Do Not Disturb Gone! (BLT)

As far as gun laws? I don't know about them, especially in Florida.

But, when my Dad was a police officer, he was Required to carry one at ALL times, even on vacation. They need to be prepared to act as an officer of the law at all times. So, maybe, some of these people are police officers?

I don't think the laws have changed for this over the years, but I could be wrong? Just another take on the gun at WDW issue:)

I would guess there's a difference between a police officer who is technically required to carry a firearm and a person on vacation who for whatever reason can't handle being in public without a gun. Personally, I'm more concerned knowing random people are wandering around with weapons than employees of hotels possibly entering my room.

I understand why Disney has started doing this but at the same time I don't like it. Of course it stems from an incident that happen to me in Vegas many years ago. My now husband and I flew to Vegas to get married. While he went to go grab us drinks I decided to shower. I had already taken off my top and was pulling down my bottoms when these two employees, who were men decided to come check on something in our room. Thankfully they turned and went straight out. But that situation could have gotten a lot worse. From reading other peoples comments something like that has happen to others too. That is not safe. And I have two daughters. What I am suppose to do not shower for fear that someone is just going to walk in on my daughters while I am in the shower? Like I said I understand the why but doesn't mean I like it.

I'm pretty certain even off-duty officers of any kind are not allowed to carry into the parks and at the resorts. It isn't against the law, so nobody would be arrested, but you'd likely be trespassed...if they discover your weapon.

It's been noted that even off-duty law enforcement officers are not allowed to carry their weapons into the parks. If they're found carrying, they'll be asked to lock their gun up while in the park and will be denied entrance if they refuse. Not so sure about the resorts but it could be the same thing.

Disney employees are not permitted to possess weapons anywhere on Disney property, even if they have a carry permit. they caught a guy carrying at Disney Springs and he turned out to be a Disney employee (off-duty), he was fired, although he had a valid carry permit. He claimed he didn't know that was the rule.

dosnt this kinda kill the " check any time saftey" thing?

Of course it does.

In addition we all know that the most Disney will do is say, "we can mark that as a request, but we can't guarantee anything."

Yes, I plan to do what I can to mitigate this.

Disney doesn't want unhappy guests. They aren't going to barge in a room that has the new signs up. There aren't going to be any surprise visits if you have the new sign up for a few hours. A few days, maybe. But not a few hours.

I understand the unknown can be stressful. Just be proactive and see what happens.

Disney employees are supposed to knock and announce themselves before attempting to get in any room.

As far as someone walking in on your daughters while you are in the shower, throw the latch/dead bolt. End of problem.

I wonder what the play book is when someone doesn't answer the door with an engaged latch/dead bolt. I know when I'm in the shower I may not hear someone knocking. I also know that sometimes I'm in my room with my headphones on and I'm definitely not going to hear someone knocking. Probably won't hear a phone call either.

so if the dog tag is on the door, they'll knock.

If they knock and don't get an answer for more than 7 hours then the room occupant has run afoul of the dog policy anyway.

So the dog tag doesn't mean Disney employees won't enter the room or try to contact the occupant about entering the room.

I'd lay money Disney isn't holding tight to enforcing that 7 hour rule. But yes, that's complete conjecture on my part.

Ooo. What if they just steal someone else's dog sign? Talk about mastermind level planning.
but be prepared to have dog rate added to your bill plus any fees for nonlisted dog. you could be asked to leave not declaring pet. not as good idea as it seems
