Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB RESORTS Information & Questions

Hi guys!

It's been so long since I've been on the boards. Life just got crazy! We are in serious wedding mode now-Ds gets married in May 29. Wish us good weather

We are doing Universal/Sea World this summer. First time in 13 years without Disney. We were lucky to get a quick Christmas trip in and planned our annual Disney summer trip, but all the "upsells" got to me so we are taking a year off from Disney

Just wanted to pop in and once again thank Dee for all her hard work. Dee- no one does a resort thread like you! You are the best!

Hey friend! Been thinking of you and meaning to get in touch.

I'm sure the wedding plans are keeping you super busy. Do you have a HS graduation this year, too?

I'll be crossing my fingers for an excellent day for the wedding and I'll reach out to you in June when things hopefully are quieter for you.

Thanks for the kind words!

Live from the Yacht Club. Just checked in today. We did not do online checkin.

Dh booked this over the phone and said it was our anniv and asked if the woods/garden view is a nice room. Our only request was to be nearer to the elevator.

Our view is of a tangle of tree limbs with the parking lot and views of disney buses through the limbs/trees. So unromantic, lol.

I hate to be a debbie downer and we have stayed here in the past but these rooms need serious updates asap.

The captains picture on the wall creeps me out and the wallpaper looks like I am in a time warp.

Also we put drinks in the frig and took them out - warm. Dh took the refrig out to make sure it was plugged in. It was but the temp was turned off, sigh.

I hope this gets better because I keep thinking I could have stayed longer at the Swan for $100 less a night.

Hi Robyn!

Luvmarypoppins, I hope things get better. I wondered how the YC rooms were faring. And now I have to find a picture of the captain on the wall. In my head, I keep imagining the grizzled one from Spongebob.

Dee, I have thank you again for making this such a lovely place. I've spent a bit of time over in the restaurant sub forum and, holy cow, folks over there get cranky and nasty. And defend being nasty on the basis of, "OP shouldn't have asked the question if she didn't want an answer." Ugh.

Few things....

- Thanks Dee for all you do! I'm sure it's not an easy (unpaid) job and you make it seem effortless but we really do appreciate it!

- Outdated YC rooms, bummer! We went back and forth between BC and YC but went with our old reliable YC because we spend so much time on our balcony. I'd be bummed if it looks worn and torn although I should expect it based on the upcoming refurb. It is a lot of money though and I hope we aren't disappointed!

- Last but not least... DS and I were walking tonight and had a good discussion about what we were most looking forward to for summer and we both agreed on Disney. I was going to ask him but he beat me to the punch and asked "What about Disney are you MOST looking forward to?" and we both agreed with SAB! He can't wait to build castles, dig tunnels, etc. and ride the waterslides. I lectured him about finding a friend to play with as he's an only child (not by choice) but last time we went he found some buds to hang out with and it made his time more enjoyable. I also love the waterslides, lazy river, etc. and just watching everything through the eyes of our DS! The countdown is on!!!!

Hi Robyn. I'm thinking of doing that next August 2017, Universal/Seaworld/Busch Gardens. We did that years ago. Got the multipark Orlando Pass. They bus you free to Busch Gardens. We had a blast. My younger daughter is a coaster junkie lol! And she drags me with her.
2 years ago we had 3 universal days pre Disney. Universal was amazing! Harry Potter-Wow!! And the Aquatica water park was fun. We did the all day meal plan there at Banana Cabana.

We are planning on doing the same thing! We've been to Universal several times and always had a blast! We've never been to Aquatica and haven't been to Sea World since 2005 so that should be something different too

We are getting the Irlando Fkex pass. I wasn't sure if we should get the Busch Gardens add on. How did you like it?

Just wanted to say that even when I'm not in the boards I'm always thinking of my BC/YC Friends!!!!

I am so sorry to hear your stay has been disappointing so far!

Please share your concerns at the front desk- if you are willing to switch rooms kindly ask if there is something else available with a better view and without Skipper Salty.

Is this the guy?

I have not stayed at the YC yet, but I don't think he is in every room. Is he? (YC vets)?

Crossing my fingers for you!

:goodvibes

Skipper salty is definitely not in every room. We've stayed YC half a dozen times and I don't remember ever seeing him.
Hope everything seems better today luvmarypoppins :goodvibes
I've never seen him either, though we only have 2 YC stays under our belt. He would creep me out too!!!

Would anyone know what the three or four room numbers are for the rooms that share the large concrete balcony on the YC club level? We stayed in one of them last summer but I can't recall the number. This summer my sister and niece are joining us (we'll have two rooms) and I put in a request with the IPO for two of those rooms if they could swing it. I was just hoping I'd know what they are so when we get the text message with our room numbers we'd know if we got lucky or not.

They just announced that the new Star Wars fireworks will be every night this summer, starting June 17. And it's my understanding that the beach outside the YC is one of the best out-of-park areas in which to view them!
Is it on the park sched yet? In a few weeks have to finalize plans and book FPs. Last night when I looked I couldn't see them for August sched. No evening hrs showing up at AK either yet I know they're open, ugh.

If I had that picture of a captain hanging in any of my YC rooms I would have taken it off the wall.
Katedad

I know! Put one of those Mickey head stickers (the ones they give out in the parks) over his face!

No, but probably coming soon. It was just announced this morning on the Disney blog that the new fireworks woudl start the 17th and be every night.

Skipper salty looks like he's been on that boat a little too long! Thank goodness he's never been in our room. We've stayed three times. We will see if he is in our room next week. :crazy2:

I don't think we had Skipper Salty in our room two years ago. I'll ask my kids, though, they would definitely remember that picture.

I would love to stay at YC on our next trip. My mother has mobility issues & I had a few questions regarding the boats. Mom uses a cane or sometimes a walker. She will not use an ECV. Don't try to convince me...I've tried. We even rented one for her 10 years ago on the only other trip she came with us & she refused to get on it & we had to return it. Here are my questions:

1) Do you have to step down into the boat in order to get on? I assume you have to go down but wasn't sure if there are steps or a ramp. A ramp she could do but I don't think she could do steps.

2) If we had a wheelchair, can we get on the boat with it or would we have to use the bus?

Thanks!
