Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party / Mickeys Very Merry Christmas Party Tier Pricing. SAD

I don't know what people were thinking the price would be when the After Hours event got priced at $149. MNSSHP (and MMVCP) have a lot more going on than the After Hours event. So in some small way, people should be happy that the tiered pricing didn't range from $90-$150.
However the park stays open till 2am. The party dates in the used to stay open till 1am. Last couple years now it's midnight. I'd love to have the park with only 3000 from 10pm to 2 am. IMHO this is not apples to apples.

For us, we've been to the Halloween and Christmas parties enough times that we're through with them unless the entertainment changes significantly. Just not that interested anymore especially at these new prices.
I have to agree. Been to both parties I don't see any changes . Kind of getting tired of seeing the same party over and over. Keep some elements but I'd would like to see some changes, parade, fireworks etc. Something. I DO NOT think MVMCP is as entertaining as the Halloween party. Due to the fact, park goers dress up and it's fun to see the costumes. The Christmas party once you have seen it once , blah. Need something new . Agree with your statement .

I always say disney is not a right to everyone. Even if they charged $110 a party, people would attend. Id rather it be high and less crowded.

Everyone always says this. There is NO guarantee there will be less crowds . Prices will go and more then half the people saying they won't go will go. They are just praying they can convince you because they are "boycotting " you will too. Then we will never know if they did or didn't go. Me , 7 adults ages (38-11) and 2 kids 9-8 I'll truly have to think about it. I was going to surprise my group , since I have some first timers going to WDW. It will cost me close to a $1000 .

It's my understanding that certain Christians and non Christians don't observe Halloween for various reasons. Our personal practice is to emphasize Halloween as the vigil of All Saints Day. We don't choose to include the satanic/ witchy/ demonic/ horrific aspects that have tended to be highlighted or celebrated over the past decades. But that's just our preference as Christians. Just trying to explain that not everyone observes Halloween.

It may not be apples to apples but is still all fruit. The hours may be shorter and the crowds may be bigger, but the tradeoff is the special events and opportunities. If you want a park with 3000 people that is open until 2:00, (though not all DAH events go that late), then you buy that product. If you want a more crowded experience with shorter hours and parades and stage shows and fireworks and characters, you buy that product. Personally, I think that the pricing for the two different products should be comparable---and be around $75.

I agree. DAH at $75 with a limited number of tickets sold would be more reasonably priced. If I go to MNSSHP, it will be September because of the price.

But people are willing to pay and for some it works out in their favor. Definitely for those who would be purchasing a one day ticket anyway. DAH is ideal for them. And MNSSHP is also a win for that guest too.

The way I rationalize it..... I compare the actual pricing of the park.
So.... one day ticket in Sept. is $97 for a single day.... includes 12 hours in the park (hours 9a-9p), parades, fireworks, shows, rides, etc.
wouldn't it make sense for a MNSSHP ticket be comparable..... but take into consideration the shorter time frame! .....includes 5 hours in the park (the advertised 7p-midnight timeframe!) parades, fireworks, shows, rides, etc. .....
So if you take the $ per hour..... the MNSSHP should cost about $40!!! Or for those that would argue that you can enter at 4p (even though that is not the official time) which would be 8 hours then the price of a ticket would be $64.60. So for the prices in Sept..... not too far off.
But for October...... a little out of hand... IMHO! Regular price for one day ticket is $102. So for 5 hours in the park it should be $42.50 or for 8 hours = $68!
I think the pricing for Oct is way off track! Hence the reason I will be going in Sept.
That's my $/hour to $/hour comparison. :)

I intended to buy a Christmas party ticket rather than use one of my non-expiring park hopper days. When I saw the ticket price ($96.92 on Dec. 1), I decided I'll use my 5-day MYW ticket for my early December trip - at just under $60/day.

I mentioned elsewhere that I paid $69.18 for the Christmas party on Dec. 7, 2012 - a Friday night. That was the advance purchase price, and I don't think there was an AP discount that night. For those who paid $70 last year, was that the before-tax price? Also, did you have an AP or DVC discount?

