The What's for Dinner Thread - August 2014 (recipe index in OP)

Well Happy Anniversary to the October and November lovebirds as well!

It turns out that we will be delaying the actual celebration. I saw on TV where there is a special test kitchen where the chefs from Wolfgang Puck's restaurants try new concepts on patrons. It only seats 8 people per night and is open Wed, Thurs, and Fri. Saturday nights cam be booked for a party of 8, but that runs $3K for the night and we weren't feeling that generous. It books up quickly and i got in right when they opened up the second week in October. We have a reservation for four weeks from tonight which is only three weeks after the fact.

Monday I had great plans for dinner, but due to trying to bottle feed the newborn kittens it didn't happen. We ordered delivery. I got Linguine and clams, and she got a burger. Last night I didn't feel she good and didn't want drive through. She got drive through and I ordered wonton soup and and ate that in the car on the way to band.

Tonight I'm going to make the cod we were supposed to have Monday night. I hope it's still good. It was frozen and vacuum sealed so it should be OK. I have a box of Larry the Cable Guy Beer Batter that I'm gonna try. I ended up subbing leftover potato salad for Tater Tots the other night, so instead of chips with our fish we'll have tater tots. There's also leftover Cole slaw to go with the fish.

Alison, that sounds amazing, so much fun, can't wait for the pictures!

We had Cucumbers, Bell Peppers, Tomatoes, and Brussels. David added a grilled Pork Chop.

Tonight is a deep tissue massage (90 minutes) and then pasta with spinach and ricotta

Congratulations Kim! You just reminded me that my 9th wedding anniversary is in 10 days. We are more likely to celebrate the Anniversary we celebrated for 11 years while we never thought we'd have the right to marry, but that would be a good excuse to get a dinner out! I'm going to modify my dinner schedule!
:thumbsup2
[....and early Happy Anniversary!]

....so, I've been feeling REALLY achy since going to Puerto Rico. I finally went to my doctor, who did a blood test....turns out that I probably have
Polymyalgia Rheumatica, which is a type of autoimmune disease that affects the muscles - mainly, in my arms, shoulders, hips, and thighs. So, now I am on a 6-day regimen of a corticosteroid, an I might have to be on a low-dose regimen of it for the next year or so.....great, just great. I turn 60 and I fall to pieces.....

Yikes, so is it a curable disease or something chronic. The "Rheum" part of the word makes me think of Rheumatoid Arthritis, but it's obviously different. I hope you get some relief soon....

....it's actually not too different......rheumatoid arthritis affects the joints/bones, whereas this affects the muscles, but it could also affect the blood vessels too....yes it is chronic, and worse case scenario, I'd have to be on the meds for 1-2 years, or worse, the rest of my life.....scary thing is, the meds could have a detrimental affect on me...

Hold on to your hats!!! WE were in the Skybox!!!! Last night was one of the most amazing experiences. My employer's wife booked us a room on the 30th floor, and got skybox tix for the 4 of us. Food beverages, servers, and The Silver biller Band! Bob Seger belted em out for over 2 hours.

I knew that they had access to better seats than I could have gotten, so I had asked her if she could get us two tickets and I would pay her. Next thing I know, she has a room for us, and tickets. Wow! Then yesterday she said that plans had changed a bit, and we were skipping dinner, and woudl eat in the skybox. Bud thought maybe he was not dressed well enough. Ummmmm no. You are fine.....she got us something better than dinner.....Food while waiting for a show, during a show, and all we wanted to drink. Its a skybox! LOL! Yikes! What a surprise.

Hope everyone is well. Between a crazy work schedule and being sick for most/all of August, it's been hard to find time for the Dis. It's been a BAD flu season in Australia.
