this one. Anyone think this is a good indicator it won't sell out immediately Tuesday? Outside of the challenge of course - unless they convert some of these regular registrations! I was able to get in with the AP for the challenge as was my brother in law so we're now responsible for the two others in our group on Tuesday who can't register on their work computers. Hoping for some pixie dust!

I get that there's extra items involved, but the fact that the challenge costs more than 10K cost + half cost will always make me shake my head a little.

Based on how fast the challenge sold out, I have a feeling the reason the Half, 10K, and 5K have not sold out is because people who didn't get into the challenge are planning to try for the challenge on Tuesday, and then sign up for one of those if they don't get into the challenge at that point.

Try for the challenge and if you get in email runDisney for your money back on the first ones. This use to work and a lot of people did it for Doooey.

So you're saying that a medal and a t-shirt aren't worth $40? What kind of Disney runner are you? Now you've got me questioning my sanity in all this.

Right there with you!!!!

W&D 5k and half

Goofy

Rebel Challenge

Pixie challenge

Now considering researching princess so I can get pink c2c at Tink!

My husband either divorcing me or or sending me to the padded track. or .....GASP!

It's an addiction...I was only going to do ONE Disney race for my 'bucket' list, so far..

WDW 10k and Half
DL 5k, DDD
Wine & Dine
SW Rebel Challenge

Thinking about another DL race to get another C2C in 2016.

So we have a resale dvc closing (hopefully) in November but we're already past the 7 month window for booking. And will be way past it by the time we close and get access to our points. Should I book a room on site for the race weekend just in case there's no dvc available by the time we have access to it?

We are right there with you. We are currently in estoppal. Have they announced the host hotels yet? I went and booked yacht just in case DVC is full (or at least the places we would want to stay are full). We have never stayed there and with DVC coming, I don't think we ever will. And I figure if the other hotels at Boardwalk are a host (and I assume at least one is/will be given where the race ends), I can just walk to there to hop on a bus to the start.

Just wanted to make sure you knew. :)

we usually have our car since we drive in from Miami. But I'd like to stay at a deluxe resort but don't want to pay when we'll have dvc by then lol. I may just book a cheapy value resort and cross my fingers there will be a dvc studio or 1 bedroom available.

This is my first time registering for Run Disney. Where can you find the active link to register straight through active? Is it better to register through them or Run Disney? Any advice or help is appreciated.

I am sure there will still be a studio avail at SSR if nothing else :)

The links will be on the run Disney site before 12pm. They will take you to the active site to register but they won't be live until 12pm exactly.

That's what I'm hoping for. I don't even care which resort it is, as long as we get in.
