Got some great news this morning as I’m packing up to leave WDW .....my SW Biz got approved :yay::yay::yay:. Was 30 days for a full 7 days...then poof..APPROVED!!! I have a SW flight in Nov and Dec. Being impatient, I’ll probable pull the trigger in Nov for the personal. So relieved!

Congrats, same for me on the CIC! Applied last Monday, it's been 30 days and then switched to approved this morning. Phew! I requested it expedited. We leave Saturday for Disney. Hoping it makes it on time!

CSR 8/13/18
CIP 5/15/18
SW business 9/26/17
SW personal 9/27/17
Jared 5/17
Disney 1/17

P2 is 3/24
CIC 9/13/18
CIP 6/10/18
Disney 4/2/18
SW personal9/26/17...AU on my card
Disney 1/17...AU on my card

Next application for me is the CIC....for P2 is the CSP....any thoughts on who should apply now and who should wait until next month...

I’m happy to report that making fast passes this morning went much more smoothly than expected! Considering the huge IT issues Disney has had the last few months I was shocked things went so well.

I heard on the radio that today is National Shred Your Credit Cards Day.

I can only imagine. I am scared to look back haha

Oh boy... where to begin? Here's a slightly edited rundown from last month.

On 8/16, Chase killed Plastiq coding 3x UR on CIP.

On 8/23, the SPG Lux card was released. But effective 8/26, the new restrictions on Chase’s Marriott cards and Amex’s SPG cards make it very difficult to qualify for a card from one brand if you have or have gotten a card or bonus from the other brand.

On 8/28, Chase changed the bonus terms on the Sapphires to only one bonus on a Sapphire product every 48 months.

Starting in mid-August, Chase signup bonus were seeing significant delays in even going pending (they’ve since started posting again).

In early September, Chase began manually reviewing double dips and canceling cards going back who knows how long. As a practical matter, the double dip trick is dead for all Chase cards, whether you're using it to get around a one card per family rule, get the SW CP, get 2 cards at your last 4/24 slot, or just trying to combine hard pulls. Chase will review the two approved cards and cancel one.

Effective 9/14, Chase killed UR redemptions for anything Disney through the Cruise and Tour Department. About a week later, Chase removed all Disney hotels from the Freedom UR portal.

The CSP terms removed the 5k UR AU bonus, but it appears the bonus is still posting when you add an AU.

Referral links are dead for the CSR and Freedom. (They may return again at some point.)

More and more people seem to be getting Amex’s welcome bonus denial pop up warning based on their history when applying for new cards. This would deny them the bonus on a new card even if approved. It seems primarily related to how much spend you put on existing Amex cards, and people who stop spending on their Amex cards after meeting MSR and getting the bonus seem particularly affected.

In happier news, on 10/4, Amex revamped the Premier Rewards Gold rebranding it as just the Gold Card, available as a redesigned Gold or Rose Gold metal card (there seems to be a delay with the Rose Gold cards); upping the supermarket and restaurant category bonuses to 4x MR, dropping the 2x MR gas category for new cardmembers; adding $120 worth of $10 monthly credits usable at The Cheesecake Factory, Shake Shake, Ruth’s Chris, Grubhub and Seamless; while keeping its $100 airline fee credit. Existing cardmembers keep their $0 AF first year and $195 AF until April 2019, then pay the new AF, which increased to $250. The best offer on the new Gold Card is by referral link for a 50k MR welcome bonus, up to $100 statement credit from 20% back on dining for the first three months, after spending $2k MSR in 3 months.

At about the same time, there was a change in the way Amex referrals work. It is now possible from any Amex self-branded card to generate a link to refer yourself or anybody to almost any Amex self-branded and co-branded card, with few exclusions. From an Amex co-branded card, it's possible to self-refer or refer others to any card -- business or personal -- in the co-branded family. You'll earn the referral bonus in the points and currency of the card from which you generated the referral link, so referring from some cards get you a much more valuable bonus than referring from some others.

There are rumors that the Citi ThankYou Premier card will be discontinued to new applications, and persistent rumors that Citi may be revamping their card lineup or rewards program.

Plastiq is running a new promotion until the end of October, where you get 1 Fee Free Dollar per $1 spent on a MasterCard. It's like a BOGO. You must make payments that include the 2.5% fee in October, and FFDs for the amount you spent will be deposited to your account on 11/1. Terms exclude payments by MCGCs.

Marriott's 29 Ways to Stay sweepstakes is live. You can win only 1 instant win prize per account (usually points), and each subsequent play just gets you one more entry into the grand prize sweepstakes.

