Refillable Popcorn Buckets

My kids (and I) love popcorn so this is super appealing except for the thought of lugging the bucket around the whole trip. Our stroller days are long behind us, so no easy storage there. How do you carry your popcorn bucket around so as not to be totally annoyed by it?

Just use the handle or a carabiner to hang it off your bag or backpack.

How big are the buckets? I have 3 kids plus DH and I will probably dig in. Wondering if one bucket is enough (even given the cheap refills) or if I should just start out with 2 or 3. Seems like a great investment even if I buy more than one.

There were three of us and we found one bucket was sufficient. Each bucket probably holds four or five cups of popcorn and there are lots of places to get refills. Some people bring little baggies and fill them from the bucket so each person has their own bag.

Good tip

They seem pretty big. You can see them before they fill it up so if you feel it isn't enough you can always get 2 I guess? I'd rather just fill it more frequently than buy more than one but I'm not feeding 5 hungry people! :)

I totally do this at the movies - 1 large popcorn and then i ask for small paper bags (they usually give us small brown paper sandwich bags) and dish out three full bags to the kids and DH and I share the rest. Sounds like a plan! Thanks for the input.

Does anybody have a current pic of the popcorn bucket?

There's a ton of different popcorn buckets. The one below is the typical park one. Each park will have a specific design. This one obviously is for epcot. I have a HS one with mickey as Indiana Jones and an AK one with Disney characters on the safari

Then they have more expensive collectors buckets such as Darth Vader, Tie Fighter, Lotus Flower, etc

You know the bags you can buy at your local supermarket and pop? The regular Disney popcorn buckets can almost hold that amount.

When I heat up pop secret at home and put it in a Disney bucket it'll hold it all except for like 2 small handfuls. That should give you an idea.

If those in your family like eating popcorn a lot then I'd say 1 bucket won't be enough, go for 2. But with cheap refills, you can just eat it then get a refill with the 1 bucket

I did not realize they were that small

Or buy one bucket and bring a gallon zip top bag. Fill bucket, empty into zip top bag, refill bucket. This also serves to keep the popcorn fresh. It is also much harder than the bucket for little hands to dump and spill.

There are two kinds if buckets. At least last November. We were at HS. If we bought one bucket it was only good at HS. If we bought the other it was good anywhere. The single park bucket was Mickey style. The other was generic Christmas. We ended up buying both.

A CHRISTMAS popcorn bucket? Ohhhh, I'm very excited to go now. Two of my loves colliding! LOL

We bought a refillable bucket on our Disney Cruise in February. I'm going to pack the bucket to take with us to the parks next month. Hope it's eligible for refills. Seem to be so many different stories about 'yes' and 'no' so figure all we need to do is ask. If we're told 'no' we'll purchase a new bucket. popcorn::
