And BOTH Resorts share some GREAT fireworks views!

We used the Touring Plans fax service last time and were allocated pretty much the exact opposite of what we asked for. Check in staff were able to move us a bit which was great, but it was really disappointing at the time, so it's just worth bearing in mind that it is only a request whenever any requests are sent. Saying that though, we're not heading back for a year and would be happy to be in any room at Pop right now!

Know what you mean-we had been having great results with the Touring Plans fax until the last couple of trips, but thanks to the great Front Desk staff at Check-in were still able to get just the rooms we wanted-LOVE the Disney CMs!:)

I still think Touring Plans fax is a good service, but we are going back to our old "tried and true" "Snail Mail" "technique" for our April trip.:)

They do! You can look at the resort, pick out a room, see what the view is like and then make a request through Touring Plans. They send in the fax when it's appropriate. I have used them once but it has been several years ago. I am trying it for my trip this month. I will come back and report how it went.

Cool!! Please do! That sounds wonderful! Thanks :)

It’d be awesome if Disney offered access to AoA pools as a paid extra per day to Pop guests who wanted it. There are a few people I know (myself included) that would totally do it.
I love love love the Pop rooms way more than AOA. But kids go Gaga for the AoA pools.

That is an excellent question.:)

Originally what is now AoA was going to be Pop Century-The Legendary Years(1900s-1940s) and would have been the "sister resort" of Pop Century-The Classic Years(which is the current Pop Century).:)

But 9/11 came along and the economy tanked and the project was put on hold and when they decided to finish Pop Century-The Legendary Years, for several reasons, they scrapped it and went with AoA instead.

So Pop Century Resort actually turned out to be Pop Half Century Resort!lol.:)

But,if Pop Century-The Legendary Years had been built it would have been a "sister resort" with Pop Century-The Classic years and Pool Hopping would have been allowed there like it currently is at the All-Star Resort and at POR/POFQ and at BC/YC.:)

But,Pop Century and Art of Animation are considered totally separate Resorts and,as such,of course,Pool Hopping is NEVER allowed.

POP and AoA Guests can however enjoy both Food Courts, both Arcades, both Merchandise Shops, use each Resort's buses, etc. and will soon share a Skyliner Station!:)
I would have loved to see those "legendary years" themes! Oh well, AOA is a good alternative. :)

I actually quite prefer their quick service area as well. We walked over twice during our last stay at Pop and ate there instead.

I'm glad that they went with the AofA plan for bigger families. But they do cost a ton (50% more beds than Pop and 3 times the money), almost as much as a deluxe even though it is called value, and I would never stay there. My kids don't care for that pool (no water slides). And too many plants in the pool area; seems to not have enough space for seating. But I'm sure many people love it.

Pop's pool is getting renovated. I hope they put in some small, slow, inexpensive water slides! My local 3 star hotel has one. Even a small water slide can really add up the fun without spending a lot of money.

I don't think they can. That pool always seems to be so full during September when we go. But maybe there are fewer people in the winter and they can rent it out to Pop guests.

Disney has to have something to make guests want to upgrade to moderate and deluxe resorts. I know a water slide was a big reason for us to upgrade when the kids were young.

They won't add a pool. Moderates and deluxe have slides because that is a feature you get when you upgrade.

Considering the gondola is opening soon, and there were rumors a few months ago that Disney was wanting to eliminate the categories of Deluxe/mod/value, and both the Hippy Dippy and Big Blue Pools are getting ready for some sort of major refurb that they announced earlier than anyone can recall for similar projects, I'm not so sure they won't be putting in slides or other upgrades. It would certainly give them another justification for raising the prices substantially after the skyway opens.

Pool Slides have always been "off limits" for the Values,BUT Disney has been adding other amenities in recent years that were once thought to be "off limits" for the Values:

Fridges
Pool Towels
"In Room Dining"(expanded menu providing choices other than Pizza)
Full size Hair Dryers
Queen Beds(coming with the Refurbs)
Coffeemakers(coming with the Refurbs)
"Rumored" Full Service Restaurant possibly coming to the All-Star Resort

So,while I think it is still a "long shot" that the Values will get Pool Slides(and an even longer shot for Hot Tubs),I don't think it is totally unthinkable.:)

While nothing is unthinkable, what is the benefit for Disney in adding slides and/or hot tubs at values? Those amenities alone are enough to make some people upgrade to more expensive resorts. If they add those then there would be people that wouldn’t have the desire to upgrade so they stay at the cheaper resorts. I’ve said myself if Pop just had a hot tub I would be happy staying there every trip! (I just really want that hot tub for my aching feet and back after several days of Disney so my Pop stays have always been 5 days or less).

Pop has almost one thousand more rooms than the next biggest resorts.
Can you imagine what one hot tub would look like near the Hippy Dippy pool? :crowded:
Not exactly relaxing. :hyper:

The benefit would be that they could charge $200+ per night for rooms that currently go for much less than that (excluding holiday prices, of course). If they left the All Stars as the only true "value" resorts anymore and moved Pop and AoA (which is already VERY expensive for a "value") closer to a "moderate" designation (again, Disney was said to be wanting to move away from those distinctions anyway), you suddenly increase your profits substantially IF you can convince enough people to pay those new, higher rates.