Hmm, usually weekends are slow, but I am over 400 messages behind. I am a little worried to see what I missed. I am caught up through Saturday afternoon, but will have to wait to catch up on the rest. Life other than these boards is calling. So sad.

Oh man so the 50 points on the first day is all I'm going to get? Bummer I kept checking. I never win grand prizes so I'm not sure if it's worth my time.

In other news, I'm really glad I blew all of my Chase UR points on Disney this spring. It paid for my flights and 6 night stay there.

I just used whatever Chase UR points I had built up since then to buy cheap flights for the next trip I found.

I wanted to chime in and report that I received both of my 50,000 UR bonuses from my sapphire double dip and they are all combined onto my CSR. Its nice staring at 120,000+ UR points. Can't wait to put them to work and continue my CC plans!
I'm so happy to hear you got both bonuses. I remember that Chase lowered the credit limit on one of the cards right? Same thing happened to me (double dipped towards the end of August, then a few weeks later got a call that they were going to lower the credit limit on one of the cards). I literally just met MSR on the CSR a few minutes ago and am about 1500 away on the CSP. So I've been cautiously optimistic about both bonuses coming through. Your update makes it seem even more likely it'll happen.

WOW! Thank you so much for the rundown!!

There really is a lot to wrap my mind around here! I was paranoid about the UR bonuses because I did experience that long delay, but I ended up receiving both 50,000 for the double dip. I applied back on 8/14 and completed the spend super fast. I wonder if Chase will still come through, cancel a card, and clawback my URs? I guess only time will tell.

Bummer on all the Disney redemptions! Looks like my URs will be used to book airfare for my upcoming trip. Something is better than nothing.

My friend switched her Amex to the rose gold the day it came out. She is still waiting for the card to be delivered haha

I guess I have a lot to think about and reconsider at this time. I feel like I should hold off any new card activity with Chase if I have a potential target on my back with that "successful" double dip. I should also see if my CSP works considering I haven't used it since 9/26. It still shows online and in the app so I guess its active, for now!

Again, thank you so much for the update!!!

Yup! I didn't even get a call from Chase. I got two letters in the mail on the same day that both limits were slashed significantly. Kinda annoyed me because I had high charges for MSR and it made my utilization go really high on those cards, but its fine now. I hope my dps are a good sign for you! I am cautiously optimistic that I will get to keep the URs based on information I am just now really diving into about the "death" of the double dip!

Can someone explain the ‘unicorn’ to me? Is it the American Express Platinum or only that one with a specific promotion. I know I have got mailers for that card before but I had no idea it was so special.

It’s the 100k offer. Unicorns and mythical creatures not withstanding then I’d say it’s an offer that you want to go all Aaron Burr and “wait for it, wait for it.” For the Hamilton fans who now have the song stuck in your head ... you’re welcome :-)

I love credit cards too - for the points yes. But that being said, credit card debt is so bad. We are now living off of cash while we pay down our approximately $5,000 in credit card debt and it feels good. It also makes you realize what you are spending.

Most of us here treat our credit cards as if they were debit cards and do not carry balances. Travel hacking and churning credit cards have one cardinal rule and that is never get yourself in a situation where you are paying interest. Interest will negate the value of any point and miles earned. I don’t have a clue what the APR is on any of my cards. I’m never going to carry a balance so it can be 100% for all I care.

It’s a great hobby but not for everyone. I know some of us started with cc debt, got out of it and successfully ventured into the hobby and stayed out of debt. So, it can be done but of course there are some who know they are unable to stay out of debt with credit cards. Congratulations on being on the road to being cc debt free!

Normally I’d say you this month/him in Nov...

But you’re trying to get your 3rd biz card. I’d probably want to put a full 3 months between your CSR and the new app. (Meanings wait until 11/13)

I’d do him next for a CSP...you’re probably fine now but if you can wait another few weeks not a bad idea either.

I think if your URs from the double dip have posted, you should be fine. I haven’t read about any card closures from a double dip in weeks, and I’ve never seen any reports of bonuses that have posted getting clawed back. The worst was probably those folks who had already put a lot of spend towards MSR on a card, then Chase closing that card without notice.

Thanks....you confirmed what I was thinking with the 3rd business card...just need the CICin time to buy $2,000 in Disney GCs at staples to pay my DVC dues in January
Also DH only has the Disney personal Chase cards...so hopefully would be instantly approved

Thanks! This makes me feel better. It does make sense that Chase would not go so far to issue it all to take it back. Closing before issuing or reviewing the app does seem less counter intuitive. I hope those spending still have their rewards attached. What a bummer. Glad I did my double dip first now, I think haha

You will not regret that double dip! You, me and a few others were the last here to successfully complete one :)
