Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge News - Updated 2/28/19

Likely has to do with their safety restrictions and probably the ride manufacturer.

Makes sense. I guess there are no state/federal standards.

ETA: I needed to do some homework

"State law says "permanent facilities" with 1,000 or more employees are exempt if they have their own full-time inspectors.

Those include the big theme parks such as Disney, Universal, SeaWorld and Legoland. In return those parks provide written reports each quarter of serious injuries, though the brief descriptions give few details."

Here’s some random site saying the “chatter” is for an October opening at WDW.

From the article:
Disney CFO Christine McCarthy mentioned that Florida's expansion should open "later in the fiscal year."

The author of the article fails to mention (or didn't notice) that Bob Iger immediately corrected McCarthy to say calendar year. She misspoke, that's all there is to it. If you listen to the audio from the call you can hear it happen in real time, though you might hear it better if you're wearing headphones or earbuds.

Yep. SWGE in DHS will open in fiscal 2020.

The trackless ride might not have one. Falcon likely will due to its simulator nature.

looking at other simulators (and obviously every ride is different but might give us some indication):
- Mission Space is 40" for Green and 44" for orange
- Soarin' is 40"
- Star Tours is 40"
- Flight of Passage is 44"

So my guess would be 40" of it (flight of Passage is a bit unique in having the singe seat/motorcycle style seat)

If the rumors about the final drop are true I’m expecting probably a 40” height requirement for that. I would guess falcon will be somewhere between 40”-46”.

I wonder if, with it being rendered real time, they would be able to have different level options for the Falcon ... like with Mission Space, more or less intense versions

Yeah I do expect ROTR to have one just comparing to other trackless rides that don't have any.

The article does mention how FoP still carries the 2-hour wait even after two years. I think this line encapsulates what it will be like even after a year two at both DL and HS.

"The only real question is when the crowds at Galaxy's Edge will shrink down from "ludicrous" to simply "nuts."
I know there was some chatter about expecting much longer ride lines even a year out. Not sure how long they will be but I’d say FoP would be the minimum to let ok at

To me the biggest thing is how crowded the Land itself feels after a few months pass. Obviously right after opening it will be nutty and they will have to have controlled entrance to the land - but will it calm down after 6 months to a year? Might be one area where having the land on both coasts will help

The rumor of the storyline of how we load into the Falcon is incredible. I am not sure if this is a spoiler, but....

The Falcon outside the attraction is on a landing platform that can be lowered (not in reality, but for the story). Since we are smuggler's, the ship is lowered underground where the guests will load. After we load onto the Falcon, it is raised for takeoff. What I am curious about is whether we start the simulation underground or when the Falcon is already raised.
