I love credit cards so much!

I agree. I'm not sure why so much hesitation on the 2 biz cards. We keep suggesting it and you seem to not like that answer. :P To me, amex biz cards are like free points. Use the points for however many nights you can and book the other nights on URs. This is an easy one.
And IF the hesitation was around the high MSR they’ve dropped that to $3k with the current offer so that’s cool too!

To put some numbers to this...
  • You earn 100,000 bonus + 3,000 base for the first no AF card
  • You earn 20,000 refer + 100,000 bonus + 3,000 base for the 2nd no AF card
  • 226k Hilton points for spending $2,000...NO AFs...NOT BAD!
If you continue with the biz cards (based on where the offers are today) you could earn another approx. 288k Hilton points from those 2 cards and paying 2x $95 AFs.

4 Cards with referring between spouses = 500k+ Hilton points for $190 and $8k MSR...

I'm almost convincing myself to go for this HAHA!
Haha I think you just convinced me! What is the 3,000 base points from?

So Hilton biz and Hilton no af are different right? Is one the ascend? I just want to make sure I have that right.

Will it show on my account a referral link for Dh?

Is there anything I should know before applying. I know the cip had a certain way for us to fill out the application.
There are 4 Hilton cards:
Hilton Honors (no AF)
Hilton Aspire
Hilton Ascend
Hilton Business

Once you have a card you can generate a referral link yourself fairly quickly thereafter. Nothing really special to apply for a biz card. Just use your name like usual.

Question about the Saks $50 free through AMEX Platinum... it's only for the main card right? DD and I have AU cards on DH's account and we can't do this 3 times can we?

So I still do not have the $300 Chase bonus in my checking account from doing a $25 transfer from my Fidelity account... wondering if I'm going to have to set up a direct deposit from my paycheck, which will be a real hassle.
When I click on DoC for the latest Chase offer, it does say direct deposit is required. Not sure if you had signed up for an earlier that didn't require it. I'm thinking of doing this for the first time, but need to check business office to see if DD is easily changeable.

I definitely couldn’t watch it in front of DD5. There’s a lot of gun violence and explosions, some hand-to-hand combat, people get bloodied, lots of people get shot up and blown up. There are at least three sexually suggestive scenes that I recall.
Yes, we hit the FF for those scenes while watching with DD16.

@wendow - I seem to recall the commission was in the ballpark of 10% or less. Do you have any insight on how that works? Is it on the total package cost (room, tickets, dining) or do you only get paid on some components?

EDIT: And I guess of that 10% a portion goes the the "agency" before the commission is paid to the person.
Yes, Disney commission is about 10% of the package price. Since this is my first booking, I'm not sure how it would break down on the separate components. I guess I'll learn more as I go. My aunt has to pay a part to the agency she is under, and then hold some for taxes (about 20% of the commission goes to those two things). My aunt is also charging these clients a 'service fee' to do all the dining and FP's.

For non-Disney trips, I think commissions can be much better. My aunt mostly does cruises and I think she makes much better on those. Disney is more stingy I think (imagine that...!).

I have thought about it so many times too but what I am really good at is finding a deal. And often that means sending them to a diff TA or 3rd party website. Soooo, that wouldn't work well for me getting paid. :teacher:

This is a struggle for me as well. I want to tell these people...don't do the DDP, buy discounted GC's to pay for your meals, call this TA for better room prices, etc, etc. But then I wouldn't make much and honestly, these people are not looking to do the work. They are happy to pay someone to do it for them so I will be their workhorse lol!

I come into this fully knowing that you probably can't earn a liveable wage doing this. Here's some of what I've found:
  • You're going to latch on to an agency and they'll get a cut
  • A room only will probably generate a 10% commission - the agency is gonna take 30ish% of that
  • So you're looking at roughly 7% of the room cost
  • Tickets only pay commission on 3 day tix or more - it's an 8% commission I think
  • I don't think they get anything for the Dining Plan
A Big thing is you don't get paid until the travel is COMPLETED. So if you start now and people are booking 6-12 months out you don't see cash until then.

As a hobby, sounds cool...Trying to support a family or replace a REAL income...sounds scary :)
Some agencies take less than others. I know whoever my aunt is under is better. She did a lot of research before signing up with one.

It's definitely more 'hobby' though I do know my aunt makes really good money. She doesn't get paid until travel is complete but she has constant trips paying out some of the commissions are in the thousands. So, as a side gig, it's not bad. I wouldn't want my dh to quit his day job for this though! Economy goes south at all and people pull back on travel.

Yeah - agreed! I think it could be an awesome early retirement gig though :)

My dream job! TA in general but Disney TA would be awesome. That is always my answer to the question "What job would you want if money didn't matter?" But I am a scaredy cat to leave my stable job even though I hate it half the time!
Fwiw... I grew up in a travel agency. It was fun for my parents at times and at other times it sucked like no other. You do all the work and all the research and book the trip and at the last second a big guy undercuts you by $5 and your client runs to the big guy. No other job where you can work quite so hard for $0 at the end of the day- and because time is money that’s actually less than $0. It’s fun and has its perks but it’s hell to make into a full time career of if you’re starting from scratch.
