Roxymama's 5k to Marathon, Time to Collect Another Castle

I love Roxykiddo's hat in those first few pics!

You're definitely ready. After all, you've done a half before. You're practically a master at it by now. :D

But never a half with no castle or chipmunks or piped in Disney music to distract me. Although I could just listen to Disney park music in my earbuds. Wonder if I can bribe any of my friends to show up in chipmunk suits, hmmmmmm :scratchin

Three weeks woohoo!! you're going to do awesome! You've trained well and it's going to pay off! Looks like a fun fall fest. Whenever I'm around those copy cat Disney rides I feel so sad lol. That's good that you have a Disney trip coming up fast, so you'll see the real thing soon enough haha

Fair point. I definitely think someone needs to show up in chipmunk suits.

It's normal to feel nervous but you've put yourself in a really good place for the runs! I'm sure there will still be some distractions along the way and I think Disney music is a good way to go!

That fall event you went to looked really cute!

Is your 10k/half at the weekend on 23/24?? That's our Disneyland Paris run weekend so we've similar countdowns!

Hope you have a really good week lovely x

Love your Labor Day weekend activities and pics! Roxykiddo is such a doll and I love her fancy hair-do. Nerves can be good sometimes. Gets you ready for the challenge ahead. You are going to do amazing!

I'm trying not to get nervous about my half or my 10k but nerves have crept in off and on. But I am a tad more confident after defeating a hard week :)

Your weekend looks amazing! I love roxykiddos hiking outfit... ; )

Regarding nerves... I look at nerves as showing respect to the race/task at hand. You've rocked your training cycle but you know that these races are things you have to work for not, just something you can bust out with no training. Now is the time for all that work to come together to produce a great result, and you're going to rock it. I can't wait to hear about it.

What a fun "fall" weekend! Your training seems to be going great and so I just know your upcoming races will reflect that! Yay! RoxyKiddo's hair looked fabulous, second only to her hiking hat! Have a great (short) week!

Kiddo thought that the name "jumping jumbos" for the generic dumbo ride was THE FUNNIEST thing.

I tend not to get nervous for races that I've written off as "fun runs" or "not going to race" but when I have a sliver or a chance to do something remotely speedy...ooooh boy do I get nervous. I'm trying to tame that a bit.
My Half is on Sept 24th in Chicago. Hubby is running it too, but we are lone wolfing the race. I'm guessing we'll be corralled together or fairly close. His goal is 2:30. I think he has it in him. My goal is....TBD...but ideally faster than my current 2:27 PR.

She is a doll, that's for sure! There's still glitter in her hair so tonight will be super scrubbing...but I'm sure there will still be more glitter.

Thanks for the pep talk and to everyone who chimed in about nerves. I'm just going to keep equating nerves with caring about something. I wish I could be more of a cool cucumber about these things, but I "care" too much.

I keep forgetting this is a short week! Long weekend = short week! WAHOOO!

Ye I understand that... I think I was most nervous for the half I ran for proof of time for Dopey, Dad and Rachel had already run a quick half together so there was so much pressure! Ooooh so it is the same day as our half, how about I record my Disney run, upload it to youtube and with the time difference it'll be up before yours starts and you can listen/watch along while you run yours and it'll be like your Disneyland??! Too much?! I guess it'd be hard to co-ordinate running and watching youtube haha

You'll smash it.... and you can tell us your secret goal time afterwards :P

Haha, I didn't realize those races were the same day! That's kind of fun. So when I stalk updates about the race I'll have freshly tired legs and a medal instead of sitting on my couch with nada. I guess that's an improvement :)

Being nervous just means you're human. You've put a lot of work into this and would like to reap the benefits. Just trust the training and enjoy your victory lap. If you do the best you can that day, then that's all you can ever ask of yourself.

Wait.... I am writing this to you or reassuring myself at the same time.... We can be nervous buddies. Alright, I think you should go first.

My goal is....TBD...but ideally faster than my current 2:27 PR.

I've got a time in mind! :D :car:

Kiddo decided an American flag skirt, tinkerbell shirt and moose hat was "hiking clothes"

That makes perfect sense.
American flag skirt - because what could be more American than hiking?
Tinkerbell shirt - because when your Mommy runs a Tinkerbell race, you know Tinkerbell is great for all athletic activities.
Moose hat - Candians hike. Because there's nothing to do in Canada other than hiking and moose-watching.
Roxykiddo's outfit choice makes perfect sense here.
Also ... she probably wanted the Tink shirt to match your Tink wristlet (yes, I saw that there!)

In terms of nerves ... nerves are totally normal. I can't think of a single time that I wasn't super nervous before a race. Just take a deep breath and trust your training and you'll do awesome!

Definitely understand. I tend to worry about a lot of things, so I am not surprised that I get nervous about races (specifically if time goals are involved). I'm going to keep repeating DB's advice above, which btw, I copied and pasted for safekeeping :D: "Just trust the training and enjoy your victory lap. If you do the best you can that day, then that's all you can ever ask of yourself."
