NEW DISchurners SURVEY
This survey is open to anybody who has found our thread here (not just those who have joined our reddit group).

It asks some questions about "support" links, helps rank our favorite programs, and gets an idea of how active we are as "churners".
https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/ZF57SRQ

I'll leave it up for a week or so then post some results for those interested :)
Can’t get the survey to work. Keeps sending me back to question 1 after I answer 8 questions
ETA. Finally got it to work. Had to close and reopen the window.

Are we including links for things like Plastiq or just credit cards?

I did the survey butnot sure if it submitted. It took me thru 5 questions and then back to #1.
Hmmm maybe try again? Hit next at the bottom of each page. The issue could be because I went in to add clarifying language on N/A meaning 0 lol.

When did you apply? I did an app for DH on Friday. Just trying to gauge how long I'll be waiting.

I applied the evening of March 1 and was instantly approved but just did an online chat that said I have 92 days from March 2 to do the 2k which isn't an issue. It's my first amex so I'm guessing that's part of it along with them having to put my FF # on the card so it's not just spitting a regular card out. It said 7-10 business days in the email and tomorrow would be 7.

Anyone familiar with Hyatt? I would like to book Hyatt Regency Vancouver in May 2019. Booking isn’t open yet but I was thinking I’d jump on it as soon as it opens because it’s Memorial Day weekend ( not sure if it’s an issue, being Canada but this Memorial Day is blocked) However my free award night won’t be available until September. Can I book and then apply the award night later?

I can't answer your specific question about booking and switching to an award night. But . . . I looked at that hotel for this August, and they weren't taking points reservations AT ALL (and I looked early). Was bummed as I seem to recall it being adjacent to the Sky Train. I wonder if they don't allow rooms on points during the busiest weekends - not sure if your free night is viewed differently for res purposes??? We ended up booking Marriott Delta Suites instead (the Marriott Pinnacle is nice too but the Delta's beds were queens vs doubles and the room is bigger). Another possibility is the Westin (SPG) next to Stanley Park (we stayed there in 2015). The rooms are nice (but not fabulous imo); we LOVED the location next to Stanley Park though. Plus, we could walk to the grocery store and a cheap bike rental shop. We also had a gorgeous view and a juliette balcony.

That would stink if no points res. The reason I got the Hyatt Card was for our pre cruise stay, I have free night lus points. SPG or Marriott would be back up plan but I have no other use for Hyatt

ETA. Now seeing points availability. Maybe the website is acting up. Some dates are available, others not.

I would like to know this also. I'm also planning (maybe) a May 2019 Vancouver trip with San Fran. Early in May though. Can you
reserve the room and when your free award comes ..switch it? I have never thought of that.

So, I don't remember if I got this link from this thread or somewhere else, lol, but does anyone know what blogger she's talking about here? Sounds like some scandal occurred in the "travel hacking" world recently?

The collateral damage is not limited to those saddled with credit card debt. Another kind of TNT exposed its ugly head this week. A “blogger” (and I use the term extremely loosely) decided to market his access to high-status hotel benefits in a public forum. He was promptly (and correctly, IMHO) outed on a major site for doing so.

This same “blogger” has a reputation far and wide for being “that guy”. I’ll just let that statement stand on its own merits.

I don't think you can simply because when I called to use my 2 free nights I asked about calling in to add the 3rd night once I had the points and she said it wouldn't be a problem to just give them my confirmation number. If I could have done it before having the points I'm sure she would have done it then. I called the number hyatt number that's on the credit card to do all of this because I couldn't get the site to book both free nights but could find the single nights. It was a super easy and quick call to do the two nights and easy to add the 3rd once I had the points. This was all for a stay in Paris this year Thurs check in Sun check out of Memorial Day weekend.

ETA - I booked the first two nights back in Nov, the Fri and Sat night. I added Thursday in late Jan/early Feb.

Thinking about getting the CIP this summer. To meet the MSR, I'll have to put a lot of non-business spending on the card, like groceries, car insurance, gift cards, maybe some WDW park tickets through UT. Will that be a problem? Do the business cards look at the type of spending you do?
Go for it. I’ve put all our charges on it to meet the spend and then back off to business only. Dh met his spend by our monthly bills thanks to plastiq.

So speaking of Hawaii...I have discovered the GW on Maui sleeps 4 to a room and they will make an exception for 3 children. We have 3 littles plus a college student. So I need 2 rooms. Uggh. And they give pool wristbands, so I can't smuggle anyone in like we do at the beach in FL. :ssst: Although last year at the beach DH actually told the desk clerk we had 6 in the room. I digress. Also, there is literally ZERO availability for the rest of the year in standard awards. That seems to change often, though. But I don't hold my breath that I will score 2 rooms.
I think I may need to stick with Hyatts then, since 2 rooms is 40-50k/nt total, vs hiltons 140k+. Anyone recommend good Hyatts in Hawaii? Hyatt Regency Maui? Or maybe a SPG hotel...westin Maui? I may need to do 5 nights at 2 diff places to get it all on points...Hyatt using URs and SPG using SPG points. I am also going to look at renting points for a couple nights at Aulani or possibly using UR points there. Since we can do a 1 bedroom, that may end up being less URs than 2 hotel rooms....
Hyatt Place Waikiki was great. Better customer service than the Marriott across the street who had a resort fee.
