I love credit cards so much!

We are a family that doesn't get to travel very much either. One trip a year for us pretty much, and we love Disney, so that is almost always where we vacation. If you are that type of family also, the Disney visa may be exactly what you should get! I have dreams of getting the Marriott card and maybe the United someday but honestly, I have to stop and wonder how much they would really benefit me. Disney is always useful!
This is a great point. Earning points you can't use isn't a great strategy.

Just applied and was approved for the biz SPG card! Excited and a little nervous, this is my first Amex! I used a dischurners link :goodvibes

Thanks for the replies! I'm already sweating the $5k spend so definitely couldn't swing $10k. I have an insurance bill I need to pay soon so I was hoping I'd be approved and receive the card in time to put it on there, but didn't want to miss out if the offer changed in a few weeks!

One idea that might make a good drop in your minimum spend is buying SPG points at 35% off (or 2.275¢ per Starpoint) from Points . com. Buying the maximum 30,000 Starpoints would cost $682.50, but earn you 2x on the purchase price using your SPG Biz, for a total of 31,365 Starpoints on the transaction. You could also earn up to 2.5% back through the TopCashBack portal. That could really buff up your account if you have bigger redemptions in mind, like transferring Starpoints to airline partners at 20,000 Starpoints at a time for the 5,000 extra miles bonus, or fifth night free when booking Free Nights stays at SPG hotels. This deal runs through 3/16/18.

Ok, I have a question already! Any reason to not get DH an adt'l card under my biz spg card? I wouldn't want it to count as a /24 slot for him. I assume not

Generally, if the business card doesn’t report to the primary cardholder’s personal credit report, an “employee” card won’t report to that AU cardholder’s credit report either. (So, same with the CIP.)

My Marriott business card arrived today. I went to the Chase site to try to set it to pay online. I fumbled around the Chase site for a while and decided my life would be easier if I just asked my Dis friends. I have the CIP in a business account and my other cards listed in my personal account. Do I create anther Business account, add it to the personal account, or call Chase to add it to the page with the CIP?

Create a new business account. (You might even get a new interface.) I couldn’t add the Marriott Biz to the same business account as my CIP. I wouldn’t want to merge any business account with my personal accounts. Too many technical issues.

So pretty sure we’re going to book a summer disney trip throug the travel agency that must not be named. Cant use ur points there lol. Total cost for room and tickets- 3440.

I have 832 dollars in discover cash, 600 dollars from discover savings account bonuses. Going to try and do the chase checking and savings bonuses when I go visit my sister in jersey next (open a branch in philly chase). That should be 500.

Any other ideas for Cash back? Husband is getting a cip, but we’ll save those points as I’m looking at Europe this fall. Should I burn a 5/24 spot and have dh refer me to the Disney card for a net of 300 dollars?

Not sure if this would work for you, but I'm assuming your 832 in Discover cash is actual cash and not gift card redemptions yet. I used my Discover cash back to redeem for Bed Bath and Beyond gift cards to get the bonus. I turned those into Disney gift cards. So for me $200 in cashback > $250 BBB GCs > $250 Disney GCs.
This only works if your BBB carries third party gift cards, carries the Disney GCs, and doesn't give you the stink eye for using a GC to pay for a GC. (there was a couple bad experiences on the Gift Cards thread). I think those of us on the East Coast fared better, I recall reports from NJ going well and I'm in SEPA.
If it works out for you, it'll get you a little extra Disney money so you can use your other cashback for actual cash things. It won't earn you any additional points when you pay with GC, but I couldn't beat the 20% bonus by using the GC.

I will send you info :) I am not sure if all of us are talking about the same thing but I'll send you what I am referencing!

Could you send it to me too? And if anyone else wants to pass along who they use? I have a bounce back booked right now and was also thinking of using UR points but my thought is if (fingers crossed) I get approved for a CIP then a room payment would go far in meeting the minimum spend. $5000 in 3 months isn’t as bad as some you all have dealt with on the Amex but it still is a lot.

