Does anyone subscribe to Touringplans.com?

Is it worth it? Does it help?

Any info is appreciated!!

Thanks!

Yes!!!! Love it and use it every trip. I also love the Character Locator and subscribe to that too. $25 for both for a year...totally worth it

I've subscribed for many years and still find the crowd calendar and dining reservation finder worth the price. I do think they have underestimated the overall crowd levels the last few years as attendance has risen. Days they have rated as 3 or 4 ended up being 7s or 8s. But I think a lot of people have underestimated crowds at WDW over the last few years so I can't really fault them. I do think where their data still holds a lot of value is which park to visit on each specific day of a vacation. They seem to have the formula down pretty good on which parks to visit on a given day.

I think the hidden gem of that site is the dining reservation finder. My last two trips it has alerted me for both a CRT and BOG reservation that I initially couldn't get for at the 180 mark. There's no way I would have got those ressies without it.

Agree!

Just used this service for the first time - last week I set up an alert for dinner for 5 people at Be Our Guest. I received notice yesterday that there was an opening at the time I wanted, logged in immediately to MDE and made the ADR. So much easier than obsessively checking MDE several times a day.

If only I could set up an alert for the HEA dessert party dates opening in June

I subscribe to Touring Plans and Character Locator. I use touring plans for the room request option, but Character Located for everything else.

Do they have an alert for discounts on room rates like they do ADR? I was going to try to develop something for myself as I'm a programmer, but offering it as a paid service would be illegal - so it makes me wonder how they are automating ADR. Personally I'm not a fan of their room requests service as it feels rude and counterproductive.

I have subscribed for years. I don't use the actual TPs anymore that much. We used to use the TP for every trip, but my family now with 3 kids and Grandma on an ECV just can't seem to keep up with the Plans. Also, we have been so much, we kind of know what we want to do and how to do it. I would recommend the plan to first timers for sure.

I do use TP to request rooms and the dining finder is Awesome. The dining reservation finder has helped me find several hard to get ADRs.

Curious why charging for it would be illegal? For the record, the ADR locator is free. You have to have an account, but it doesn't have to be a paid account for that. They have alerts when I sign in about discounts that were released, but I don't receive emails about them.

We have subscribed to them for years would highly recommend them. The ARD locator is great and we also use the fax service for room requests, it does not hurt to ask for the room requests you want.

The very first day I used it I snagged a CRT reservation for 2. Since then (that was about maybe a month ago?) I haven't been able to get any other ones (either they get booked SO fast before I have a chance or they just aren't coming in very much right now). So is it worth it? I think so! Even if you are only using their ADR finder and don't subscribe it's a free service.. why wouldn't you take advantage of it? It's so much better than checking MDE obsessively, lol. There is another one you can subscribe to, it's called "mouse dining". With this one you can actually get 6 alerts for ADR's for free whereas touring plans you only get 2. I've never used any of the other features of touring plans but I'm happy just with the ADR finder, I think it's great.

TouringPlans makes money with banner ads too. I cannot confirm they do this, but web scraping is the only way I know how you could know what ADR's are available, and that is a huge gray area ethically.

Disney cracked down on the ones that were a paid service but not free ones like TP.

OP, I have both TP and character locator and feel both are worth the small cost (for different uses). I really like the TP personalized plans and the Lines app. They are very good at saying, ‘Sorry, Princess, you are trying to do too much in too short a period of time. Back down.’ Without that reality check I would probably be late to every ADR and show I ever attempted to make.

It’s a boat ride with dolls, how long could it possibly take? :rotfl2:

I have used touring plans for about ten years. I feel that I see and do everything I want to, and my expectations are high. I would never accomplish so much without touring plans.

Yep to that! The touring plans lines app is more reliable to me than the official Disney app.

Also I subscribe to the Kenny the Pirate character locater as well.

I used the free ADR finder last year and it was pretty great. I had actually forgotten I had signed up until about two weeks before my trip I got messages about ADRs that had opened up. At the very least I'd recommend signing up for that.

We've used them since our first trip in 2007. It was pretty impressive. I update my subscription before every trip.

Yes. Worth it. #1 TP fan right here! The customizable plans are super helpful. I tell anyone planning a WDW trip that TP needs to be their first step.

i'm a big fan of TP!! i use it every time i go. i am definitely a planner (especially when it comes to Disney) and want to make sure i get in everything i want. plus, if you start running behind you can recalculate your plan on the fly based on current wait times (using the TP app on your phone of course). also, their website always has a discount code somewhere on it so i never have to pay full price.
