Disney's POLYNESIAN VILLAGE RESORT Information & Questions

Which of those would be the one to request if I want something peaceful and quiet?
Do you have a Standard view or a Lake view reserved? Are you bothered by boat horns until around 11 PM?

Some basics: All 3 buildings have a patio on first floor units and a balcony on the 2nd - 3rd floor units.
  • Moorea is the only longhouse that has any lake view units, it also has the laundry facility, and is right next to the TTC Ferry landing.
  • PagoPago is the longhouse close to one of the resort parking lots (south side of building), you can park right near your building. You also have good views of the Resort and MK express Monorails on the south side.
  • Tokelau is the longhouse that is right next to the Oasis pool, most centrally located of the 3 longhouses.
My selection would be Tokelau, it's location and the orientation of the building means that you will have a balcony / patio with a morning view with lots of green space or a balcony / patio that has nice evening view to the west for sunset.

We are Standard View. Horns at 11 PM doesn't sound to appealing and will that be after Midnight horns on Party nights?

There are 3 covered pool patios available at the Oasis pool. Call 407-WDW-PLAY ((407) 939-7529) to make reservations. All rentals can be made up to 180 days in advance, and they must be prepaid when reserved. They can be reserved for 1/2 day or full day increments. Pricing varies depending on the season.

Reservations can be cancelled for a full refund up to 24-hours in advance of the rental date. You can also make reservations via the concierge desk at the Great Ceremonial House during your stay.

When I booked my cabanas for July, I was told that if it’s raining in the morning, I can cancel that morning.

We have our first stay at Poly coming up in August!!! We have not stayed at any of the monorail resorts yet and I was just wondering if it is as crazy to get back to (by monorail or boat) as it is the bus resorts after the Magic Kingdom fireworks? We always say we will wait around and let the masses leave but are always tired when it comes time and try to bolt out of there. Which way is easier at a very busy time?

The Resort Monorail, just walk up the ramp and wait. The Monorail can handle many more guests vs the resort boats (small). The Monorail resort line stops at the CR & TTC before finally arriving at the Poly.

I’m surprised there haven’t been more reports about the change to the twilight feast. If the rumors are true that portion sizes went down with the increase in price, we may decide not to get it. I was mostly excited about enjoying the bread pudding, can you get the break pudding to go if you order it at the bar?

Hi all! We just booked our first stay at the Poly for the end of August. :cool1: I read through pages and pages of this thread and got some great tips. :flower1::worship: The cabanas at the Oasis pool look nice since I really like to be in the shade, how far ahead can you book them? If it rains and you cancel do you get a refund? Thanks!

The Poly is amazing, you will love it! Hope you have a great trip. Enjoy the rest of your planning :wizard:.

Hope you have a great trip and enjoy the Poly :goodvibes.

Well, I made it 20 days without killing anyone so my reward is sitting on ME waiting to go "home".

Have a great week all!

Have a great time! :)

I don't know if they will pack it up as I've never asked, but from experience they don't care if you walk off with it. I've taken it with me away to a quieter area in the GCH but I'm sure you could take it back to your room. Plus if you order it from tambu louge you get the ice cream!!

Oh... and it was like $6. Best deal ever!

Sorry, I am starting to come up with a lot of questions. :hyper2:

Does everyone pretty much request a room with a patio or balcony? I'd like to have an outdoor seating area for after my son falls asleep at night. Any pros/cons for a patio vs balcony?
Do they have poolside activities for the kids during the day? :beach:

Last one. Is there seating for the evening movies under the stars? It won't be the easiest for my mother to get back up from sitting on the ground.

Hi!!
I prefer a balcony bc I think it's a little more private but I would take a patio too. I think there are some ducks around who may come and visit though.:p

There are poolside activities.

You do have to sit for the movies. It kills my back too. Are you driving and can you bring a fold up chair for her?

I hope you have a great trip. Poly is awesome!!

Thanks! We're flying so we may have to skip it then, it won't be comfortable for that length of time. The movies used to be so nice when they used to have lounge chairs out. :worried:

Yeah, that's unfortunate. Unless they changed it recently, the movies are on the fake grassy area next to Captain Cooks. I wonder if you ask at the main desk if they could accommodate you somehow.