Can someone PM me this information, pretty please?

Perhaps I will add this to the Disney World post on DISchurners.

Sure thing!

I am just under a year with my CSP and trying to downgrade to the CFU. I tried doing it via sm but couldn't. When I call should I ask them about going right to the CFU or should I ask for the regular Sapphire then downgrade that at a later date?

I am still catching up on this thread. I see that you have had some responses but I wanted to offer my experience. My DD was studying in Rome last semester. I used AA miles to go visit her. I don't know if it is helpful from the west coast, I flew out of PHL direct to FCO. Barclay and Citi both have AA cards. The Barclay card is currently 50K miles after first purchase and $95 fee. The CitiBusiness AAdvantage is 60K after 3k spend with first year fee waived. I saved my UR points for hotels. My DD loved Rome, I hope yours has great time!
We are in London right now and just tried Norwegian for the first time. We had a *great* flight and really liked their premium class. The seats weren't lie flat, but they reclined a ton--more than typical premium economy. The service was the best I've had on any plane in a long time. I wouldn't hesitate to use them again, especially given their cheap fares and ability to book one-way. The only issue is luggage. They have a 40lb limit in checked bags and a combined weight limit for carryons. Weigh very carefully at home as even premium class bags were weighed and tagged. My husband was really impressed with the dreamliner and commented that he felt much more refreshed than usual. Dreamliner's apparently use fresh air rather than recirculated, it's humidified differently and cabin pressure is lower than normal. Guy knowledge :)

Ask to downgrade to the regular Sapphire. You won’t be able to go directly to the CFU if your CSP is under a year.

Hilton Aspire offering referrals now! Same as public offer, 25K referral bonus up to 80K (?! Hilton- c'mon man 75K or 100K, 80K is just wrong). DoC link: https://www.doctorofcredit.com/amer...rals-25000-per-referral-share-links-comments/

Thanks for the heads up! Just added mine to our Reddit group in the Amex section. I didn’t see any others. Am I the only one that picked up this card already here? 100k plus a $250 airline credit with your chosen airline ( AA hostage here) which can be triggered by AA gift cards in $100 and $50 increments. Other airlines work too but vary. Plus a $250 resort credit which can be used to pay for a stay according to DPs I’m reading and Diamond status!! OMG! I am almost as excited about this card as I was about the CSR when it was announced. DH got one too and we have decided we are both keeping ours.

Our current plan is to book our first night at Disney in a value or mod and use our UR to get 10 day park tickets attached. We can also use DME one way this way. Then have them transfer our luggage to swolphin and use our SPG points for the rest of our stay. We will then just uber back to the airport. I’ll just need an uber w a car seat. Does this plan seem logical to everyone on here? I’ll then just need a few Disney gift cards to cover our character dining and some meals in the parks.

Couldn’t agree more which is why it is so awesome that this group has a such a diverse travel style, travel goals and are willing to share. I think it really give people starting out to help get a vision that makes sense for them. I love that collectively, we aren’t one size fits all. I learn a lot here from the credit card peeps that don’t do what we do and don’t want to, that I am able to share with friends in my own life and help them with what I learn here. I like to think that some of the things I share here helps others who aren’t looking for the same type of travel but still find a new avenue for meeting their own travel goals. We truly have such a nice community here and you are all so awesome. I’m glad to be a part of it all. :grouphug: Full disclosure, I’m in WDW right now and feeling the pixie dust just being in my happy place!

so.....add me to the list of unexpected expenses made better by using a card I'm meeting spend on:rotfl: I have two toy size dogs, one is 'difficult' -they live separated by a gate...my DH forgot to close the gate that separates them...so a trip to the ER for pets....and surgery =$800 closer to hitting spend on that Amexbiz card.... (I wish I had only one dog but it is what it is)
