DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

Some good news this morning, the Doc was pleased enough with my progress I am now out of the boot, and into trainers only, a couple of weeks ahead of schedule. I have a slight infection in my scar, so on the antibiotics for a few days.

Glad to hear the boot is gone!

On another plus note, I rented out all my points, and Disney gave us a refund on the tix, and the points pretty much paid for Rome. Ker-ching.

Certainly not a bad backup plan.

Just not much to report right now. Planning stages of next road trip... but that's about it.

Where to next?

Hi. I'm Danny and I'm technically new here.

:welcome: to the club!

My youngest was 4 when I took her. She doesn't remember any of it... but...

I do know that she had a lot of fun when she was there. Lots of smiles and laughter.
Take the time to head back to the resort for naps and pool time.

Where to next?

Thinking (rough draft) something like this:

Followed your advice.
Not quite sure why I'm in the unemployment line now.
:sad2:

No, not really!

:scared1: :lmao:

Never, ever, follow any advice here. :lmao:

Top O the Morning Dads! DW is on her way to spend a few days with DD so its just the guys until next Monday night. Looks like its a bit slow in here again so hope all are well.

Slow days are good. DW out of town today on first day back to school. I'm playing tennis tonight - 2nd time on knee - so we shall see.

Hi. I'm Danny and I'm technically new here. I joined DIS in 2014 but never really posted much.

Currently I am planning on taking my DD who will be almost 2 in December to MK with my wife who will be at the time 6 months pregnant. It'll be the wife's birthday weekend as well. I'm going to have my hands full for sure, but I can't wait to see my DD's eyes light up with all the music and lights and all that. I plan to do MK 2 days. There is so much stuff there for little ones.

The wife and I have been to all of the Disney parks numerous times (Universal as well) as we are Floridians and live about 3 hours away, but this Disney Dad thing is new for me. The last time we went was in 2015 before my wife got pregnant. Watching all the dads interact with the kids made me really want to have my own little one there to experience this!!

I never really do any of the Disney resorts as we always managed to come across either discounted or even free tickets. I did the time share sales pitch discount tickets thing more times than I want to admit (don't judge), but I am considering going the resort route in the future once baby # 2 gets to a certain age and can make his / her (we love a surprise) first trip.

This trip we found a decent offsite resort and it's just going to be a weekend thing.

Anyways, nice to finally be DIS dad. If anyone has any suggestions on surviving MK with a toddler and pregnant wife I'm all (mouse) ears!!

Welcome. My dds were 3 & 15 months there first trip. My youngest was scared of the masked characters, but did ok with the princesses. It was a fun trip. When we went the following year - age 4 & 2 - it was even that much better and truly the Magic of Christmas morning was everyday. They don't remember, but we do. We tried to vacation outside the Disney bubble and found that we just enjoy it more at the resorts. Sure, the cost is more expensive, but it is the best way to do Disney. We are DVC members and do Disney transportation everywhere (even the buses).

Morning chaps from a Sunny 80f London. Thunderstorms last night broke the humidity. In the garden on the laptop listening to the "Kerrangs Anthems" on the old tellybox. Sabotage is not working, I've got a couple of meetings about work this week. Anyone know Fridays Euromillions lottery numbers? There's £67m on offer, I figure that's gotta be worth a cheeky little place in Golden Oaks or Anna Maria Island......

Depends on how its pronounced. Long A = boobies, short A = delicious food pocket.
TL
Good to know, cheers TL, I know what emphasis to use going forward. Unless of course the lady behind the bakery counter is particularly attractive, then its a win/win situation.
If the long As are for Ds,
I'm more of a B man myself. Anymore than a handful is wasted.....
I like boats.
Motorboats? Are we still talking about paaaasties?
Hi. I'm Danny and I'm technically new here. I joined DIS in 2014 but never really posted much.
Welcome Danny. I took my littlest one when she was 10 months, and she loved it. My boy was 3. We just followed what they wanted to do, and didn't put too much pressure on the trip. We were in the AoA, so we hung out by the pool quite a fair bit. And the pool bar. Obviously. I agree MK is the one, and their first character meet is amazing. We met King Louie and Baloo in AK as their first one, my boy was starstruck and the missus had tears streaming down her cheeks.
We're headed back there tomorrow with her, actually. Wife and son will be along too.
Have a great time Paul.

On the Disney front, we're looking at going the week before Easter, in the kids break. Or August. We now have 2018 and 2019 points to use, so about 450.
How bad is Easter? I've heard some horror stories, but I don't know if that's the Drama Queen brigade on the march.

Have a great day chaps from the mother country.

Easter will be a bit busy due to Spring break, but the weather can be beautiful!! Maybe a little rainy but it's Florida so that's always a possibility.

August is hot. Very hot. And humid. And a lot of rainy. I'd rather deal with larger crowds but nicer weather personally. As a Florida resident, I refuse to go anywhere near a theme park between May and late September.

Cheers Danny. We tend to go in August, as year round schooling in the UK leaves not many opportunities to get the kids over the jet lag of coming from London. I don't find the August heat that bad. We were there in April this year and our second year out there, and your right the weather is much nicer, but we've been lucky to miss the Easter holiday, but it falls right on the 2 weeks this time, so we are left with a bit of a choice.

Well ok fair enough. I forget it's not just a 3 hour drive for everyone. LOL

If you reverse the route and/or delay by a day or two, I can make you that bacon when you get to Atlanta. Is this a Harley shop/poker chip run or do you have other plans?

Welll…. that might sorta be possible. I'm really just working the kinks out. Might be in Atlanta later.
I'll post more details on my TR in a while.

So, you're saying you're sad to see them go?

Welcome and you're gonna love the trips with your kids! As others said, take it easy and be flexible as one day your daughter may need to go back to hotel for a good nap or she takes one in the stroller and is good to go. Ours were 3 & 9 mos on first trip.

My DD will be fine. We go to the zoo and aquarium a lot and spend the whole day there. She naps in the stroller quite often.

My DW who will be 6 months pregnant on the other hand.....

I'm more of a B man myself. Anymore than a handful is wasted.....

.

Well, in America, we like everything bigger. :goodvibes:goodvibes

As for Easter, I only heard horror stories. I'll never go though to see how bad it is.

We've been around 20 trips - March, April, May, June, July, September, and October. September was best - I'll take hot weather and low crowds. Still want to try MVMCP.in early December.

So, you're saying you're sad to see them go?

Absolutely. That was always one of my favorite Simpsons episodes. Now that they are teenagers, they need to go back to school.

This really ought to be a Man Law.

I didn't think it was ever in doubt. :lmao:

My DW who will be 6 months pregnant on the other hand.....

Maybe you can get a stroller for her.

Hey Mike, did I read it correctly that you have a Markers Mark Barrel on reserve?
