It Takes Two, Baby; a 2017 Flower and Garden dining report *NEW dining report!*

Love the Smee meet & greet.

I was also unimpressed with the pretzel. I'm not sure what I was expecting but it tasted like a super pretzel to me which isn't anything special. Maybe I should of had a beer with it?

I can't wait to hear about your May trip!

You really do have all the luck with the character meet and greats in America. I walk slllooowwwlly through there every time but nada. Awesome luck with both the Captain and Smee, I'm sure you were beside your self (hence the cool face). Casey and I got to see my cousins daughter play Smee in Peter Pan a few weeks ago and I totally thought of you.

Was your ice cream salted caramel by any chance?? We've only eaten there once and that is what we got and it was B-A-D BAD. Tasted like burnt caramel instead of salted. We've been bitten by the Germany pretzel too. It should be oh so good, but in the ends its a mediocre at best pretzel. But at least its good at soaking up the booze :-)

Can't wait to hear all about May!

Your meet and greet looked like it was fun. We ran into one of those once, back in October of 2015. We met Rapunzel. I didn't realize at the time that this was a training session. Rapunzel wasn't very chatty, in fact, I don't think she said much at all. But it was fun to meet her, anyway. :)

I think that listening to the British Revolution with a beer from Rose & Crown is almost mandatory. You got a lot done before your Magical Express. :)

I got really behind, all caught up now! I love your pictures at MK on your last day. I did not know the old cabin on the island at MK use to be on fire, very cool.

Thanks for sharing all your food choices at FG, the bratwurst and paprika chips looks so yummy.

I love your Smee shirt and how cool for the character palooza with Smee there! WL is on my list for a stay in the future, maybe April.

"I couldn't be any LESS cool" face.

I think this is the face I make all the time. :rotfl:

On our way out of WS I asked Steve if he wanted to grab one more shrimp skewer and he said no; I can't help but think he did it out of sympathy for my flawed final food choice
That's a good husband :thumbsup2

Can't wait to hear more! Also, please note that this reply was done on my phone lol

Timing couldn't have been more perfect!
Yay!!!!!! I can't believe the luck with your shirt and seeing Smee!!!!!!!!!! :hyper:

Since I wasn't thrilled with the burnt ends hash and now I wasn't happy with my ice cream choice, I had no choice but to get one final La Vien Rose:
No, you had no choice at all! :drinking1:laughing:

I went back and forth between getting one final item from the booth in Germany or not, so we headed that way.
When in doubt, I always go for it. Too bad what you went for was such a bummer though! I'm gonna blame it on getting-ready-to-leave-Disney blues. We can't be blamed for the decisions we make during that time...

As usual when I know exactly when we're coming back I was sad the trip was ending but not sad enough to
Having another trip on the books always helps when you have to leave. It doesn't mean we like it, but at least another countdown is on! :thumbsup2

Love your pic the Smee and with that shirt no less :goodvibes
Your skirt is so cute and how cool you got to meet Captain Hook too.
I remember when they would meet in MK with Peter Pan and Wendy.
Glad to see you got another La Vien Rose :drinking1
That's great you had a later flight and could have xtra park time.

OMG I was like a kid who just opened up an Atari on their birthday! Ahem, I mean, an Iphone on their birthday :o

Even from the side you look so excited! It's like your beckoning Smee into your arms :rotfl:

For those of you who are jealous that I hit that training on almost every trip, I'll tell you now that we did not come across it last week. And we slow-walked by the gates a number of times, so I'll have to try again in August!

You just see it almost every trip :p

Hi Ariane! What a wonderful trip! I'm glad you got some good eats in and some AWESOME character meets...You sure do luck out in the American pavilion! I love Smee's reaction to your tee!!! PRECIOUS!

I am with you on that dang pretzel. I made the mistake of getting one on our last trip and while it was fine, it pretty much killed our appetites for a good couple of hours which you don't want to do during Food & Wine. Next time I will resists its doughy goodness!