The lowest I ever paid for a MNSSHP ticket was somewhere in the $40 to $50 price range years ago for our first party, 2002. I don't remember exactly what we paid last year, but it was around $65. Yes, that was with an AP discount. We've gone most years to the parties. One year we went to 5 MNSSHP. We do the Christmas parties sporadically. Skipped MVMCP last year and have no intentions of going this year at going prices. I much prefer the Halloween party over the Christmas party.

I'm literally always amazed when they keep raising the prices, because they must be masters at getting people to expand their budgets.

They are though .. think about it.

When i was a kid in the 80s .. a trip to Disney was a day trip while in Florida doing other things (beach, visiting retired grandparents, going to SeaWorld or Busch Gardens, etc.). We went there, parked, spent the day riding rides, ate hamburgers, saw a few characters walking around and went home happy. One stay hit 3 days only because MGM was new in the late 80s.

Now? Disney IS the destination .. with four parks you need to stay at LEAST four days there to experience it all, not to mention all the extras and fine dining options.

I think part of the price increase is mainly demand. If things are selling out (and quickly) at the prices that are set, then that means the price is too low. Higher prices COULD help alleviate the crowds.

Imagine if Disney DROPPED prices (which they probably could do and still make money). Then things would be even more crazy or crowded and the experience would be worse despite the cheaper cost.

It's like going to a baseball game when they have Dollar hot dog night. The lines for getting a simple hotdog are insane and (for me) .. not worth the cost of waiting in a 15-30 minute line to save a few dollars. I'd rather go in the Hamburger line, wait 5 minutes (but pay more).

Makes sense, they are like gold! I have 11 days remaining and since we usually only do 2-4 night trips, they are going to be sorely missed when gone. I think we're going to have to switch to an AP strategy and pack in several trips instead. I wish they would bring back non-expiring or better DVC discounts. We always did parties but we don't see as much value at $100+ with tax sadly.
I'm using mine this year for a short trip. Didn't make sense to use them last year. This will be the last of my non expiring :(
Tickets for MNSSHP & MVMCP have gone up.
I see ticket prices have been released and Im not happy with what im seeing.
Sadly , a family of 5 had to pay $540 that's $105 person for MNSSHP closer to Halloween.
MNSSHP
7:00 PM to midnight
September prices start at $72 per adult $67 per child
2 nd week of October prices hit average of $95 per person. $90 per child

Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party
7:00 PM to midnight
November starting at $91 per adult and $86 per adult
December it climbs to $96 per adult and $91 per child and closer to Christmas $99 adult /$94 per child.

Sorry to bring you bad news.
I've never been to a party. This year will be our first one, but I was under the impression that we could go to MK at 4pm. Is that not the case this year?

We recently went to a hockey game that was TMNT night. Was also $1 pizza night. The line for the pizza was INSANE. I'd love a $1 slice of pizza, but not enough to wait 40 minutes for one.

You'll get in at 4pm! There's a separate line for the party. You'll get wristbands and trick or treat bags right after you go through the tapstiles. There usually a bunch of cm handing them out. The closest one will probably have a line. But usually there's several a little further on who have no line.

The original ($1983?) MNSSHP and MVMCP were one night only events. The tickets were very limited and cost around $16. The same ticket in 2016 $$ would cost $38.77.

The price increased to $32 in 2005...equivalent to $39 in today's $$.

IMHO, these parties are great and our family has enjoyed them both. But, there is NOTHING about these parties that would justify this kind of increase in cost. The candy at the MNSSHP is the same as what I can buy locally. The cookies & hot chocolate at MVMCP are no different that any other cookies and hot chocolate. The parades are sweet but not worth this kind of increase. I guess we're done with these two events. I am blessed to have experienced them in the past and will hold those memories in a special place, but...sadly...no more.

Our first visit to WDW at holiday time was in 1996. We visited my mom in Cocoa on Thanksgiving weekend, then spent 3 days at WDW. We returned home on December 1st, and back then - the first Christmas party didn't start until December. Now the Christmas parties start in early November, and the Halloween parties start in early September! While the earlier parties are a benefit to those visiting WDW in September and November, I think it cheapens the holiday (especially Christmas) to have it "celebrated" so far in advance of the actual month. However, I'm sure it has been a huge cash cow for Disney, as have all of their extra-cost events.
