***Official June 2018***

Hello!

I've not been to this thread in a bit, life was so busy and I ended up having total knee replacement surgery on my right knee the week before Thanksgiving, I am 6 weeks out from that, ironically 5 months out from Disney. I am likely to have my left knee replaced sometime in Jan, no date scheduled yet. Anyway, outside of that I am looking forward to our trip. We have finalized some details, we are now doing a split stay, we will be at POR May 29-June 3 and Orange Lake Resort June 3-9. We are doing 10 days at the parks, well more like 9.5 but it will be fine. We are not doing a park day on June 3 since that is our checkout/check in date.

I have dining booked, we're doing a few character meals and that's about it.
May 30th -9:10 am CRT Breakfast
May 31st - 5pm Whispering Canyon
June 1st - 8:45 am O'hana Breakfast
June 3rd - 8:55 am Bon Voyage Beakfast
June 4th - 12:20 pm BOG Lunch

My youngest saw a Disney planning video and now wants to do BBB, umm yikes. I may try and see if I can get her in after CRT on the 30th but I know it's not likely at this point. I will prob just do the cheap package and bring her own dress. We will see. :) I am still waiting for May/June discounts, because that could sway it her way LOL.

Well I added one more reservation lol

June 7th 6:15pm Liberty Tree Tavern Dinner - I keep hearing great things about it, so I thought I'd book and then decide if I want to keep it after researching it more! Any one want to tell me about their dinner there??

Going from June 17th to the 27th with my best friend. Just switched from POR to Wilderness Lodge.

I have a question for you other June travelers since I feel like this affects us the most. Are you factoring in the opening of Toy Story Land into your trips? I know the FP window won’t be open for some time, but are you already anticipating setting FPs aside for the new Toy Story attractions?

Yes. I plan to book a FP for something that we don't really care about at DHS so that we can change it when the Toy Story Land FPs become available. I'm going to assume that the TSL FPs will be Tier 1 so that will factor in to what I book initially. I had to do the same with with Frozen in 2016...I booked a FP for something that we didn't care either way about and then modified that one when the Frozen FPs were released.

Welcome! Yes I do plan to try to grab one for the Slinky Dog Coaster. If they follow the pattern for the Pandora rides, they'll be open at 60 days out from opening day with all the other FP choices. I figure the coaster, RnRC, and TSMM will all be tier one. Not sure about the alien saucers ride, it could be as well.

That actually makes a lot of sense. And worse comes to worse, if you can't find anything you'll still have some FPs. I had been thinking of just waiting until they released the FPs, but your idea makes a lot more sense.

I'm mainly concerned about the Slinky Dog Coaster myself. I wouldn't put it past Disney to make all three of those rides Tier 1. Its good to know that other people are factoring it in and I'm not just overthinking things too soon. We love all the rides at HS, so that touring plan is actually fairly important.

Thanks for the replies! Its nice to be in good company :)

Officially booked June 3rd - 9th at Pop. Got the discount that was released last week but waiting for the AP discount and hopefully better savings. We are also going to do the 10th-11th at one of the deluxes but again waiting for the discounts before we decide where. Hoping Toy Story Land will be open for our dates.

Ok I have you updated, hopefully the AP does give you something of a better discount!

Just ate there for first time over New Years. We loved it-did the dinner. In fact we liked it so much I also have it booked for our June trip-and that’s a big deal as we rarely repeat restaurants as we like to explore new spots (exceptions being Hangar Bar, Nomad Lounge and Satu’li canteen-these are only must do’s all trips)

We are booked Wyndham Bonnet Creek June 23-30! June was not my choice as we have previously tried to avoid heat/crowds, but my inlaws are going and are supplying the timeshare and discount military tix so we will make do. :smooth: We will have 6 full days (Sunday - Friday) in FL and 5-day WDW park hoppers. Previously we've done Sea World or Disney Springs on our "off" day (Wednesday) but I am toying with Universal this time if budget ends up allowing, as our kids will be 11 and 12 and have never been. Not sure if 1 day at Universal is worth it and/or if we will be dying of exhaustion trying to cram in another park... but I'm thinking about it. We could also give up our second MK day instead but I don't know if I want to do that either. :)

Welcome! Even though it might not be your first choice, and you're right it does get pretty hot, it'll still be really fun! As for Universal, a year ago I would've said give it a shot if only for the Wizarding World stuff but now those rides take Express Pass too. So unless you buy that (which is pricey for each person) it might not be worth it. A better scenario is to stay-onsite there (at Royal Pacific, Hard Rock, or Portofino to get express pass included) or spend multiple days at Universal at a lower crowd time to see everything without express pass. I wouldn't skip a rest day or a Magic Kingdom day, you could end up exhausting yourself very easily, just my 2c though. We usually split stay with Universal and Disney because we like both.