Glad you guys had such a fun trip :-)

I was also unimpressed with the pretzel. I'm not sure what I was expecting but it tasted like a super pretzel to me which isn't anything special. Maybe I should of had a beer with it?
A beer will make almost anything taste better :thumbsup2 But you hit it on the head - tastes like a huge super pretzel

I can't wait to hear about your May trip!
Hoping to get started on that real soon!

You really do have all the luck with the character meet and greats in America. I walk slllooowwwlly through there every time but nada
Huh, I guess they didn't get the memo that you're friends with the DeVizio's. I'll make sure to fix that asap :coffee:

Awesome luck with both the Captain and Smee, I'm sure you were beside your self (hence the cool face).
lmao you know I was lovin' it and Steve was laughing at me

Casey and I got to see my cousins daughter play Smee in Peter Pan a few weeks ago and I totally thought of you.
Aw thank you! I like going to some of the high school Disney plays around here when we know someone in them; some of those productions are really good!

Was your ice cream salted caramel by any chance?? We've only eaten there once and that is what we got and it was B-A-D BAD. Tasted like burnt caramel instead of salted.
YES!!! ::yes:: ::yes:: That's what it was! And that's why I didn't like it, it tasted burnt. Left a nasty aftertaste in my mouth so I couldn't eat it anymore :crazy2:

We've been bitten by the Germany pretzel too. It should be oh so good, but in the ends its a mediocre at best pretzel. But at least its good at soaking up the booze :-)
That it is! And now I know what not to get next time.

Your meet and greet looked like it was fun. We ran into one of those once, back in October of 2015.
I love the "surprise" meet and greets that pop up. They're so rare, it's nice they still happen sometimes.

I think that listening to the British Revolution with a beer from Rose & Crown is almost mandatory.
It's one of our favorite things to do in WS! Unfortunately our boys don't see the importance of it so they usually do a bit of wandering while we listen and then they come back and annoy us until we leave :sad2:

I love your pictures at MK on your last day. I did not know the old cabin on the island at MK use to be on fire, very cool.
It was so neat! I wish they would fix whatever the problem was and make it burn again. I know that sentence sounds weird lol.

Thanks for sharing all your food choices at FG, the bratwurst and paprika chips looks so yummy.
Delicious :goodvibes
WL is on my list for a stay in the future, maybe April.
You should definitely try it! So easy to get to MK, not to mention FW if you want to go there as well as the Contemporary. We take the boat to MK and then monorail to Epcot too, we find it much more preferable to using the bus. And now with Geyser Point it's just incredible.

I think this is the face I make all the time. :rotfl:
 Then we are BOTH incredibly cool!

Can't wait to hear more!
:thumbsup2

When in doubt, I always go for it. Too bad what you went for was such a bummer though! I'm gonna blame it on getting-ready-to-leave-Disney blues. We can't be blamed for the decisions we make during that time...
I like that reasoning. In my concern to have my last snack be the perfect one I got so flustered........happens to the best of us ;)

Your skirt is so cute and how cool you got to meet Captain Hook too.
Thanks! So funny about the skirt, about 6x on this trip I had little girls behind me in lines. All of a sudden I would feel a light touch around my thighs.....I thought it was Steve lol, but the girls would be gently touching the eyelets on the skirt, fascinated with the design!

I remember when they would meet in MK with Peter Pan and Wendy.
Me too, we met them all together when Ricky was 5. I have a PP picture of him with Smee and Hook hanging in the spare bedroom  Wish they still met regularly :(

Even from the side you look so excited! It's like your beckoning Smee into your arms :rotfl:
:rotfl2: I actually was like, "Dude! How cool is my shirt!!"

Hi Ariane! What a wonderful trip! I'm glad you got some good eats in and some AWESOME character meets...You sure do luck out in the American pavilion! I love Smee's reaction to your tee!!! PRECIOUS!
:thanks: Yes I hate to jinx myself but the American pavilion does me well!

