I’m really disappointed in Disney,
My husband to be are coming to Disney World for are honeymoon in November, 3rd trip for me and 2nd for my partner and we decided that we would like to stay in a resort new to both of us so we chose Saratoga Springs. We booked way back in November 2017 and had are confirmation invoices- everything was great. Until this evening at 21:10 when received email telling my they had basically over booked SS and now sending us to Old Key West - where I stayed last year.
If anyone has any advice on how we could go about changing back to SS, to a different resort (new to both of us) or compensatory gifts or anything please let me know.

I think you need to contact them and explain that it's your honeymoon and that you don't want to stay at OKW. See what else they might be able to come up with.

I agree with this. Is there a contact e-mail address or phone number in the e-mail you received? If so, I would contact Disney and let them know why you booked SSR, that OKW is not a preferred alternative and that you would prefer to be moved to another resort. There was another report on here recently from another poster who reported she was switched from SSR to BC, so an alternate resort may be available. If there is no contact info in the e-mail, call the main WDW reservation number and ask to speak with someone in guest relations.

OKW will be well along in its refurb, and SSR will be starting a refurb. It may very well be that if you stay at SSR, you'll be in the midst of a construction zone.

Just call the reservation line and ask if there are any other options. Generally, they'll gladly work with you to get you something you're happy with.

I think if you respond calmly and in a nice manner mentioning your honeymoon you might get a pleasant surprise. Not guaranteed of course but can’t hurt to try.

They’re both hard to categorize because they’re DVC only. But SS is kinda like the moderate DVC choice with OKW being the deluxe.
Thanks. Never been to other for a stay so I have no first hand experience.

I thought SS was deluxe?

Anyhow, see if maybe they would change the accommodations to another deluxe resort that you would prefer :)

Good luck!

Seriously, all the responses to "nicely" and "calmly" "explain" that it's your honeymoon....Really??!! .... I would be peeved! Disney seems to getting away with too much of this stuff lately! I would call and be stern! You made a reservation for SSR and that's what you expect. I could see if they "offered" you an alternative, that would be different! But to just send an email!!??? The least they should do is call!!! It's not like the airlines and a simple flight change of an hour! This is the entire resort stay! Ugh!!!

I would probably start off nice, but firm that OKW is not acceptable. Then move up the chain of command if necessary. I wouldn’t accept it.

This is kinda how I feel, to be just moved with what feels like with no consideration is leaving my fairly annoyed. Just a vacation and It wouldn’t bother me too much but it’s our honeymoon. Am I being too stroppy and rude to contact them?

It's understandable to be upset and frustrated, but the point posters are trying to make is that venting your anger at whatever reservation specialist happens to pick up the phone isn't the most effective way to get what you want. The person you're speaking to wants to help you. Starting off with anger and demands before they even get a chance to try to resolve the situation...well, there's a reason for that old saying "you catch more flies with honey than with vinegar."
