Official 2016 Princess Half Marathon Thread

I have not run since my half on December 12th. Here is what I am thinking about to jump back into training. Please feel free to comment and give me your opinions!

1/09/16 4 miles
1/16/16 6 miles
1/23/16 5 miles
1/30/16 8 miles
2/06/16 6 miles
2/13/16 10 miles
2/21/16 Princess Half

I don't want to do too much, too fast and re injure myself!

ETA: I plan on doing the 30 minute runs on Tuesday and Thursdays too!

I would say that the distances are good. I would not do the 10 miles the weekend before the half though. I would probably do it like this to give yourself that last weekend to rest.

1/23/16 8 miles

2/13/16 6 miles (or less at an easy pace)

They look amazing!! My husbands response was how much and do you have to have them.

My answer... Does it matter and.....duh, YEA!!

Yep, showed my husband and he said, "how much are those going to set us back"? He didn't say no though so that sounds like an ok!

I check in on Wed, the 17th, and I just got my Magical Express tags today! That was earlier than I was expecting them!

Thanks that does seem like a better plan!

Brrrrrrr! What a chilly morning! Which means I had to do my 4mi this morning on the treadmill - boo. But, the gym wasn't nearly as packed as I thought it'd be during the first week of the New Year, so that was nice.

I really, really wish they'd release the medal designs already. I'm starting to lose motivation a little bit, and it'd be nice to have that to get me through these last 6 weeks of training. Especially now that I'm really tacking on more mileage. As it is, I've already watched The Little Mermaid twice during my treadmill runs, lol.

My thought is to bump the 10 miles up to Feb 6 and then taper the 13th down to 6 or even 4/5 .... also slow your mid week runs from the 6th (after your 10 miler) through the 21 ... If you're doing 30 minutes each T / Th, do 20-25 the first week then 15/20 the second week leading to the half.

Just my 2 cents.

Brian

We are so close, don't lose your motivation now! :cheer2:

Wow it was a cold run this morning! -19 Celsius (feels like -23 according to weather network). Glad I have the PHM to motivate me or I'd probably look at the weather & choose my cozy bed over running.
Ran with lots of layers but can't stand my face covered. I have a funnel neck on one shirt so can pull it up as needed, but wearing a balaclava drives me crazy. Hoping this extreme cold won't last too long. Got spoiled by the mild winter we were having. Anyone have any recommendations for cream to put on face to act as a barrier on cold runs?

Keah…I am also going to defer the 10K. I diagnosed with cancer on Nov. 13, and I am scheduled to have chemo earlier that week, and there is just no way that my body will be able to race by the weekend, let alone train for the race. It is my hope and prayer that I will be recovered enough to race in 2017.

Do you know when deferrals open up? I emailed runDisney back in November and they told me it would be today (Jan. 5) but didn't give me a time.

Well ladies...I'm thinking I'm going to defer the 10K. It breaks my heart to have to do it, but I just don't think I'll be up to 6 miles comfortably by then with all of setbacks I'm having. Last year was so painful, I don't want to start that way again this year.

Thanks! And I hadn't thought to slow down my mid week runs... That would make it more fun the last week as I will already be at WDW the week before the race! We arrive on the 14th. :)