I am with you on that dang pretzel. I made the mistake of getting one on our last trip and while it was fine, it pretty much killed our appetites for a good couple of hours which you don't want to do during Food & Wine.
Seems a few of us have gotten burned by that pretzel  The worst thing during a food festival is to waste stomach space with something not so good!

Glad you guys had such a fun trip :-)
Thank you :goodvibes May was awesome too, I'm going to get to that one hopefully in the next couple days.

I was just reading through your report and I love all the characters you got to meet! I love meeting the rare characters and you seemed to hit the jackpot I've never seen any of them in the parks before. I also never realized that there were food booths during the Flower and Garden festival. Has this always happened and I've been oblivious? lol. Looks like you had a great trip! :)

I was just reading through your report and I love all the characters you got to meet! I love meeting the rare characters and you seemed to hit the jackpot I've never seen any of them in the parks before
It's such a great spot to "accidentally" meet characters! We've lucked onto it like, 5 out of 6 trips lol. Smee and Hook used to meet regularly over in Adventureland in MK years ago but, like many other characters now considered "rare", they can only be found occasionally during trainings and characterpalooza.

I also never realized that there were food booths during the Flower and Garden festival. Has this always happened and I've been oblivious? lol.
 Not always. Our first F&G in 2013 I don't believe there were food booths; it started in either 2014 or 2015. They are fabulous! So good we went back again last month to sample some more! Those reviews coming up soon :thumbsup2

So much fun on the characters! I didn't even realize there was a spot like that in Epcot! Great job hitting the jackpot :) Love the picture with you and Smee.

Surprised? I think this was his 3rd or 4th shrimp of the trip and, spoiler, it's not the last one he's had. Steve may or may not have made a beeline to this booth last Thursday :rolleyes1

Haha I had it about 3 times myself.

I on the other hand opted to forego the booths and see an old friend:

Yummy! I think when we at the bakery they ran out of school bread. I'm not sure though but the food case was disparately empty and there was no school bread. Maybe there was more in the back but the line was too long for me to find out.

Something not quite bright yellow but a little more on the orange side followed our trip to China:

I love this picture of you!

I love eating the olives out of his vodka after they've soaked it up for awhile :D

Me too, they are soooo yummy. I especially like blue cheese-stuffed olives. Soaked in vodka of course.

The Gourmet Burger: with Land Lettuce, Tomato, House Pickles, Truffle Fries and Aioli:

Oooh that looks delicious! I love how they use The Land greens!

Have you tried the cinnamon rolls there? I have! Again and again and again!

But of course! And I like how your cinnamon roll is about 3x the size of Steve's croissant. :thumbsup2

We then moved on to the Germany booth, Bauernmarkt: Farmer's Market. We'd had the potato pancake on our first day but I had my eye on something else, the Curryworst with Paprika Chips- Roasted Bratwurst with Curry Ketchup and Paprika-spiced Chips:

I love this dish! I had it once last year and kept thinking about it and so I had it twice this year. Hehe. I think it's better than the bratwurst they have in Biergarten!

Antipasto Misto: Cerignola Olives, Sweet Soppresatta and Salami, Ovolini, Mozzarella, Sweet Roasted Peppers, and Ciabatta Bread.
Meatball Parmigiana: Handmade Beef and Veal Meatballs, Tomato Sauce, Mozzarella, Parmigiana, and Fresh Basil.

oooh I have not heard too much about the Italy booth but this looks pretty good. I don't really like roasted red pepper but the meatballs look tasty!

The Beef Brisket Burnt Ends Hash was not something that had ever appealed to me, but so many here love it that I had to see what all the fuss was about:
With White Cheddar Fondue and Pickled Jalapenos:

We had the brisket too (when we met you at the America Pavilion!). The first time I had it was early May and it was delicious. The one I had when we met up wasn't as good. :confused3

Meeting Rabbit was awesome because not only have I never met him, I've never even SEEN him doing a meet.

Sooo cute! I've only met him once and with Tigger and Pooh in front of Adventures of Winnie the Pooh.

