Wine and Dine 2015

77* and 100% humidity at my house (Tampa Bay) at 8am this morning. :scared: What happened to "Fall"?!

Here in NY it's currently 71 degrees, 60% humidity. Just went to fetch my lunch without even taking my hoodie. 4 years ago on this date we were under several inches of snow and had no power...

Ugh and it is going to be 48 tonight. This is why I get sick in NYC. At least growing up in Texas we knew it was going to be hot, hot , and even hotter. None of this moderately okay to freezing cold in a span of hours.

Yoga is like the first thing that falls off my schedule during training. :( It shouldn't be, but it is. That and strength training. Before I got back into running I was doing yoga once a week and pilates reformer once a week, and my core strength was a lot better. Now it's poop. :)

Same here, and my body has suffered because of it. After this race, I'm going back to a more holistic workout routine with 30 minutes of cardio a few times a week, weight training, yoga and one longish run of 6-8 miles. That will be my winter focus while it's too nasty here for much outside running.

In NJ right now - it was 65 when I ran this morning so I ran my 8 miler in a sleeveless shirt. Tomorrow morning it will be 35 degrees when I run. :upsidedow

Is anyone else super annoyed by the runner tracking sign ups? I signed up my brother's cell twice now and he still got no text notification. I also signed up myself via email and received nothing as well.

Print an old school, best & worst pace band and add corral time...This has never been perfect. Make a spreadsheet calculator. Welcome to 90%, 90% happy. Please stay away from Dismaland.;)

That might be close to race start temps. I hope it's that cool...71 degrees.

We do get an extra hour of cooling with Fall Back, time change, Nov. 1. Not sure how that fits long term predictions. If my logic is working correctly we get old 11:00 pm weather at the new 10:00 pm.

Yeah, I'm not fond of the rapid changing back and forth. I never know what to wear when I leave the house in the morning. I make a game every year of going as long as possible before turning on the heat, but I had to cave when it was like 27 degrees at night a few weeks back. :crazy2:

I'm happy I have a Nest Thermostat. Around this time of year I set it to the heat/chill setting and set the range. That way if it falls below a certain temp or goes above a certain time the heat or air kicks in. The worst is for my poor dogs. I came home the other day and our older pup was shivering because it was 40 and neither of us turned on the heat setting because it was 70 in the morning.

Must be a coastal thing. At least 60 (maybe even 70 now?) here in Western MA and a BEAUTIFUL day. Was a bit muggy earlier but it's starting to taper off....
So gorgeous out that I'm going to do something I don't normally do: go for a run after work. I live on back country roads so I try to drive to the rail trail but I know me- if I go home and have to drive I don't always make it. So I'm just going to go out my front door and see how far I go.

I skipped my long run Sunday, so I want to do at least 5 today, maybe 8 sat, and then 8 on monday. will do a little short 30-45 min on wednesday and that will be it. I may cut out an 8 because the past 4-6 weeks I've not been doing 3 runs a week so it's probably not a good idea to do such before the race. That's my goal anyway, to run that is, but who knows what'll actually happen?

If I could find a way to shut my brain off for an hour, I've been told I would like yoga. But, it's more like being stuck in timeout with a lot of really crazy poses for me. :confused3

Neighbor went and packaged up my mail to send to me today. Apparently our gift cards are in there, so looks like I will have those. We'll probably end up using them on the 6th, unless my Mom and I have already gone through all the food kiosks by then. :(

I will say the selections are AWESOME this year. And we've really only had a couple of items we wouldn't try again.

I actually prefer Yoga for just the opposite reason as you Keels- I can't meditate because my brain does NOT shut off (diagnosed ADD as an adult :crazy2: but not medicated by choice....and yes, I'm a doctor so totally, I can make that decision. And no, I didn't diagnose myself ) and yet, when I do Yoga, because you have to focus and focus on self so much, I find it very very spirttually rewarding and as mentally relaxing as if I'd meditated. I like flow and hot yoga (I think vinyasa, hawtha, and one that begins with an 'a' but don't quote me) because I also get that mental feeling of 'i did something' that goes with it. Plus, I totally feel worked out and stretched out the next day.

Sadly, like everyone else, making time for running, working out, AND yoga pretty much doesn't happen. Esp when I got to long runs.

What's your fave new selection?

I know it's not new, but I'm looking forward to escargot. LOVE escargot.

How does the tracking work? I don't actually want people to be able to track me because of a personal situation I'm going through. I'm sure run disney won't make an exception for me. But is that link active forever to look it up via name or just during the race?

No DR, South Korea, Africa or Brazil yet (just off the top of my head). We've been saving those for when my husband can join us.

Escargot Croissant from France

I may head out there this afternoon as well, but will definitely be there tomorrow and Saturday. I'll try the griddled cheese and report back!

SOLD! :cool1::jumping1::dancer:

First, they have to be signed up to track you. Secondly, if I remember correctly (unless it's changed since 2011) it only gives milestone updates. Like runner x has started, runner x has done a 5k or 10k, runner x just finished, etc. I don't think it's a literal live feed of where you are on the course. Be hard to do with 15k runners, I'd think.

Anyone can look up the results when they go live which will have your cross section times etc.

In previous years there was a fake map that would use your milestones to guess where you were on the course. Not sure if they do that every time or if it was just one race that had it.

People who sign up get texted or emailed when you cross the timing mats during the race. The link doesn't seem to go away... I just clicked the link for the signup that was in my Tinker Bell email from back in April and it's still there... although it's not really very useful now that the race is done. And of course the results themselves will be available indefinitely.

@flvy I think you're asking about 2 separate things here - the live runner tracking via email, texting, Facebook, Twitter, etc is what @sperkins921 is referring to - only milestone updates and only if you sign your or someone else's number/account up for it.

@wilkeliza is talking about the race results that are posted after the event, and if you look you'll see that results are available for every Wine & Dine that has been run (which I think is what you're asking about when you say "is that link active forever?"). No results for JJ5K as that race is not timed.

If you want your name taken out of the results I wonder if maybe you could contact runDisney/TrackShack and explain your situation? I guess the other option would be to wear your bib but take the chip out of the bib so that your times don't record...but then you yourself don't get any official results that way...:confused3

Technically removing your chip can disqualify you and they can take you off the course and you wouldn't qualify for Coast to Coast if you try for that later as they would have 0 proof that you finished.

@flvy Tracking only works during the race. It can only tell exactly where you are when you step over a mat on the course. There is no way it could track you for your day to day type activities or let anyone know exactly where you are if that is the issue. If someone accessed the site after the race they would just see race splits.

I didn't know that - it makes sense about C2C.

Yeah with out the chip they have no way of verifying you are a registered runner and not a bandit. They back of the big will say something like do not bend or remove the chrono-tag.

So those of you who are doing W&D and Princess Half, are you just jumping into the Princess training the week after W&D? I signed up for a local Half on Dec. 12th so I'm debating how to set up / keep up my training so I am ready for that. I don't know if I want to only have an 8 mile run as my furthest distance in the 4 weeks in between W&D and my local Half, but know that I do need to recover. I am using the Princess training program for Experienced Runners (finish in the upright position). Any thoughts?