Awesome! I am excited to try so many new places we have not been to before, but also trying to keep budget in tact! lol

We absolutely loved Universal, esp WWoHP, but if you want to do both in one day, you need to make sure you get park to park tickets. WWoHP is ah-mazing if you are HP fans, but even if not, the details are extraordinary. I could have spent a day each easily in both to just see it all and ride multiple times.

------------------------------

I am hoping for a soft opening for TSL, I really want to ride Slinky Dog! It looks awesome, fun and long! I just saw a released video of it running a trial run at night (some where on facebook) and can't wait! I am sure it'll be T1 fast pass because why wouldn't they make it more difficult for us? LOL

Thanks for the advice on Universal! Yes, the main draw for us would be WWoHP, so maybe we'd need to save it for the next trip. Unfortunately we aren't able to hit FL all too often so the temptation is there to try to cram it in this time even if it's just to check it out (which would be a very expensive "check it out" I suppose).

There is that temptation for sure! It works really well for a long weekend but there's always that "what about Disney?" nagging that can happen. Whatever you decide I know you'll have a great time!

I too understand that! We are doing Disney for 10 days and honestly I wanted to push USO/IOA in again to check out the new stuff since we had been last year but decided it wasn't the right thing to do because we would want more than 1 day to do it. We'll make another trip to FL and check out Universal good thing is you don't need a TON of time. We did 5-6 days both times, however we take mid day breaks due to my childs needs and we rode things multiple times and thoroughly enjoyed the WWoHP. You need 3 days I'd say to take your time and see it all.

:welcome: Come join the fun in planning for June 2018! :welcome:

So looking forward to this trip! 2017 was such a terrible year, I needed my Disney fix in 2018 to brighten my days! We are with DVC (Beach Club is our home resort). We were fortunate to get in to Bay Lake and a couple days at Beach Club (we were late in the booking game). We have not been to Disney world in a couple years so i'm working hard to catch up on latest greatest things to do and see! June 15th cant come soon enough for our family!

I recognize a lot of you June peeps from the 2017 thread. We had not planned to return to WDW until 2020 but we had a horrible few months and my mom decided she needs some Happiest Place on Earth to go along with our relaxing cruise in June. So, I just booked us into Pop Century for 6 nights June 10-16. We'll get some park action to tide us over until our big trip in 2020 and hopefully save my mom's sanity.

6/9-6/16 at POR- party of 6- DH & I, DS1 & GF, and DS2 & GF: celebrating all 4 "kids'" birthdays, DS2 hs graduation, and DS1 returning from deployment

I have had the trip booked tentatively for a few months, but we just got official ok from GF2's parents that she can go too! I went as a chaperone on their band trip last April and that was one of the reasons her parents were ok with her going on that.

DS1 returns from deployment in April. We did his graduation trip during the school year his senior year, but we are waiting till after graduation for DS2 so we can all go. All four "kids" have birthdays between the first full day we are there (yes, DS2 is turning 18 at WDW!) and the first week in July.

DS1 and his GF have been a few times by themselves. GF1 also did the college program last year for 6 months- we got to meet up with her on the band trip. She also happened to be their with a family she babysat for during DH, DS2, and I's trip in 2016 so we met up with her one night. This will be the first time that all 6 of us will be on a trip together though!

We have 2 rooms booked using military discount (DH is retired), and will get the 5 day hopper military salute tickets closer to when we leave. GF1 has an annual pass and DS1 may decide to get one too, since his base in is Florida and he may get multiple trips in.

I have made all dining reservations and other plans and are just waiting to pick fp+!

Welcome back! I recognize your name too. I started this up so we could have a proper thread full of (hopefully) helpful information. I'm sorry your mom had a rough time of things lately, I hope this helps!

Ha, wow girlfriends, you're a nice mom! In high school I used to go with my boyfriend's family on vacation and it was always nice to do things a little differently. My parents never would've done that lol. I hope one day, if my son has a nice, non-annoying girlfriend she could go along with us. But only if she's cool! Sounds like you are gonna have a great time!