OMG I was like a kid who just opened up an Atari on their birthday! Ahem, I mean, an Iphone on their birthday :o

Awww I LOVE these pictures! How cool is that?!?

It wasn't bad, and it's definitely huge and more than enough to fill you up if you're feelin' a big hungry or even feelin' hangry. It's just not special. It's a pretzel, and as much as I love the German pavilion I have to say this pretzel was a bit of a disappointment. What did I expect? I don't know. A special German type of pretzel? It's no different than the pretzel I get sometimes when I'm done shopping at BJ's and I'm too hungry (read: hangry) to wait until I get home to eat. I ate a good amount of it because we weren't going to be eating until we were at the airport and I wasn't sure exactly what that would be, but my face looked like this while I ate it :sad2: Not the way I wanted to end the trip food-wise, with so many yummy snacks surrounding me! On our way out of WS I asked Steve if he wanted to grab one more shrimp skewer and he said no; I can't help but think he did it out of sympathy for my flawed final food choice.

Sorry for the disappointing pretzel. I have had really delicious pretzels from Germany and I've had some which were too hard. I only had one in May and thankfully it was nice and chewy. :thumbsup2

Before I get started on our 2nd Flower and Garden trip from last month, I'll do a quick recap of our March trip. First, while it was our 2nd stay at WL it was our first experience with Geyser Point since it had recently opened. It's such a fantastic addition to my favorite resort! Before it opened I read concerns from people that being outside it would be too hot/cold to sit/eat there, and also concern that the menu choices weren't "normal" enough. I don't think the menu choices will be an issue for anyone once Roaring Fork reopens. While it wasn't hot either the morning we walked down there or the night we sat out there, they do have huge ceiling fans so I'm sure they'll do their best to keep it cool. And they did have the heaters on in the morning which took the slight chill in the air out for those sitting and eating inside. The view, both during the day and at night, is incredible; I can't say enough about the place and I haven't even tried any of the food! Don't forget you now have more adult beverage choices at the resort, which is never a bad thing.

Flower and Garden was the main reason for this trip - well, that and the fact that even though we had our May trip booked already when we booked March, Steve couldn't handle the thought of a 6 month WDW break! F&G remains one of my favorite times to visit, I think second only to fall during MNSSHP. Here's our favorites and not so favorites from the festival booths:
Steve's favorite: if you don't know this you obviously haven't read my report: the Sugar Cane Shrimp Skewer from La Isla Fresca that he had about 10x. Runners up would be the meatball parm and antipasto from Primavera Kitchen in Italy which is kind of surprising since you don't hear much about this.
Steve's least favorite: the Beef Tenderloin Tips from Northern Bloom didn't do anything for him but, sorry to say, the burnt ends hash was his least favorite. At least my many Canadian friends will still love us!

Ariane's favorite: This is tough so I need to go by category: adult beverage, obviously the La Vie en Rose from the Fleur de Lys in France. For a sweet item it would definitely be the heavenly Macaron Chocolat Framboise also from France, and for savory......a French trifecta with the Tarte a l'Onion Alsacienne!
Ariane's least favorite: Similar to Steve I really did not enjoy the burnt ends hash or the chocolate cake with bourbon caramel sauce from The Smokehouse.

If we're talking restaurants we did truly enjoy all our meals: Liberty Tree Tavern, The Wave, Tiffins and Territory Lounge even though I missed out on my soup. Tiffins takes top prize for both of us though, it's a wonderful addition to Disney's signatures and to AK as well. Overall it was another great adults only trip! What made it even better was knowing we were returning in less than 2 months, so on to our May trip :car:

FLOWER AND GARDEN TRIP TAKE TWO: MAY 18-22ND
ANIMAL KINGDOM VILLAS, KIDANI
Unlike our March trip when we arrived early in the morning, we didn't arrive until about 5pm this time. We got right on a bus and only sat for about 15 minutes before heading to AKV, where we were staying and which was our first stop. I never take DME selfies - I rarely take selfies since I suck at them - but I changed it up this time. However Steve wasn't in the mood and I'm not sure what he's looking at? Oh well, my best attempt. You'll notice my freaky eyes which are a staple in my selfie attempts:

