i thought they were kinda nice in a way. Its not a huge impact but still interesting.

They might just be making some changes to the systems. With the rumors about different kinds of Magic Bands flying around, it may just be a system overhaul. I never really got to see any of it.

I thought it was a really nice little touch. It always seemed to make everyone happy when they saw their name. I will never forget standing in line at TSMM and the etch a sketch jotted out "Happy Birthday Helena" to my son's girlfriend. It was such a fun surprise for her!

The screens at Rock "N' Roller Coaster were on and displaying peoples names last week when I was there.

At least that explains why we didn't see a single one on our trip at the end of August. We didn't go on Rock N Roller Coaster, so I can speak for that one though.

I don't use my real name on my MB, I also don't use my real name anywhere on the internet. I've never seen any of them, I don't ride most of the rides they were on except HM and didn't see it there when I was there last week nor did I see anything in TSMM. I can see how it might bother some people, they just don't really want their name or faces plastered in public places. I don't do the picture thing on SSE either, it's not working now but when it does I pull my hat down or slide over a tad.

The name you put on your MB is only on the MB and not the account - the rides display the name on the account not your MB nickname.

Shame .. a neat feature that I was hoping they would expand.

Hopefully it wasn't ruined by someone complaining about their 'privacy' being invaded.
"I don't want everyone to know my name!" (some may have said).

Maybe they are just taking it down for maintenance and allowing some setting in MDE to let you 'opt out' of those messages.

Wow, that's pretty extreme. Out of curiosity, what's the concern with the SE photo?

I do understand people have privacy concerns, but to me what WDW has been doing isn't a big deal. It's just first names, or the state you're from. I think the photos on SE were fun, sad they have been down. There are many more places that I would have data security concerns than what I've seen in the parks.

Names on the MBs didn't appear on the screens. Those are just to tell the bands apart. It was the name associated with the DME account.

I've never seen one of those screen things that was actually working, so maybe there were issues with them.

And I've seen a lot of complaints here from those who didn't want their or their children's names, even first names, publicized in any manner. So maybe that was it too.

We saw them on Everest last week. They didn't capture all the names of the people in the queue. When we went by it only pulled up DH's name.

Hopefully as others have said, it's to enhance or fix the system. It would be a shame if they took it down. I liked it.

Not sure if SE is included or not, I didn't see it in the article but when we were there in Aug the little movie with your picture was not working. We were so disappointed! I loved that part of it. It is missing something with the generic cartoon people.

We loved these when we were there in May. The kids adored seeing their names pop up or our home state. I don't get the privacy concerns at all..If you are close enough to me on a ride to see my name pop up on the screen then chances are you heard one of us call someone in our group by their name. No biggie to me.

Our names popped up on IASW in early August. We thought it was pretty cool.
