Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB RESORTS Information & Questions

We've eaten at Teppan Edo twice, and enjoyed it! I love the theming. Food of course is great, they seat you around grill-type tabletop and cook in front of you. I think the table seating is for eight so smaller parties will join other parties at the grill. You're entertained with the cooking most of your meal. It's really nice. We timed it to watch the fireworks right after, last time we went we had a 7:30 reservation. We were not staying at BC though, so we had to walk back up to the monorail to get back to TTC, so a little crazy trying to get out of there. Not sure how long the walk would be to BC. I don't think it would seem long, though.

The walk from Tokyo Dining in the evening will be more like 20 minutes to BC, maybe a few more. Japan is on the other side of World Showcase. So it is about a 5 -10 minute walk to the International GAteway, then another 10 or so to Japan.
To clarify, Tokyo Dining is a separate restaurant from Teppan Edo. Both are in Japan, but they do not cook teppan style, in front of you, at Tokyo Dining.
Glad I asked, 20 mins it is!
Yeah, I see that Tokyo Dining is a sushi place. To my utter shame (being a native Californian) I just don't like sushi that much :duck: but everyone else in my family loves it and there are other things on the menu, throwing in the prospect of some fireworks viewing means we could be looking at 2 meals in Japan! I sense my ADR list will soon have to chopped down! So much food, so little time :sad2:

I have a question regarding room types. In viewing Touring Plans and Disney Zone, I see that some rooms are marked differently. TP calls a room Standard View while DZ calls it Water View. In other places TP calls a room Water View while DZ calls it Standard. I'd like to make a room request, but am concerned I would give a room number that is not the room type I reserved. Is one site more reliable than the other?

Not familiar with Disney Zone. Touring Plans is usually pretty accurate. And obviously water view is distinctly different from standard view and a good bit more expensive.

Requesting a specific room number is NOT a good idea and is not recommended. If that room is not available, which is highly likely, the room assigner has no idea what about that room appealed to you. We recommend listing what you want I.e. Water view, or near elevators. Please.

I just changed our reservation from BC to YC for this summer. Actually I changed part of it. I have an agency exclusive reservation for a SV room at BC for my adult kids. I plan to leave them at BC! DH & I had a LV at BC with the summer discount but I realized I could save $1000+ switching to YC GV-score! Are there GV rooms that are on the lagoon side (obviously not a lagoon view just the back side of the resort) and what would be the best wording for a request? Would love a sideways view of fireworks! Thanks for any suggestions!

Ok now I have to research everything about the BC villas. DH was looking at the discounted rooms and it was nothing available for us to apply on our account since the day the discounts were posted but a villa showed up this morning. Even though it doesn't save us money from our garden view room in BC, he was excited about the villa room. We are now staying in a 1 bedroom BC villa Aug15-23! DH says "I'm doin it.....BAM bangin disney vacation". I think my DH got my Husband of the Year award today.

My DH only agreed to a BCV 1 bedroom villa on our last trip since it was our 20th anniversary and over NYE, so he was willing to try it in case crowds were bad and we ended up staying in the room more. His post-trip assessment - nicest and best Disney room we've ever stayed in, and he's going to have trouble going back to a regular room. And we've stayed in everything from ASMu to Poly CL. You're going to love it.

Thanks for the warm welcome! @natebenma

Long time lurker here. I will pipe in if there is something I know about. Seems the least I can do when everyone is so nice about sharing info.

I will be at the YC next week 4/4 through 4/9. My son will be performing with his HS band on the 5th at DS!

Have a fantastic trip! That will be quite a moment watching your son and his band!

:rockband:

Of course you can share, you know I take pictures just to share with my DIS buddies  DH enjoyed helping this time :)

Thanks, again!

Please let your DH know I have awarded him assistant minion status!

;)

I've been lurking for a couple weeks now. We've got our first trip to the YC on April 21 to April 29. 23 days and we cannot wait!

:welcome:

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list we keep on Page 1, Post 15.

:cool1:

I will be staying here for my first time May 7-10. Excited to try out a new resort!

:welcome:

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list. Beach Club or Yacht Club?

Let us know if you have any questions.

:woohoo:

I'll make the adjustment to your listing.

Yes, there are YC GV rooms that are on the lagoon side. Some of those rooms have a wedding gazebo view. Some overlook the back entrance (lakeside) courtyard. Some of those may have fireworks views of either Illuminations or the Hollywood Studios fireworks. Check out the Yacht Club Room View thread (on the Resorts Community subforum) to see some samples of these rooms with these views.

Not positive about the request to emphasize a fireworks view. Maybe "Room on backside of resort, facing EPCOT if possible"

:goodvibes

The Disney Zone maps were created when there were just Water View and Standard View categories. In 2011, the rooms at the resorts were reviewed resulting in the change of view category for some of the rooms.

I don't have any experience with Touring Plans, so I can only rely on what others have posted. I think what I have heard is mostly, but not entirely, accurate info.

If you go to Post 8 on Page 1 of this thread, there is a link to a very detailed resort room map, showing the view and a few additional details of the Beach Club rooms.

Thanks to everyone who has responded to my questions. Another thanks to those who supply the pics and reports. :flower3:

We have made a switch to our trip. Instead of BC CL from Aug 5th to 8th, we are staying at YC CL from Aug 4th to 7th. (Yay, summer discount!)

Since we are staying CL and will likely be partaking in the evening snacks and appetizers, we would like some advice on where to go to get evening QS at BC or YC. I imagine we may head over to Epcot one or two evenings and dine there, but there may be a night or two we may want to stay at the resort. What QS meals do you enjoy at BC or YC?

If you are looking for QS meals on the dining plan there's not a ton of options at the resorts - we've enjoyed some decent sandwiches/flatbreads from the BC QS place but it has a pretty limited menu. You can walk over to Boardwalk Bakery, but I'd probably just walk to Epcot and get fish & chips or something from Les Halles since we prefer those places. Hurricane Hanna's is QS on the dining plan and is a relaxing place to grab a drink and food but frankly the food isn't all that good -- I'm not particularly picky but didn't finish my burger last time we ate there. If you are going to pay out of pocket I think the best option for something that doesn't require reservations is Crew's Cup Lounge -- good food and drinks but fairly pricey.

We have reservations booked for the last week of August. The last time we stayed at YC we had a nasty encounter with a man at the pool. He and his family took the last row of chairs. When we took the chairs in front of them he got very ugly and aggressive about how we were blocking his view of his kids in the pool. There were no castmembers around, so rather than get into a physical altercation we left the pool. My spouse is worried we'll encounter that attitude again. It was a Sunday in June. Is late August better? Alternatively, would it help to avoid Sunday? Any chance they've installed some sort of cabana I can rent?

How horrible! There are no cabanas. There is no reason some rude, nasty bully should be allowed to chase you away from the pool or upset your vacation or make you change your plans. If that were to happen again, you should go directly to the hotel manager. They have security to deal with these types of individuals.

Alternatively you could see if a lifeguard could help you out (they can call security-etc.) and/or move. I haven't ever encountered something like that at a pool in WDW chances are you won't have the problem again.

We have gone several summers in a row in June, July, or August. We've never had any problems at the pool. We always find a few chairs (I don't take one per person, kids are usually in the water) and have met a ton of nice people. Sounds like a fluke. Give it another chance!