We'd also never stayed at AKV before just AKL. I took lots of pictures of our room, which was nice and on the 4th floor, but didn't have any type of animal view. We did have a nice view of the bus stop:

I suppose we could have technically jumped over our balcony whenever we wanted to catch a bus. We did not do that.
We got to the resort around 6:15 but because you never know with DME, we hadn't made any plans to go to a park. Instead we had plans to go to dinner at Boma and had a 7:40 reservation. With time to kill we walked around the resort a bit and checked out the very small gift shop with grab and go items. One item in particular caught my eye:

Hello individual cup of Moscato  Why are you the only kind of wine not in my airport at home?
It was a tad warm outside but not bad so we chose to walk over to Jambo rather than take the shuttle that runs between there and Kidani. The walk left us parched though and we still had about 30 minutes before our reservation, so we stopped off in Victoria Falls Lounge for a drink.

Victoria Falls is neat because it overlooks Boma. It's also nice and dark and just has a cool "feel" to it. We both ordered a drink off their menu; Steve got the Moscow Mule: Russian Standard Vodka, fresh Lime Juice, and Agave Nectar topped with Ginger Beer. He'd never had one before and he loved it. I got the Smoked Turkey: Wild Turkey 101 Bourbon, Red Stag Black Cherry Bourbon, Grenadine, and Odwalla Lemonade with a hint of Hickory Smoke garnished with Luxardo Gourmet Maraschino Cherries

The cherries were pretty bitter but that's the only thing I didn't like about this drink. I could taste the "hint of hickory smoke" too :D
Steve had gone down to check in at Boma right after we got our drinks and was told they were running about 30 minutes behind but got a pager; the pager went off at 7:50 so not bad at all. We took our drinks down to our table with us.
The restaurant was packed! We'd only eaten dinner at Boma once before, back in 2011 with the boys. Neither of us remembered it that well but I was looking forward to this.
Our first plates were bowls; Steve tried the Seafood Gumbo. I can't find a detailed description of this anywhere and Steve isn't home at the moment, but I can tell you it had shrimp in it:

And thought this was great.
I tried something I'd never had before since it didn't have any seafood in it (remember I don't do seafood); the Mulligatawny: Indian flavored Apple, Rice, and Chicken soup

OMG this was heavenly! My first time having Mulligatawny and I ended up having two bowls and have had dreams about it since leaving, which I know makes me weird. Would it make it any less weird if in those dreams Johnny Depp was serving it to me naked?
The broth is just a bit spicy and there's quite a strong curry taste. I can do a little curry so it kind of surprised me I liked this so much. Usually I find chicken in things like this tough but the chicken was extremely tender. I could have just eaten this and been satisfied, Johnny Depp or no. Oh and for any of you youngsters who only think of Pirates when you think of Johnny, check out the original Nightmare on Elm Street, What's Eating Gilbert Grape and 21 Jump Street, the series NOT THE MOVIE!!

Steve's first plate: mashed potatoes, green beans, Nut-Encrusted Salmon, Durban-style Roasted Chicken

I'm pretty sure he feels these mashed potatoes are the best he's ever had on property. He also loved the salmon and needed to run up and check what exactly was on it because it was so good and he hadn't looked at the sign when taking it, he just loves salmon so figured he'd like it. Other than "Nut-Encrusted" it didn't give a description but he didn't care. He also loved the Durban Chicken and even the beans which had some type of lightly spiced flavor to them.
My first plate: mashed potatoes, African-Spiced Strip-Loin with a Chipotle &Teriyaki mustard, Coconut Basmati Rice

I agreed with Steve on the mashed potatoes and the meat was delicious, especially with the mustard on it. I wasn't a fan of the coconut rice but I didn't think I would be since I knew it would be sweet; I like rice and I love coconut but sweet rice doesn't work for me.

