Disney to cancel FPs if room is cancelled

Yayyy! This thread is back!

My fastpasses are still intact after cancelling my reservation a few days ago.

It will be interesting to see what others post with their actual experiences in the future.

Sometimes with these types of rumors, I wonder if it’s the Disney police (as I like to call them) that make them up, just to sway people away from taking advantage of these “loopholes.” It seems like they always backfire, as it now makes these sorts of things more public. Take this thread for example...I didn’t realize that you could do this.

Anyway....I have a feeling though that this is going to be one of those rumors that we should put back in the sea or out to pasture!
As far as I can tell, this all stemmed from one uncorroborated tweet (I’ve seen the tweet and the replies to it). Everyone just ran with it.

I could see that - just the threat of it not working dissuading people from trying. I know it pops up every now and then that Disney is cracking down on the whole "split your FP using rider swap" and while I don't think I would ever do it anyway, the fear of it potentially not working at the time further dissuades me from trying it

#WelcomeToTheInternet ;)

Though I do get the interest in chatting about it as if it is true a) it's interesting and will impact some people and b) would show Disney trying to close this loophole, and the timing being interesting with Galaxy's Edge and what does that mean for others, etc.

Oh good, we're back! I came to give a real-life update and it was gone.

Anyway, I, too, made a change to a resort reservation in the days after this was supposedly taking effect, and had no issues with FPs. They're all still there.
Following curious to see when this actually kicks in!!

Thanks. What was the change? Same dates different resort?

Same resort, added a day. I modified online and ended with the same reservation number. At no time did I get any message that my FPs were at risk. The real test would be to cancel a reservation, but I'm not doing that lol!

Great, thanks!

This entire situation is based off canceling the reservation, not modifying. The loophole is from people that dont even stay onsite but book a one day room, get the 60 day window for FP and then cancel the reservation but as long as tickets remained active, they were able to keep their FP. Yes, i know about the people who stay onsite and was using this loophole to gain a few days but the real issue was the offsite and total cancellation. This is all over other forums and confirmed, if ur just modifying ur stay u wont lose ur FP but if actually cancel ur reservations ur FP will be cancelled as well. The key here is Cancel, not move or modify.

Confirmed? With actual experiences, or with only more references back to the original tweet?

Yet the DVC walking loophole is not only discussed but glorified by many on the DVC forums. Go figure.
That's not a loophole though, I would consider it more of a strategy. I learned about it from a DVC CM when I called to as some questions about making a reservation. They suggested I do it in order to get the room I wanted.

Now you’re getting me worried!!! Can you please post links? Should I call Disney? :confused3

Do a search, this isnt the only dis forum. There is an actual forum that talks about all the little loopholes and secret tricks u can do. This has been goin on for years and was called the "throw away room". Im not goin post a link to a forum dedicated to finding loopholes to cheat the system. There is the thing called google.
