Canadian Buffoon's DISmeet vacation - 09/14 - Bowled Over

We'll Meet Again

Some of you may remember Nebo and Smidgy.
Nebo especially, was very active on the DIS
a few years ago. His were among the first TRs
I ever read and commented on.
And I credit him with getting me started.
(So... it's his fault. Blame him.
Name and phone number on request.)
Unfortunately, several health issues
prevent him from writing any more.

I started out reading Nebo and Smidgy's TR's and they always kept me laughing out loud. That is how I found your TR's and you do the same. I do hope that Nebo is doing much better.

I guess it just comes down to what you grew up with. Walking through Sleeping Beauty's castle, it seems massive so I never questioned it.

Sure. Makes sense. :)

I understand that, but just last night I sat in front of the castle watching fireworks and it's the perfect size for the perspective. If I were to want to see something similar at WDW, I'd have to be hundreds of feet back

Now that is an interesting observation.
Huh... Never thought of that.

You may have something there.

I can't imagine where you would have to be to get as nice a view, but I suppose I will find out in 26 days.

::yes:: Woot!

This is interesting. Pay close attention to 2:23 through about 3 mins. That's the song, but they say "La" not "nyah". Its really only about a minute of the soundtrack. There's a ton of other stuff going on musically, but I guess I didn't notice because of all the visual stimulation going on. When I walk away from the ride, I'm hearing the song from minute 2:30.

Poop.
At work.
I'll have to see it later.

I'd have to see a 360° view. For it to be a be technically a beach at least one plane of the horizon needs an infinity view of the water. Also it needs to smell like the sea. Beaches in CA don't have that same scent, but I grew up going to a specific beach on Cape Cod and it had this distinct sea smell that I associate with beaches.

Well, here's another view:

west-beach.jpg

It doesn't smell like ocean, though, since it's not.
So.... does that mean it's a beach if you have a cold?
Or is a beach not a beach if you have a cold?

We went to a lake that was called "Sand Pond", but that was "going to the lake", different from the beach, since you could see houses on the other bank and it didn't have the salty smell.

"Sand Pond"

:lmao:

That's a nice spot for a relaxing day and a picnic. I didn't know it got warm enough there for people to wear bathing suits outside!

:rotfl2:

:rotfl:

(If I didn't know you've been here,
I'd be wondering!)

At least I caught it this time.

:rolleyes1

UGHHHHHH. I hated when the castle was a cake. My high school marching band went that year, and I felt so sorry for the kids who had never been there before!
They were most definitely
a. ripped off.
b. scarred for life.

I started out reading Nebo and Smidgy's TR's and they always kept me laughing out loud. That is how I found your TR's and you do the same. I do hope that Nebo is doing much better.
Well, hello there stranger!
If it isn't the aunt who's
actually anut but is
also an uncle. :)

How have you been???
And :welcome: to the TR! :goodvibes

Not quite positive when I wrote that.
Unfortunately he took a turn
very much for the worse,
but has since been on the mend.
So much so that
I believe he and Smidgy will
be traveling to the World this fall. :)

Okay my tablet wouldn't let me post last night and I fell asleep waiting for it to load. I posted a couple of pages back and you missed it. That's okay, offended. Hoping to get caught up soon.

I remember that cake the first time we went to Wdw. I was a bit confused and sad that I didn't get to see the "real" castle.

So I won free tickets to the Honda Indy in Toronto so I thought I would share a few pictures with you. I haven't been in many years since I used to work down there for the race. Our tickets were for the 3 day weekend and included the Indy Car paddock. Didn't get very many good photos in the paddock as it was inside and quite dark. Our seats were just opposite the end of pit out. . On the Friday we walked by the Autograph session because I wasn't going to stand in the line for ours. I think I got some good photos of the drivers playing away on their cell phones. It seems they were either on their phones or kitbizing with each other. So I found a couple of photos of your favourite drivers and my hometown boys.
For the drivers parade lap on Sunday they took them around the track in golf carts. I don't have good pictures of that because we weren't in our seats yet. I was glad we went to the race but it won't be something I will be repeating every year (unless of course I win more tickets next year).