My next plate which was after my 2nd bowl of Mulligatawny: more Strip-Loin with horseradish on the side, corn muffins that were called something a little different, and a salad that I swore was the Apple Jicama Salad but the picture seems to be missing apple so, your guess is as good as mine!

You can see this piece of meat is seriously on the rare side, too rare for me but I believe right up @kastoney's alley. I did eat a couple bites to try the horseradish which I love and it was delicious but I preferred my first cut of meat. The salad was very good, the dressing was like a spicier Thousand Island, nothing outstanding but I wanted a little salad. The corn muffins were little bites of goodness as is most Disney corn bread.

Steve's second plate: the Strip-Loin with a mustard gravy, more mashed potatoes and Durban chicken, a Plantain with what my notes say is "Pedro", and some Pap

Of the new stuff Steve wasn't a big fan of the Plantain but whatever Pedro actually is, he thought was tasty. It was a jelly-like substance but not as thick and on the sweet side. He also didn't care for the Pap, not that it was bad, he'd simply never had it before and was interested in trying it but it wasn't his thing.

He also got a plate of bread because what's a dinner without bread? A dinner roll, pita chips, and 2 types of Hummus, White Bean and Sun-Dried Tomato

I was surprisingly too full to try any bread but Steve ate all the hummus. He preferred the sun-dried tomato but liked the white bean also, except he felt it was a little flat whatever that means. I think all hummus is yucky.

At some point during dinner Steve ordered another Moscow Mule and I opted for something different: a Watermelon Margarita

So pretty right? It was good and had nice watermelon flavor; a little on the sweet side and for me to say that considering what drinks I like, it was sweet. Still no trouble finishing it though! After a short break we moved on to desserts.
Steve's plate: starting with the Zebra Dome and going clockwise, you have an Oreo Cheesecake Tart, Kenyan Coffee Tart, Cape Dutch Malva Pudding and a Guava Panna Cotta

Mine: the Oreo Cheesecake Tart, a Chocolate Bread Pudding with Vanilla Sauce, and a good old-fashioned Brownie

They also had your standard Disney cookies on the dessert buffet and plenty of them.
We both liked the Oreo cheesecake and I loved my brownie. I keep attempting to like bread pudding but I just can't become a fan, even of the 'Ohana one. It's too mushy and doesn't have enough taste for me; Steve tried mine and didn't care for it either but keep in mind it's coming from a pair of non bread pudding fans.
On to Steve's choices: he doesn't remember trying the Zebra Dome last time we were there and I can't remember if he did or not, but he liked it now. I tried it again and much like bread pudding - and Dole Whips - I'm not a fan. He loved the Kenyan coffee tart which he said had a strong coffee flavor but didn't care for the Guava Panna Cotta which was a Panna Cotta texture thing for him. Now, that Dutch Malva pudding? He was in heaven with that! It's soaked in some type of alcohol and was bouncy-moist, a word I just made up so do what you can to picture it. He ate 4 of those. I have absolutely no idea what Malva pudding is so I looked it up and it's a South African baked dessert that looks like a cake (duh) and has lots of vanilla in it. It doesn't say anything about alcohol but Steve was totally certain it was soaked in some so maybe Disney just ramps theirs up to get people to return? Not that they need to, we enjoyed our dinner immensely and will definitely go back.
We chose to walk back over to Kidani again since it was so nice out, it's honestly not a bad walk at all. Going back and forth is when we realized how much we prefer Jambo over Kidani. Not that there's anything wrong with Kidani at all, but Jambo just has a more bustling feel and we like that; similar to how we felt in BCV as opposed to staying in the main building, not that the DVC building is far from the main one. With our first (awesome) meal of the trip in the books we unpacked and called it a night. We had to be somewhere pretty early the next morning!

