I think 830pm is unacceptable. I thought the rooms were guaranteed by 5pm (or something like that). I feel like they should have credited you for the night.
We also had trouble getting into our room. We arrived at 4:30 and didn’t get a room until 7.

Were at the airport preparing to head home. We had a great trip, although definitely had some issues at Pop. That being said, I would still stay there on our next trip because the price is right. It was just the 2 of us, and we experienced both a refurbished and an older room. As mentioned previously, we had issues with check-in, and with a toxic odor in our room, which caused the room change mid trip from 80s to 50s. We were in each room for 4 nights. Our thoughts:

- space: the old room was a king room. The new room was a queen room. We left the Murphy bed up the whole time, but it still felt tight, especially between the bed and the wall

- storage: the bathroom storage in the new room was great, and we don’t use much hanging space, so it worked for us. But we liked the extra drawer space in the old rooms. I also loved the space for snacks near the coffee maker in the new room.

-bathrooms: this is where the new rooms shine. We had the soap dispensers (which we prefer) and a standup shower (also preferred). The old room bathroom was much tighter. It was difficult to shut the door without being too close to the toilet. The shower heads in the new rooms are also much nicer.

- beds: the new beds are so much more comfortable. They also have much nicer pillows. The pillows in the old rooms are flatter

- floors: our floors in the new room appeared lighter than some of the photos I’ve seen. We had no issues with cleanliness in the new room. The old room had the distinct odor of feet and wet carpet. It was pretty gross.

- location: holy cow the 80s are far. We were in building 7, with a lake view by the stairs. That walk was really far. We are people that generally prefer to walk, but it really wore on us. We also appeared to be the only adults in the building, completely surrounded by the 15 groups. That being said, they weren’t as noisy as I expected. All we really heard were doors opening/closing and toilets. The toilets are the same in the old rooms. The doors were louder as I think they were coming and going more. It really wasn’t bad though. In the 50s, we were in building 1, and the walk was great. We were on the ground floor and it wasn’t too noisy.

Housekeeping- we skipped housekeeping, although they still came a few times and refreshed towels and made our bed. We saw them in the walkways a few times and handed off our trash/towels to ask for new ones

Security check- we had one issue with the security check. We were only in the room one day when it happened. They came at 8:25. We had just woken up and I was in the shower. They knocked and my husband told them we were still here and to come back later. They kept knocking so he cracked the door (in his undies). They asked if everyone was decent, he said no. She said she needed to do a quick room check and walked in (with him in his underwear!). She walked all the way to the bathroom area. Luckily I had closed the door, which doesn’t always happen. He was taken aback (I forgot to warn him...oops) and said next time he would have kept the door closed more so they couldn’t push in. I understand the need, but they need to work on execution. He was pretty embarrassed to be standing there half naked.

Again, overall it was a good trip. The parks were great. For our next trip, we’ll look at our offsite options a bit more but we likely won’t be able to beat that price.

Wow. That is one issue too many. :sad2:

I'm pretty easy going, but if I told security, no we're not decent and they walk in anyways, I'd be down at the front desk in a flash to report it. Why even bother to ask if you're decent if it doesn't matter anyways? :confused3

I'm sorry that happened to your husband.

Going with my boyfriend in July (his first time since he was 9!!!), and we are taking advantage of the free QS dining deal. We were torn between POFQ and Pop, I've never stayed at Pop before. What are the chances of getting a remodeled room? That's like a MUST for me! Exactly how much of the resort is completed at this point?
I like the old rooms, so getting either a refurb or not doesn't matter. You'll enjoy POP no matter what.

We are going feb 27-March 4 and received an email about the bowling pin pool being closed during our trip. Why would it close again in November?
Oh, that's too bad, were you requesting a room in that area? Thanks for the info!

A female CM walks in on a male Guest when she knows he is not "decent"?

I agree-that NEEDS to be reported to the Manager of POP ASAP so it won't happen to other Guests!!!!

TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE!!!!

Does anyone know if there is honey provided to add to hot tea in the food court? We will have the refillable mugs if that makes a difference.

There were packets of honey when we stayed at Pop last year - for breakfast at least, didn’t look for them other meals. I used them on biscuits.

Nope but I was looking forward to that pool because I thought it looked the coolest. I requested a room in the 70s. I actually got that email a pretty long time ago.

Here now had an issue yesterday morning with the bathroom lock. The door in the renovated rooms is a pocket slider. I slid the door out to look in the full length mirror and the door locked itself. We could not get into the bathroom.

I had three lovely housekeepers attempt to open it. Finally we had to call engineering. I was told this happens often! I was shocked! The also told me to keep a quarter handy in case it happens again!

