Yes I know its early but I will need to re-up my SW SP in 2020. I want to start planning now. We got it for DW at the beginning of 2018 and have had it for the full two years. Best method to do it in her name again with the Biz and a personal or should I switch to me? We will both be under 5/24 by then.

To get the CP the earliest that you can, you should switch to you, as your DW won't be eligible for the sign up bonuses for 24 months since earning the sign up bonus in 2018. Right now the only way to get CP is a biz and personal card although this could always change and we recommend getting the biz first given chase's rules. No way to know what the sign up bonuses will be in a year from now, currently bus card is 60,000 RR and personal is 40,000 or 50,000 with inflight offer.

In case anyone sails NCL, there is an AmEx offer for $150 back when you spend $500. I was looking at possibly booking the new Encore for DS’s Spring Break next year. We haven’t tried NCL and some of the reviews aren’t too great.

So NCL is doing $50 deposits right now.

They are the only line to cruise Hawaii year-round and WAY cheaper than DCL.

Travel Goals: Two future Disney trips

Trip 2: WDW May of 2022. Original plan was to use airline miles for flights (economy) and Marriott points for Swan/Dolphin for 10 nights (50k points per night, 2 nights free so 400k points). THAT SAID – also open to cash back/travel statement redemption credit cards (or any other strategy you might suggest) to cover cost of ANY on-property Disney moderate/deluxe or villa – open to renting points for DVC (actually really interested in this idea since it’s such a long trip – although I have no experience in renting points so yet another thing I’ll be researching!). Zero interest in staying off property, and strong preference NOT to change resorts mid-stay, although would consider one resort hop if necessary.

Welcome to the thread! I just wanted to throw in my 2 cents about a 10 stay at the Swan/Dolphin. We do a good bit of resort hopping and I like to do a split stay with a Boardwalk hotel and then a MK hotel. It takes so long to get into the MK, that it is nice to be able to walk from BLT/monorail from Poly or GFV/boat from WL. I would do 5 nights at Swan/Dolphin and then 5 nights somewhere else. We stayed at the Swan over Christmas and enjoyed it, but the quick service food options would get old pretty quickly. There is a refrigerator in the room, but no microwave. Also, the resort fees/parking fees add up quickly at the Swan/Dolphin. If you rent a studio with DVC, you do get a microwave which opens up alot more possibilities. A DVC 1 bedroom has a kitchen and washer/dryer, but there is a pretty big cost differential. Best of luck with your trip!

I agree with everything @GusGus16 said!

Does anyone know if the prepaid rate for Marriott will trigger the $300 travel credit on the SPG Lux. Whatever it’s new ridiculous name is I forget and do not want to remember. :)

Thanks @Lain as always for your thoughts on getting DH the Biz Green. I did a screenshot of your response and am now contemplating. I can see it both ways for getting the Green or BBP. Realistically he is probably getting the pop up regardless so I probably need to think of it from that viewpoint.

I also think the prepaid rate will trigger the $300 travel credit - not that I've tried it personally. But in November when we went to Costa Rica, I had to prepay for the hotel shuttle to pick us up from the airport, and that qualified for the $300 travel credit. I'm going to keep calling it the SPG Lux too! Such a stupid new name...

If you can meet the $3K spend, I would pick the BBP over the Green since it's a $0 AF card that will keep your MRs alive for as long as you like. Plus it earns 2xMR for the first $50K/yr so it's a good non-bonus category spend card.

Using points tonight for a Holiday Inn Express near one of my son's college choices.

If you're so inclined, prayers and positive thoughts for him would be appreciated! He has a piano audition tomorrow early afternoon. If he can get a decent scholarship that would be really nice. :thanks:

I was really hoping for an increased dosh payout for the holiday weekend. Been a big dud so far.
Walgreens in on pei for 1% though, so maybe could stack with CF 5x if you are like me and have oodles more to spend this quarter.

I've been itching for another Staples deal on VGC so I can run it through Best Buy again. I did get my $75 Disney GCs from Sam's Club today that I used $50 in GCs for.

By cash out do you mean getting a check back or statement credit? You would only get half the value compared to as a travel eraser. Your 50,000 SUB would only be worth $250.
Uh I’m not sure. Are you saying I should do a statement credit?

Happy dance...my SW Biz points posted yesterday, so I booked my flights to LA and Orlando for May and September. Then today my SW Priority points posted...and so now I have a Companion Pass!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Once SW's website stops being broken I can add DH and then add him to all my flights! Yippee!

THANK YOU to everyone on this board who has answered any of my dozens and dozens of questions over the past 8 months or so. You have helped us save so much money on travel for the next couple of years. If it weren't for y'all I'd be sadly saving a downpayment for a house and feeling cranky about not being able to go anywhere fun while being "responsible". You are AWESOME!!!!

Little concerning but I wouldn't be alarmed just yet, however couple weird reports of Chase card shutdowns in the DQ on r/churning -

@SouthFayetteFan don't know if you check out the DQ anymore and saw those? Does this fit into any previous shutdown patterns? Not much info provided but they both only have a few Chase cards at all and on the surface not very risky behavior. Need more info before panicking but head scratcher.

Cool - where’s he auditioning? (I have a music degree - obviously enjoying banking far more now though, lol!)

Maybe we got lucky, but we didn't feel the time/distance from Swolphin to MK to be that bad on our trip last year (spent 3 full days at MK including one day that we took a mid-day break back at the hotel room). I feel having to pack up, change resorts, and unpack to be a bigger time-suck but that is probably a completely personal thing.

And you're totally right about the jump in points from a studio villa to the one bedroom, given we want 10 nights that would be a metric ton of points we'd have to rent (I'm sure we'd have to rent from several people to make it work). The lack of a nuke box wouldn't bother me so much but having in-room laundry would be lovely (as would a bit of privacy for DH and I). But I'm just at the beginning of my research into the trip, there is plenty of time to weigh the options.

The one user has the following stats from what I can see:

06/17 Discover
02/18 Kohl's
05/18 Uber
09/18 CIP
11/18 SW Plus
12/18 SW Business
12/18 Hilton Biz

My usual assumption is that somebody isn’t telling us something on a story like this. But perhaps Chase got concerned over too many inquiries and rising balances.

first one is unusual. but one of the reason also seem to be bustout conditions.
2nd one... its bustout conditions based on this statement "yeah it was the first purchase. I should have known better. $2k attempted funding on a $5k CL. AAoA is 14 months, oldest acc is 2 yrs."

My assessment of the other guy is his oldest account is only 2 years. AAoA is 14 months. He tried to make his first purchase on a new card a $2k bank funding. Perhaps he just ran too hard too fast...or did something else dumb he isn’t sharing.

I didn’t want to cause a panic so I didn’t share this with the group but I was helping my Pastor and his wife earn points towards a Disney trip and she got shutdown by Chase. She had no credit history prior, she got added as an AU by her husband to some older cards and then tried for a Freedom 3 months later. She pushed it thru for approval via recon. So 4 months later I had her try for a Disney Visa and she got denied and then the Freedom was shutdown and they wouldn’t budge.

what was the given reason?
