*** The Official August 2019 thread ***

Joining in, we are T-4 days from our ADRS that's overwhelming to say the least. August 4th-10th. Staying at CBR. This is my first ever trip.

We haven't been in a number of years but are heading back 2-10 Aug 19, staying at the Boardwalk Inn.

@Tomh hello! After booking airlines this week had to change our dates and hotel from 14-24 POR to 14-23 CSR. Still trying to add the 13th to that reservation! Now reading up on CSR....never stayed there before!

Hey all, just curious if anyone uses Touring Plans subscription and if it is worth it. I already know my dates and used other crowd calendars to determine what days to go where, but wondering if there is more info in the subscription option to make it worth my while to check it out...it is fairly cheap anyway, just thought I'd ask opinions. Thanks.

Roll Call has been updated.

I am not using Touring Plans.

I have used them in the past, on my first trip back in 2008. As for their usefulness, well, I think that they were more useful prior to Fast Pass +. I still think that newcomers to Disney World can gain a good bit from using a touring plan. Those who have been to the parks a few times are probably capable of setting up their own touring plan, and being just as efficient as they would be if they used a plan from Touring Plans. Really, it is all about knowing which rides will have long lines, and when they will have them. Planning good use of Rope Drop / the first hour in the park, and then making the most of your FP+.

I do have the subscription and keep renewing, however, I have never used a touring plan from them. I have been many times and we have our own tried and true plans, lol! What I love about TP is using the dashboard for my trips and the room finder I absolutely love, I have used it on almost all my trips in the past several years and I have got the room I have picked or in the same hall at least 80% of the time. I also love the wait time app. in the parks. I take the crowd calendar with a grain of salt, not real reliable.

Today was my 180 and I got all my dining reservations made. I initially tried through the website on my desktop but it wouldn't let me input my credit card info---kept giving me an error message. Then I did it on the app on my phone and it went through no problem. I went back to the website then and because my credit card was no on file, I was able to make everything else.

Has anyone else had this issue?

I didn't have that exact issue, but . . . in Chrome, most of the time I can't log into the website. The app on my phone lets me log in, and choose the date, then it can't communicate with the server to load the restaurant availability in. I finally managed to get logged in, and make the reservations using an Incognito window in Chrome. Disney's website and app are garbage at best, and boarder on being completely unusable.

Hello August! Just booked for August 19-29. Staying at Shades of Green. So happy to join the August party! :wave2:

Thanks for posting this. I completely forgot about updating my credit card on file and this reminded me to do so. I haven't had problems with chrome, but I make my ADRs tomorrow, so I guess I'll find out then. I did book one meal today, and then deleted it, just to make sure everything worked and no problems.

All this discussion of websites and making ADRs makes me wonder... What do you guys use to decide which days to be in which parks? Do you have a method? Swear by previous advice (like avoiding MK on Saturdays), follow or avoid the EMH schedule, seek out a website or 2??

I'm deep into the planning of it all, leading up to making the ADRs, (and loving every second) so I'm just curious how everyone approaches it. :)

I looked at a several websites. My TA recommended undercovertourist.com but I looked at a few others also just because it is fun. :)

We are staying offsite, so we avoid EMH. Since hours and EMH schedules are never published by Disney in time for us to use that information when we make our ADR's, we simply go by the schedule for the last two weeks that are available, and hope that it doesn't change for our stay. It was so much simpler when hours were posted a week or two ahead of the 180 day window, so we at least knew when EMH would be for certain.

We park hop a lot, but I always avoid parks with morning extra magic hours as my first park of the day. Sometimes we’ll hop over to a park later that has evening magic hours if we feel like staying up later. We’ll often check wait times mid days at other parks and if wait times don’t seem bad, we may hop there. But we are not usually tied to ADR’s, so it’s easy for us to do.

I am really hoping for DAH at MK and DHS, currently held on Thursday and Saturdays. If that's not available, I'll consider EMM, currently on Sun & Tues at MK, and Mon & Wed at DHS. So I made a schedule that works for what I am hoping for and I fully expect that after dates are released, I'll be switching around some of my dining. It's really a pain. My schedule works if DAH is on the dates I'm hoping for, and it works if there are no DAH events during my stay. If DAH is moved to different days of the week, then my schedule will make no sense and I'll have to decide what is more important to me: going to DAH or keeping my dining. (This makes me wonder what Disney could be thinking in not releasing dates earlier...once people make plans, it can be hard to change them. They stand to lose out on potential sales)

I will never again go to MK on a Monday, and I avoid EMH pm days (although I may hop to a park with it) . I also avoid EMH am days unless I am planning on attending it, and then I usually plan to hop when we are done in the morning.

When I started to fill in park days with those constrictions in mind, I really didn't have too many options.