So much fun on the characters! I didn't even realize there was a spot like that in Epcot! Great job hitting the jackpot :) Love the picture with you and Smee.
Hi! It's not a publicized spot and it doesn't occur every day; it's a "training spot", so the characters only appear there if they're holding a character training. I just happen to hit it just about every trip! They also do character trainings down by the International Gateway :) On trips that we've stayed at the BW or BC we've seen characters meeting there early in the morning when we've entered that way, like Merida, Ariel, Rapunzel. Then during the day, whenever we're walking by up by U.K. over the bridge into France I'll glance down and if I see a character or sometimes just a group of people standing around I'll head down. We've seen Tink and Rapunzel there and last August we saw Jack Sparrow, most likely training for MNSSHP pirate:

Yummy! I think when we at the bakery they ran out of school bread. I'm not sure though but the food case was disparately empty and there was no school bread.
OMG I would cry if I went in for School Bread and they were out :(

Maybe there was more in the back but the line was too long for me to find out.
Ever since Norway has become..........frozen, the bakery line has been ridiculous half the time. It ticks me off lol because when we first started going there years ago there was hardly ever a line.

I love this picture of you!
Aw, thank you Su-Lynn

Me too, they are soooo yummy. I especially like blue cheese-stuffed olives. Soaked in vodka of course.
Mmm, I love blue cheese vodka soaked olives, too :goodvibes

oooh I have not heard too much about the Italy booth but this looks pretty good. I don't really like roasted red pepper but the meatballs look tasty!
I never hear much about the Italy snacks at either F&G or F&W, and what I do hear is never all that positive. So I was surprised Steve liked these dishes so much and even though I didn't love the meatballs they were still good. I guess with all the other options at the festivals the ones in Italy just never stick out?

Awww I LOVE these pictures! How cool is that?!?
Such like meeting Smee with me awesome shirt on lol!

Ariane's favorite: This is tough so I need to go by category: adult beverage, obviously the La Vie en Rose from the Fleur de Lys in France. For a sweet item it would definitely be the heavenly Macaron Chocolat Framboise also from France, and for savory......a French trifecta with the Tarte a l'Onion Alsacienne!
the La Vie en Rose drink is my absolute favorite drink at the festival. It was nice to have both March and May trips so that I could have several of them. :) We tried the onion tart but we weren't fans of it. We make a bacon-onion tart at home that is ten times better. Isn't everything better with bacon? ;)

I tried something I'd never had before since it didn't have any seafood in it (remember I don't do seafood); the Mulligatawny: Indian flavored Apple, Rice, and Chicken soup
OMG this was heavenly!
I loved this soup, too. We ate at Boma in both March and May and I had it both times. Now I know that the strange flavor is curry. I usually avoid curry but this was a good amount for me. Friends of the TV show Seinfeld might have heard of this soup. It was one of his favorites.

Coconut Basmati Rice
This was one of the few things that I did not like at all.

more Strip-Loin with horseradish on the side, corn muffins that were called something a little different, and a salad that I swore was the Apple Jicama Salad but the picture seems to be missing apple so, your guess is as good as mine!
I liked the meat and your rare piece looks good to me. ;) I had two servings of the Apple Jicama salad. I thought the dressing was very good.

starting with the Zebra Dome and going clockwise, you have an Oreo Cheesecake Tart, Kenyan Coffee Tart, Cape Dutch Malva Pudding and a Guava Panna Cotta
I really like the Zebra Domes, although the gluten free ones that my sister got were better. They have a dark chocolate bottom instead of cake - yum. I really liked the Malva pudding. I think it is drenched in rum or a similiar alcohol. I think I went back for a second one.

We accidentally got off the bus at Kidani the time we came out to see the Christmas decorations in 2015. Kidani is rather boring and the gift shop is pathetic. We walked to Jambo house and it was pretty boring sine all you see is parking lot.

Wow after seeing you're pictures and review I think we need to add Boma to our November trip. We haven't been in several years.
I like your selfie I think Steve is trying to get out of the way :goodvibes