You may have something there.

::yes:: I still prefer my hometown castle.

Poop.
At work.
I'll have to see it later.

Please watch it because now I'm questioning myself since I keep hearing only the 2nd to 3rd minute.....

Well, here's another view:

:lmao:

Well these folks seem to call it a beach so perhaps I am wrong.

(If I didn't know you've been here,
I'd be wondering!)

Well technically I've only been to Alberta, British Columbia, Ontario and Halifax (Nova Scotia) so I can't comment on Winnipeg, Saskatchewan, or the Yukon Territory.

Wellll…. poop!

I did see the post
and even remember
thinking "Hey! Tammie's back!"

No idea how I missed
replying to it.
A million apologies!

Blast from the past!:wave2:

Well, hi Tammie!
Don't mind me,
I'll just ignore you for a bit.

:rolleyes1

Sorry to be gone so long.

That's okay.
I'll just not reply to you
as punishment.

Life just wore me out for awhile with moving and working on the house and just feeling generally off the rails.

All moved in now?
Oregon, right?

And are you feeling a bit better now?

Hope all is well!

::yes::

Think about our Canadian friends often with all of the shootings. :sad2:

Don't know what the
heck is going on!

Now where was I?

Waiting to be ignored!

So I won free tickets to the Honda Indy in Toronto

Nice!!!

so I thought I would share a few pictures with you.

Thanks for sharing! :)

I haven't been in many years since I used to work down there for the race.

Oh! Then we may have crossed paths.
I've been a few times (3? 4?)
but not for a few years.

Didn't get very many good photos in the paddock as it was inside and quite dark.

Plus... it's usually so packed
with people.

Our seats were just opposite the end of pit out.

Nice spot!
And... where I would sit.

On the Friday we walked by the Autograph session because I wasn't going to stand in the line for ours.

Don't blame you.
I don't collect autographs,
so would've done the same.

I think I got some good photos of the drivers playing away on their cell phones.

So I found a couple of photos of your favourite drivers and my hometown boys.

Thanks! :)

For the drivers parade lap on Sunday they took them around the track in golf carts

Really?
Huh.
Usually it's pick-up trucks,
isn't it?

Tony Kaanan

With Matheus Leist,
his protégé. :)
He's jealous of his hair.

James Hinchcliffe and Robert Wickens
p7132893-hinch-and-wicky-jpg.340446

And Wickens is doing
particularly well!
Currently sixth over-all.

The winner Scott Dixon and the view from our seats

Nice!
You get to see them
streaming around turns
10 and 11 and hard
braking into turn 1.

We were lucky that we also had a big TV screen right beside us so we didn't miss a thing on the track

::yes::

::yes:: I still prefer my hometown castle.

And that's okay. :)

Please watch it because now I'm questioning myself since I keep hearing only the 2nd to 3rd minute.....

I did.
Well... I listened,
since there was nothing
to watch...

And... yeah, that's annoying.
A lot.
La la la la la la, la la la la laaaa…

blech.

It does have the infinity view, but for me it's the salty water smell.

Got it.
So it's only a beach
if it's ocean and you
don't have a cold.

My definition might be
a bit broader.

Well these folks seem to call it a beach so perhaps I am wrong.

:rolleyes2

Well technically I've only been to Alberta, British Columbia, Ontario and Halifax (Nova Scotia) so I can't comment on Winnipeg, Saskatchewan, or the Yukon Territory.

Ah. So you visited the warm provinces.
;)

Really?
Huh.
Usually it's pick-up trucks,
isn't it?
Oops sorry they weren't golf carts they were side by side 4x4 buggies. Not a good photo but you get the general idea of what they looked like. We walked by them on our way in from the Go Train but epic fail - no photos. This is our view from the pre-race festivities before we made our way to our seats. It was too hot that day to sit in the seats until just before race start.
