DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

Nice day here. Still a bit above normal temp wise but a good breeze coming through. AC off and windows open. Blew off anything work wise and started repotting plants. lets see how long before I kill them.

News said 9 foot waves. Good think i had emergency beer. :lmao:

Morning all. Looks like all clear here as the staff are unloading umbrellas and beach chairs. The ocean is much calmer now.

So far so good. The waves look back to normal this AM, so hopefully, the ocean is over. Saw the police or beach patrol wave people out of the ocean past couple days. I didn't see anyone arrested

Glad things are pretty much normal and you can use the beach. Enjoy. And thank heaven for emergency beer.

Had a great weekend get away to with the kids though UTC got crushed and the Cubs blew an 8th inning lead. Nice to just hang out for a couple of days out of town.

Gators with a disappointing loss but unlike in the past, not letting it get to me. Sounds like you had a good time. Oh, and Go Nats.

You may remember DW and I cooked turkey yesterday for the first time ever (wife's sister was only able to visit for dinner on Sunday). Anyway we tried the upside down roasting that Martha Stewart recommended and it seemed to work, it was really good turkey, juicy and tasty.

Excellent!

soooo.... full....

:faint:

Another month plus for that feeling.

G'day dads! Just thought I'd introduce myself as I'm new to the DisBoards. Liam from Australia here :drinking1

Welcome. My daughter is dying to go to Australia. While doing a month long eco trip in Raja Ampat she met an Australian her own age and they became good friends. They keep talking about her visiting. Only one problem $$$. Where about do you live? Any trips planned?

Well, I'm definitely full of it, but....

turkey
stuffing
gravy
mashed potatoes
dinner roll (with butter... I'm not a barbarian after all)
a very few stalks of asparagus (but I skipped the salad)
pickles
perogies
more turkey
more stuffing
more mashed potatoes
more gravy
apple pie
ice cream

Sounds like my Thanksgiving minus the perogies. Maybe pumpkin instead of Apple pie.

Welcome. Dues are payable in dole whips, bacon, beer, or cake. You mail the 820+ of them to me, and then i mail to all the guys. Trust me, this always works. I think you may be our first Australian Disdad. We did have Kasey in South Korea, but he is back here. That's 3 continents represented.

So, would you say that she gets a plethora of credit?

Glad someone caught thay reference. Goodnight Ned! :lmao:

Welcome to the Club!

I am wondering if you are the first member from Down Under??

::yes::

no, no...
I've had 'em many a time.
Including at Epcot.

Dang tasty when well made.
doughy and mushy when done wrong.

Sadly, I've only had them doughy and mushy.

Glad things are pretty much normal and you can use the beach. Enjoy. And thank heaven for emergency beer

.

Had fun playing tennis this AM. It was youngest dd first time on clay courts. With the humidity, the clay played so slow and the ball was heavy. But, she did ok other than sliding a few times, but no falls. Single red flag today, so everyone out in the ocean. We went out with the floats afterwards for a bit.

Emergency beer is almost gone. I need to make a beer run.

we pruned......the hedges........ of many small villages......and let's not even go there with the horses.
Well, every day is a school day. Never heard of them. They look like the pot stickers at O'hana.
Being somewhat closer geographically to eastern Europe than we are, I'm surprised you've not heard of 'em.
Yeah, not a huge fan of eastern european food. Send me down south and I'm happy mate. Especially when its Limoncello O'Clock.

No need to explain. Just going is reason enough.

Whats the beach like?

GO CUBS! Looks like a rain out for tonight's game which would provide a huge benefit to the Nats (suddenly CJ's team) pitching rotation as they would be able to bring back Strausberg for game 4 and have Sherzer able to pitch some in game 5.
I think the umpire blew the 8th inning lead not the cubs. Ball straight down the pipe and called a ball would've been the 3rd strike and never had the home run. Sorry, just a tad bitter about that crap call.
I hear ya but to be honest, crap calls have been affecting all teams in all series. Umps missed one on Jay's bunt last night, he stepped out of the box when he made contact - should've been called out.

Welcome to our little clam bake here.
Now then, lets have a bit of decorum. Apart from that, I'm very impressed you could do all that after dinner. :rotfl:
Almost fell over LMAO :rotfl2::lmao::rotfl2::lmao:

WTH?! Just to tick off Cubs fans as I do not know of a team outside of FLA you follow?
Emergency beer is almost gone. I need to make a beer run.
So you have had an emergency already to have consumed your "use in emergency only" supply? Make sure on your beer run you buy what you are gonna drink PLUS some for emergency...........
Surely you can't be serious.

all together now......
And stop calling me Shirley

I hope you're not serious and if you are, you spelled it wrong --- Knats --- and they can go away from Wrigley without a game 5!!!!

Edit: Rained out, so they can go home tomorrow.

I live about an hour from Sydney but lived in Sydney my whole life before moving recently. No trips planned for the near future, waiting until the kids are a bit older before we do a big trip to WDW.
How old are the kids?
Coming too young and it's just like herding squirrels...just ask @afwdwfan. Andy

Whats the beach like?

Beautiful. This afternoon it was calm, with the sun reflecting like a mirror off the water.

I'm not there but I would guess that there is some sand and some water. ;)

:lmao::rotfl::lmao:

And full of crap. From the fish.

Surely you can't be serious.

and stop calling him Shirley. Do you like movies about Gladiators? :scared1:

How long a flight is that to WDW?

Now, what do to with the leftovers? Turkey pot pie?
Turkey sandwich today for lunch and at least once more this week...

Welcome Liam. Great to have some input from down under!

And I do hope all y'all up that way had a fine holiday filled with entirely too much good food and limited amounts of knock-down drag-out family arguments, strife and battles (or is that second bit of it unique to the US version of the observance?)
We just had too much good food but I'm sure there are plenty of family battles at these gatherings on both sides of the border.

You have girls, boys?
You wouldn't live anywhere near Wollongong would you? I was in Australia years ago and stayed there for a couple weeks. Then did a tour up the coast to Sydney and Brisbane.
