Wanna buy a Fastpass? It will cost ya $50

I'm right there with you. I can pretend that this is an inequity unbefitting of Disney, but if I am being honest, if the cost of a CL room and this add-on were immaterial to my budget, i'd be on it like white on rice.
I agree with everything you said, except aren't you getting a little tired of it all? I mean the constant demands to pay more for this, that and every little extra everywhere?

I just don't have the energy for all the nonsense.

In stead of pricing things at 20 cents, stores now price specials at bizarre combinations like 4 for $7.99. What?

Gap stores have every clothing rack at some % off, but every rack is different, and none of the price tags feature the actual price. The 10% off EVERYTHING coupon isn't really for EVERYTHING, only a small subset of items in the store. The next day, everything is a different price!

Even some receipts no longer show the actual price paid for each item.

And well, the 'deals' only actually work about half the time. You bother to follow all the rules, read the fine print, align all the stars, and somehow the electronic coupon STILL doesn't work properly. You have to wait for a manager to ring up your order.

This happened twice to me in the past week.

Did you see the story today about Burger King? They give out a buy, one get one free coupon. But if you use the coupon, the price of "one" magically changes to a dollar higher when you use the bogo coupon.

I'm constantly dealing with businesses that don't deliver as promised, and THAT is just so annoying.

So can't book for a few more days but I was curious to hear about how people booked or are booking these extra fast passes??? Is everyone utilizing this more with park hop? Is anyone willing to share their days if they have them planned out with all six fast passes (even if they haven't been able to book their 60 days yet). Curious to see how people have each park planned out or whichever parks they have decided to use them at.

Not a ton of activity yet (which isn’t surprising), but this thread has some posts more about actual planning using this trial program : Club Level Fastpass+ Purchase (Logistics)

As expected people got angry because other people will spend their money.
Sometimes, for some people, for some days it is better to have 6 fast passes than 3. Sometimes it is worth 50 $. Nobody is forcing you to buy this for the entire stay, buy it for one-two days - make sure those ride crazy party members get to experience everything without queues - relax for the rest of the stay.

I must say that as a frequent club level guest I am looking forward to this program for my upcoming trip. I will be travelling for 24 hours from Europe to Orlando, with a small child, hopefully run 5k and 10k, do some rides and chill down for the rest of the holidays. My friends who will be there for the first time, who also have to travel a very long way to spend few days at the parks will surely appreciate this. Clearly the advantage is to having 3 fast passes for one park and 3 for another.. I mean nothing can beat that for me.

Paying for extras always makes Disney community extremely vocal and suspicious of what's going to happen next - are all fast passes are going to be charged soon? They will or will not be, I don't think that failing of this particular offering is going to stop it all together and forever.

TL;DR: Shut up and take my money. Maybe for 1 day pass.

To clarify: You must purchase 3 days of this Club Level FP Option to be used for any 3 days of your stay. So, $150 per person to add this option.

It’s a minimum of 3 days. :)

A little confused. I haven't read through this thread, though I've heard several different things. The last thing I heard was that each person in your group staying Club level, could buy 3 extra FP's per day @ $50 per FP for a total of $150 per person per day for a minimum of 3 days for a grand total of $450 per person. Or if you stayed 5 days and you wanted to buy them for all 5 days, that would be a grand total $750 per person. I was under the impression that it was basically $50 per extra FP any you were limited to 1 additional per day, not 3 additional per day?

The last thing I heard was that for $50 per person, per day, each person in your group staying Club level, would get 3 extra FP's per day, good for any park, with a minimum 3 day stay, which would be a total cost of $150 per person for (9 total extra FP's) over the 3 day period. If you stayed 5 days and you wanted to buy additional for the extra 2 days. It would be $250 per person for a total of (15) extra FP's and so forth. I guess the question is, It's not $50 per extra FP? And the next question is that your not limited to buying only 1 extra FP per day per person?

The “offering” itself is $50 per day, per person, with a three day minimum purchase requirement. The “offering” entitles you to three extra FPs per day (bookable at 90 days before your check-out day) and your choice of a nightly reserved viewing location for HEA, Illuminations, Fantasmic!, or ROL. Just to be clear its not reserved viewing at all 4 parks unless you book 4 days.....Its a 3 day minimum with reserved viewing/seating for each day purchased at the park of your choosing as long as you have park hopper.

Yes, sorry, my sentence needs clarification. Thanks!

listen I gotta jump on these when I can.....its very few chances when I can add a little info or insight on your detailed posts!!!! :)

Dis unpluged covered this and did a pretty good job; I would only add that if a place starts trying to monetize EVERYTHING - even things that were previously free, the overall quality begins to decline for everyone; that in turn can lead to a loss of guests, a decline in revenue and ultimately, even LESS $$$ for the place in the end. Disney may be trying to find that balance in the middle. I can say, I will NEVER pay extra for fastpasses, and if it gets to the point where it is simply too inconvenient or no longer fun to go without paying extra for every little thing, I won't keep going there..

Thanks for that info, I definitely want to listen to their thoughts. I think that's the overall consensus and ultimately every family will eventually decide when Disney is no longer there ideal trip.

I still don't think Disney has crossed that line that they are trying to monetize EVERYTHING, and like any big business, corporation, etc they are looking for ways to add additional revenue. Everything is still the same as it was for the past few years with the way you book vacations, 3 fast passes, and additional fastpasses once those three are completed.

With the addition of Pandora, and the soon to be Toy Story Land, and Star Wars Land, Disney is spending tons of money and while maybe this trial will end up just being a trial, Disney is looking for new ideas to make additional experiences and bring in money which they should be and are allowed to.

I really can't comment on Maxpass because I've never used it but I can't see how Disney would switch over to that system but I cringe when people say to bring back the paper fast passes. I compare it to black Friday when everyone wants that one sale and everyone is running there trying to get it. How anyone would want to go back to that is beyond me. Maybe if your single or young but with a family of 5 like me with young kids there is nothing ideal about fast pass

I'm not saying the sky is falling, but hear me out....

Eventually, these "extras" start detracting from your $800 AP or $125/day ticket.

Get to the park early, see others getting in, ask what's happening, "those people paid $70 for early access"

Go to get on the Liberty Bell at 2, find out that you can't get on, "those people paid $60 for a special engagement on this boat"

Go to view the afternoon parade, happen upon a spot by Tony's, "these people paid extra for this spot"

Go to watch the fireworks, "this spot is reserved for people who paid extra"

Leave at 8, see people stay, "these people paid extra to stay"

This is definitely some hyperbole, but its not trending in the direction of getting more for paying more.....(on the base admission)

I know they are a business, and we can all vote with our wallets, but it doesn't detract from the point.

They haven't taken it to the point where we can't enjoy our visits, but I feel like if they stay on this trajectory it will reach that point.

Thanks for the indulgence!

Great post. I don't think it will be long before Disney is only for the "rich".

I don't think this is hyperbole at all

Many of these things are takeaways from regular ticketholders.

These FPs are coming out of the FP bucket. They aren't creating new FPs out of thin air

Personally I believe my time is worth money also. I can pay $50 a day to not have to wait in line for 3 rides and not have to stake a place out to watch a show which cuts into my park touring. I am fortunate enough to have gone to Disney multiple times so I know it’s different for me as I am not a person who has to hit every ride every visit but I am also not going to waste 3 hours of my life waiting to ride FOP. I can spend $50 which works out to $12.50 and hour. I have to ask myself is my time worth more then minimum wage. I believe so. I understand this is not for everyone just like the extra dessert parties aren’t for me.
