1st solo trip. To tour or not to tour...

I am planning Keys to the Kingdom and Wild Africa Trek during my solo trip in February.

I just did Wild Africa Trek this past Wednesday on my solo trip. You're going to love it, it's a great tour. :)

Glad to hear it. I am a bit nervous going solo though. I have always wanted to do this tour, so I figured this was my chance!

Did you get a lot of pictures taken by the tour guide even though you were solo.

Trying to figure out if I need to take a camera or just enjoy.

The guides took a ton of pictures, of the animals and of the people in the group, and they said if there was anything in particular that you wanted a picture of, just to tell them and they'd make sure to get it. They also took a lot of pictures of us at the different stopping points. I took my phone to take pictures just in case, but ended up not using it much. :)

How did you attach your phone to yourself?

They have wrist straps that hook to your case (if you have a sturdy case, they looped it through the charger hole in my case), then they attach it to a carabiner attached to a string attached to your vest. Then you just keep the phone in the pocket on the vest until you want to use it. :)

Oh great! I was looking to buy something, but if they provide something that’s great.

They're super prepared and super efficient. They also have strings to put on your sunglasses so you can wear those too. :)

Caring for Giants is FABULOUS, and really inexpensive. Could I ask...how were the drinks and apps on Savannah tour? It's expensive, but I love AK, and I'm going solo in two weeks...really thinking of doing this one...

I really enjoyed them. The food was really tasty and the wine and beer is a nice selection and is unlimited, and with what Disney charges for drinks, that adds a nice chunk of value right there. It's also a very lovely, relaxed setting, with several small tables set up in the boma overlooking the savanna. Also, I have no idea if they still do it, as I went back in Dec. of 2016, but when I went, after the tour was over we each received a lovely souvenir, which was a set of wooden, engraved coasters with the Animal Kingdom logo on them.

ETA: I did a quick google search and found a recent article on the tour that seems to indicate they still give the gift. It actually looks like you now get a pin too, which I don't believe was there when I did it. https://www.celebrationspress.com/2018/09/03/savor-the-savanna/
