Trends that you hope will go away soon

No, and if I was looking at non-US based things I would understand that. I am on a buy/sell/trade FB page and here are a few younger posters who constantly post with the $ after the number (yes, they are all in the US). And a teacher in our district has done it also - which really annoys me.

I wonder if they do that because we say "ten dollars" not "dollars ten" so they think it is correct.....which makes me wonder about the quality of our education system again.

In addition to the man bun, how about every young man with facial hair. So rare to see anyone clean shaven.

Hmmm actually like the man bun and face with hair as long as it's close to the face. What I don't like are LONG beards - eeeeh shudder. What I would like to see go away are people spending more than a few minutes a day on FB, or social media or endlessly on the cell phone, wish that would go away. As I sit here on social media lol. But honestly I really limit my time and never am in public place or in other's company with my face in my cell phone, ever.

Endless political phone calls on everyone's phones. I know political calls are exempted from Do Not Call, but surely it's not beyond anyone running for office that if I get 4 or more of the same recorded phone calls from or on behalf of a candidate for weeks leading up to election day it may not have the desired effect on my vote.

I told my husband this weekend that I think as a society and a culture we are rapidly approaching the point where we are incapable of properly operating motor vehicles in the vicinity of other human life forms operating motor vehicles. It's a rarity these days to get in my car and arrive at my destination without taking serious evasive maneuvers to prevent a collision or be witness to increasingly ridiculous behavior behind the wheel. Pretty sure a good number of drivers on the roads never drive without their attention on their phones anymore.

The newer thing....text messaging. Just got one today and have had multiple ones in the last month or so about getting out and voting for X (also includes some smack talk) including one when the President was holding a rally in a city within driving distance. Supposedly if you text stop they are supposed to take you off their list...I've been wary about texting as I don't want that to mean I'm engaging in conversation and then they hound me more.

LOL. Not me. Complaints about Zombie threads that are still current get me. Just don't get why people don't skip over them if they don't like them.
A lot of the time, folks type out responses with the hope of being helpful, only to discover the OP’s situation was years ago. Some are still relevant, but many are not. It would be nice if older posts could still be read, but closed.

I guess. I just don't understand why a new thread on an old topic that is still current is better than an old thread on an old topic that is still current.

We have NOMOROBO on our land line. It's very effective on blocking robocalls. Including political ones, apparently. We've hand only one political robocall make it through this year.

In the days before we had NOMOROBO, if(when) I answered a call and it was a recorded "vote for (person)(ballot measure)" call, I would immediately head (online) to that person's/ballot measure's website and tell them "The surest way to get me to vote opposite to what you want is to hit me with a robocall". Probably doesn't make any difference, but it lets them know that at least one person can be influenced negatively with those calls.

Not as many of those, thank goodness. I don't answer the calls, I don't respond to the texts. I'm merely counting down to 7:59 p.m. tomorrow night, dreaming of nothing but silent phones.

I've gotten notifications about nearly 3 dozen calls on my home landline today alone. I have been getting calls from a Katy regarding candidates from one party for weeks now. I had to laugh yesterday when the same voice left messages as normal for the first half of the day as Katy and then I started getting messages from Kelly, for the same candidates, with the very same voice by yesterday afternoon. I'm guessing Katy had worn out her welcome with more than me so they decided to bring in "Kelly", thinking that would smooth things over. All I want is peace and quiet, thank you very much.

It's better because, often, people will reply to an old thread before they've actually read the whole thread. Many times still giving advice (or a lecture) when the situation has already been resolved.

Thankfully I don't get much really in terms of phone calls, have gotten junk mailers though. My husband on the other hand gets phone calls but that's because he'll answer them and talk to the person who is usually conducting a survey/poll on people's opinions. I tell him it's his own fault lol.

I'd love for some peace and quiet too. Political stuff is annoying in itself. It's just more annoying that it goes on and on and on for so many months. I've forgotten what a real commercial looks like lol (whenever I'm watching something that is not recorded). I feel like over time it's just gotten longer and longer that they do things political in nature.

I'm sick of the use of the word "entitled" especially when it comes to millennials. It's harder to get ahead or even get started now of days.
To piggback off that, I’m tired of the “millennials killed applebees” “millennials killed voicemail” bla blah blah

And just the general misunderstanding of what a millennial is. Teenagers are not millennials. High school and middle school-aged teens are not millennials.

I agree with you guys. I raised Millennials and not to brag (GOD forbid) they turned out fine, with jobs and families of their own. Now my younger brother and his three sons 18-23; they fit the description of Millennials better.......but it could just be the age thing. :confused3

I wish political camps would take down their dang signs after the election. They should have 48 hours to take down all the signs or get fined. I hate them all over every corner!

This may be controversial, but I think the misguided war on plastics in Western countries should end, especially moves that target convenience plastics (ie. straws, lids, carrier bags etc.) which only achieve positive PR and does little to affect 90% of the ocean's plastic waste problem, which is mostly originating from Asia and Africa. I can't help but feel that this whole 'going green' bandwagon is becoming a huge fad, especially given the timing of most announcements that seem to be done off the back of Blue Planet II's popularity, not to mention that some even capitalise on that, feeding into the piety of those calling for such moves based purely on emotion, instead of scientific fact.
