Are people always like this? - A Solo Adventure Spring Break 2018 (Completed 5/20/18)

Following along--I enjoy reading your trip reports. I'm a teacher and it bothers me so much when I see kids doing things they shouldn't and the parents seem oblivious (although sometimes I think it is more that they are just not interested in parenting). Sometimes I give that "teacher look". I have to bite my tongue often!
Thanks! Yeah I have plenty of teachers in my family so I know how that goes. Definitely have to hold back in public often.

Flower and Garden!

So I was very excited this trip to check out Flower and Garden for the first time ever. I have never been to any Epcot festival for that matter which is actually hard to do at this point with all of the festivals that they put on. I also chose to go to Epcot this night for extra magic hours which I know a lot of people avoid but I wanted to make the most of the day.

Love the topiary at the front! I also picked up a map and passport.

What a beaut!

So many of your follow the News Round Up thread that I run on Rumors and News, so you know that I have a bit of a MagicBand obsession right now. Flower and Garden came out with two MBs for the festival (actually 3 but that third one was Minnie and didn't come out until about a week ago). I am up to about 24 bands now which includes the free ones.

First order of business was a rather short wait for Soarin! I don't remember how long it was but maybe 30 minutes which wasn't bad at all. I actually was surprised how low crowds were the entire week. I was expecting crazy Spring Break madness and I didn't get it. I timed this trip nearly perfectly.

IMG_3356JPG.jpg

I know many have issues with Soarin and its distortion. I think this ride I did get the middle row 2. Thats the best possible seat. That said I still enjoy the attraction despite its issues. Is it my favorite? No.

I decided to visit Nemo and his friends next!

I had the entire queue to myself. I am not joking. There was not a single person in this queue. It was like the ride was abandoned or something.

IMG_3358JPG.jpg

After I went up to visit the Manatees who had a lot of lettuce to snack on.

Flower and Garden!

Test Track was next! I ended up getting a FP for this.

This car at the from was new since the last time I was there.

IMG_3360JPG.jpg

I have a thing for red sports cars... (my own car is red too)

IMG_3361JPG.jpg

My dream car is a Corevette. My uncle actually has a red one so that might be where my love for them started.

IMG_3364JPG.jpg

Then it was time to check out some topiaries!

IMG_3365JPG.jpg

IMG_3366JPG.jpg

The cars were pretty cool since they were actually the size of cars. I then moved over towards the World Showcase entry.

FIGMENT!

IMG_3367JPG.jpg

Then the butterflies...

IMG_3368.jpg

I looked in the shops a bit too. I knew I would be back so other than the MagicBands I didn't buy anything quite yet. Speaking of that I had already switched out to the Figment AP band for the rest of the night. I forget what band I had on before. It was probably one of my Epcot 35 ones (see I have a problem...).

Flower and Garden!

So I wanted to of course get something from one of the booths. I wasn't sure but I knew the macaron in France was supposed to be good so I headed there. Fleur de Lys is the name of the booth and the Macaron au Chocolat en is what I got!

IMG_3374JPG.jpg

WOW was this good! Highly recommend if you like chocolate and macarons.

I also went back to Les Halles and got a baguette because they are fantastic and they are only $3!

IMG_3375JPG.jpg

After that I headed over to the American pavilion to find something else to eat.

I ended up getting a frozen lemonade and the beef brisket burnt ends and smoked pork belly slider. Its a mouthful but its really good!

IMG_3376JPG.jpg

IMG_3377JPG.jpg

It was dark so the pictures don't look so great.

Woody watched me eat.

IMG_3378.jpg

I continued on through World Showcase after I ate.

Flower and Garden!

Passed by the Three Caballeros...

IMG_3384.jpg

I was lucky enough to get a FP for the Illuminations viewing area so headed over there.

IMG_3385JPG.jpg

Many of you also know that my favorite nighttime show is Illuminations. I love the music and overall theme. I did a lot of playing with my cameras (my DSLR and iPhone). If you are a iPhone 8 or 7 Plus user or iPhone X user I highly suggest the app Lightroom by Adobe is you like taking pictures. It does an incredible job with just your phone camera.

Um hello is there any color other than red for sports cars?! (Former owner of a red Mustang ). Love the topiaries. You really lucked out with low crowds!

I definitely don't think there is any other color! I know I was so surprised on the crowds!

The Flower and Garden Festival is great! Nothing like those topiaries. You also got some great photos of the illumination fireworks!

WE have some shots of the topiaries coming up in my TR. We were there when they first put them up. (We were there between the end of the Arts festival and the start of this one, which I think was like 6 days or something - but they were putting out the flowers anyways.) Nice shots of Illuminations. Not my favorite night-time show, but a good one.

I enjoyed seeing the different topiaries. I’ll have more of them during the day later.

Thanks!

Love the Flower and Garden Festival
The topiarys are so pretty
Did you go in the butterfly tent ?
Your week was like our previous March trips with lower crowds
Our week was insane with Easter and Spring Break :crowded:

I did but that’s for another update ;)

Yeah the Easter crowds started hitting hard that weekend after I left.

I love riding the monorail into Epcot the view is gorgeous with all the beautiful flowers
We have an IPHONE 8 and are very pleased with the pictures
Thanks for the tip about the App

I love all of the models from Walt Disney Presents. I think that was my favorite part of One Man's Dream (yeah, I know, I'm a terrible Disney fan for not caring about the movie at the end).
And you really do need to get to Disneyland. It's something special. My favorite place on earth.

I did not know they were building a new bus loop at DHS. I'm so out of touch with the construction updates. That will probably be very necessary and very annoying, all at the same time.

I love all of your Flower & Garden and Illuminations pictures! Epcot is such a good park to take pictures at, especially when there's something going on. It's always so beautiful.
And I'll have to see if Adobe has a Lightroom app for Android. Although I have a love/hate relationship with Adobe products from my graphic design days ... but my phone has a pretty decent camera, so I should probably get a decent photo editing app for it.

I haven't seen the movie in a while either but it is a good film. I know Disneyland will happen eventually.

A new bus stop will be a big help with the increased traffic at DHS.

Thanks! I am not sure if they have the app for android. It takes some great photos though.
