Two New Ticket Offers for DVC Members!

I think the key might be to convert and use the Gold Certificate to a ticket first and then upgrade. This way, once you use the Gold ticket, it now has an expiration date associated with it (i.e. 13 months from when you first used it to enter a park). When you go to upgrade, you should get the same original expiration date.

I'm just guessing here...
Actually, the expiration date is assigned when the CM activates the pass and not when first used. These are typically the same day for most people.

That's my thought too. Those who are holding gold certificates with the 13 mo expiration may not be able to upgrade and retain the 13 months for the price of 12 promo (might be an either or kind of thing) but those that activate it probably will

Thanks for clarifying...didn't know that!

So the key might be to just get the 13-month Gold AP certificate activated.

Interesting... how do you get vouchers in advance? Just buy them online? That could actually be useful for my situation. I could just buy new AP vouchers and activate them late Decemebr 2018, which would still be cheaper than renewing platinum at the regular price.

THAT'S WHAT I WAS TRYING TO SAY!!! :D

Although that won't get you *all* of Dec 2019, will it?

Thanks for posting! I went to Magic Kingdom Guest Relations and upgraded my gold to platinum at NO cost. We just activated our Gold on Monday and had no trouble upgrading to Platinum this morning.

I took all our magic bands and the yellow annual pass cards to Guest Relations. He just used the yellow cards to activate the upgrade. I left the family back at the hotel when I ran over to Magic Kingdom. The process took 5 minutes.

Looks like I will planning another trip with water parks!

Yay! I just hope this doesn't increase Christmas black-out crowds, as this is our first year to go during the black-out period.

I have a 7-day MYW PH (from UT) that I was planning to upgrade to a Gold AP. So am I just out of luck on this promotion? Will I still be able to upgrade my ticket to a Gold AP?

Not quite, but we go at most 2x a year (not including the occasional 3-night NYE rendezvous) so that doesn't really matter. Still a bummer I won't be able to just renew the existing AP to platinum for when we'll actually use the platinum. But like I said, I'll make up for it with a couple of visits to Volcano Bay. :D

As a note, using touringplans.com ticket finder, there is still a better monetary deal including tax on a 7 day park hopper ($462) than this DVC special ($473.93).

The DVC 7-Day tickets are valid for 6 months from first use (first use must be by 12/31/2018), so that could be a huge advantage for someone that will have multiple trips during the time frame.

I didn't think about upgrading on our Aug trip. I have a Platinum AP we have a trip planned in Aug, so we can upgrade to Platinum Plus for free?

Understood. I was just speaking about a dollar value. The $462 is the basic (you have 14 days from first use).

I have a question.. we already have 7 day park hoppers we were going to use this Xmas. However now with the DVC deal trying to see if it makes sense for us to get an AP. We are from Seattle but often make it out at least once a year. We are DVC owners so we could come more if the timing was right.

Question is I've seen people apply their tickets to an AP and pay the difference. Would this work in this case or no bc it's a DVC special?

Will my following plan work? I have to AP's that expire at the end of October that in my example I would not renew. I have two MYW tickets I will be using to bridge to the new DVC AP offering before October 1 in order to get the 13 month offering. I will want to bridge to an AP voucher instead of the actual AP so the clock will not begin on the 13 months. I will then use my AP vouchers at the end of September 2018 that would expire at the end of Oct 2019 for several more trips.

Now reading the release again, is the 13 month option only available only on renewals? If this is correct, can I still at least bridge to AP vouchers while on my trip this fall since I will not be back prior to the January 3rd and not begin using them to the fall of 2018 for another 12 months from that point?

Hopefully more and more people will report back on this. I'm fine hanging on to my gold cert w/13 months until our trip and then activating first, then upgrading if I can keep my extra month.

Based on what is showing on the website, it looks like the DVC Gold AP and Platinum+ AP prices are the same. $559. Based on other reports, it sounds like you should still be able to upgrade your MYW PH tix to a DVC AP. You just need to decide which one you will upgrade to, since there is no price difference. :)

I'm thinking I will buy the Platinum Plus pass before Jan 2018 and use them at the end of 2018. We were thinking about taking a break but this offer is too good to pass up. We can go 2018 and 2019 with water parks.

Thanks Disney party:

Thank you! I do hope I can take advantage of the offer!

Wait we can upgrade our active gold APs to platinum pluses for free?

We have 2 active gold APs, 1 renewal certificate that needs to be redeemed for a gold and then then one 7 day ticket I had planned to upgrade to gold for my 3 year old. All when we go next in October.