I was annoyed because we missed two fastPasss and I needed to use the restroom.

I explained this to the engineer. She told the front desk about the incident. Within minutes I received a phone call on my cell apologizing for the lock issue. They also provided two anytime fast passes to make up for the two we lost. I thanked them for their excellent customer service.

Watch out for self locking bathroom doors! I was told the lock has to be fully upright. We just close the outer door now I won’t touch this door again.

I just returned from my first stay at Pop Century. I had a refurbished room in the 80s building. Big fan of the new room although I have nothing to compare it to. I wasn’t offered the option of turning down housekeeping. I left the room by 7am and generally wasn’t back until after 9pm so I don’t know of any security checks. This was my first stay at a value resort and wasnt quite ready for the large tour groups. I think I’m willing to spend more and go back to Port Orleans it just seems more laid back.

Just checked out yesterday from a weeks stay at Pop. We had a renovated room on the top floor of one of the 70s buildings. Our only request had been a connecting room with my in-laws and they did accommodate our request.

The mattresses and pillows were very comfortable and we felt like there was plenty of storage for the two of us and our children. Our room had the shower stall only and my in-laws next-door had the type with the bathtub. Both rooms had the caddies installed in the shower with the shampoos and body wash.

When we checked in no one mentioned the ability to decline housekeeping and I had forgotten about it until we had gotten all of our stuff moved into our room. I went back to the desk and ask them about it and it was no problem to set up. My in-laws and I both had emails with gift cards attached within a couple of hours. When we needed clean towels we just asked one of the many housekeepers we saw working and they were happy to exchange our towels for clean ones.

The food at the food court was pretty good and we never had an issue finding a place to sit.

We did see a large dance group as well as a large South American tour group checking in the day after we did but we never had any problems as far as noise or dealing with a crowd.

We did not use the pool so I cannot comment on the crowd or noise level there. We only used the bus a couple of times because we prefer to drive, but the two times we did use it it was fine.

This was my in-laws very first trip to Disney and they were very pleased with their room as well. I would not hesitate to stay there again

***Also posted on the Pop Room Renovations thread.***

We just returned from a one week stay, and a word of warning for anyone who happens to be assigned to room 6418- it was a freaking nightmare for a room. Prior to this stay, we've never experienced issues with excessive noise. This even includes a two week stay in a refurbished room last September; maybe we just got super lucky??

So 6418 is a renovated, connecting room. The location is great being just adjacent to Everything Pop (we booked a standard room and I believe this location is considered preferred??? ). Around 7p, we were resting peacefully in our room after our long 14 hour drive, and then it went downhill real fast. The guests in the connecting room of 6419 came back. We woke up in an absolute panic thinking that they were in the room with us. I am not exaggerating. Not only could we hear EVERY WORD in their conversation, we could hear their kids splashing water in the tub, could hear every sound of them using the toilet, could hear their footsteps, could hear them unzippering their bags, could hear EVERYTHING. It was the most insane level of noise we had ever experienced anywhere in all of our travels. I immediately went down to the front desk and spoke to a manager "Ariel." There was no way we were staying in that room for a week...NO.WAY. He grudgingly listened to my concerns and to make a very long and exhausting story short, we were moved to 6413 the next day. This room also came with its share of problems (excessive noise, hair on bathroom & shower floor, spiders on ceiling, malfunctioned a/c wall controller and refrigerator, just to name a few). Our entire stay was just bad. The renovated rooms are great, but just be aware that if you receive a connecting room, you might be subject to unacceptable insane levels of noise (or maybe not).

Oh, and be aware that you might also hear LOUD construction from the new roadway being created behind AoA. Massive cranes were piling driving and the banging reverberated across the buildings at Pop. This is on top of the renovation work being done in the remaining 60's buildings. Again, not saying you will experience these noise disturbances but it's something to be made aware of.

We come to Disney as its our escape, our place to be free from stress. This trip could not have been further from this.

Just checking back in with updates.

After the room issue, they gave us the elusive 2 free fp+ each, 10 of us. I thought it was pretty bad offer but we got to use them for anything other than FEA, which we had one for anyways. Used them for TT and Soarin.

CM have been amazing. My folks were waiting for us outside beauty and the beast show at HS and made friends with staff. They brought us down to the third row for the show!

Toughed out the rain until 6:30 at MK and had a great day today.

Day off tmr!

I am wondering if this is accurate or not? Any idea when it actually closes? We are there the same dates as you (!). Since I reserved a preferred room, i'm worried they will stick us in 50s. I'd be totally fine with a non-renovated room, but not if the pool is closed, too!
