Goodbye Wishes! Hello Happily Ever After!

I welcome the change, not that I don't like wishes, but I look forward to new things and new ideas and Disney usually has great ideas!!!!!

I think this is great news - it is time for a change. I doubt they will reduce the number of fireworks either, as that will have a detrimental effect on all those reservations at California Grill and fireworks cruises.

They've already been reducing the fireworks and the show is still happening. No reason to believe they aren't using this as an opportunity to cut some more pyro. The only difference is that guests won't know because it's new

Because those projections...while cool...have a limited field of view and create the uncomfortable meat market around the hub that we all pretty much hate.

Fireworks...at least...extends to most of the park.

Not that these boards have made me jaded or anything... :rolleyes1

But projections have to be cheaper than pyrotechnics. Also, projections lend themselves to those viewing from within the park. Therefore, no more freeloading on the top of the Contemporary or Deluxe Resort beaches. If you want to see the show, you gotta by a ticket and get inside. This means more money for Disney! :duck:

The short video that Disney Parks Blog posted is really interesting. It specifically says that they are creating new pyro to "light up the sky like it's never been seen before" so I doubt it will lack fireworks. Also, if you look at the computer screens in the video it appears that the projections may actually wrap around the castle more. This would be great and help more people get a decent view.

I love Wishes but I am always excited to get new experiences.

I think it would be cool if they ran a different show on different nights: ie New Show Mon, Wed, Fri, Sat and Wishes on Tue, Thr and Sun. Or something like that. They have proven they can do this because during the parties, they show different fireworks shows on different nights.

The big question is will it have the same amount of fireworks as wishes or less or even more. With projections as seen in the Star Wars show they often do less pyro.

I was going to say that. As well as those Poly Bungalows and Poly Club Level (the longue), theme park view in general at all the monorail resorts

I guess, on the other hand, no one is seeing the show for "free" (without park admission)

Another thought. Do they create new Halloween and Christmas shows? Or do they keep HalloWishes and Holiday Wishes?

That could also just mean 'this specific sequence of fireworks has never been seen before'

They won't remove fireworks completely, but the addition of the projections is an easy out to reduce the number of shells.

And one thing that Once Upon A Time does well is the projections onto the side of the castle, though it doesn't really seem reduce hub crowd levels

Well all righty then. My head is spinning with all the new news. I'm open to a new show but I dislike the mostly laser shows so my fingers are crossed that they don't go too far on that. Short folks have problems seeing the projections and if by chance you get a good spot where someone can't get in front of you then a darned ole tree will be there. I've tried the Star Wars show twice at HS, getting there good and early to get a good spot (even had a CM move me to the perfect spot) only to have some tall man saunter up about 2 min. before the show and squeeze right in front of me. For FWs that isn't that big of an issue but for projections, forget it. Also, I don't know how I'd feel if Tink didn't fly any more, she is the only reason I go to MK for the show to start with. I plop myself on the concrete benches on the bridge going to tomorrowland where she flies right over and clap and cheer just like a little girl. After that it's all frosting on the cake for me.

It is impossible to enjoy projections when you are short, and for children too. It's one of the reasons I hated Jingle Bell Jingle BAM (Craig voice).

THIS. I had the same thought. Why can't we have both?

Oh...don't stop there...

There's something else: projections can be changed at anytime. As in you can have multiple shows projected with a mouse click.

More shows?...great!!!

But...what if those shows are "reserved" for "premium" events?

What if the fireworks banks are "despecialized" to fire an array of standard shots?

So you could "change" them in an hour?

So...more tickets...nothing substantial added.

I have an announcement to make...

IIIIIII...am the next CEO!!!

I was also thinking it would be new types of fireworks which are more impactful / bigger "wow" per the burst ... so more efficient

So like, perhaps giving 90% of the total effect from 70% of the actual bursts ... then get an extra 20% boost form the projections and now you have a show that overall is "bigger/better" for slightly lower cost

My first trip to the World in over fifteen years was last year, and I was surprised by the lack of fireworks. I'm going off of looong memory here, but I seem to recall more of them back then.

It's disappointing to here that the new show will have less than Wishes, which I already thought was lacking in the explosions department.
