***Official March 2019 Spring Into Disney Thread!***

We are just back from our week. It was wonderful and eventful. I actually had a (video) job interview (for a job back at home), and later in the week got an offer (which I turned down, but still). We also took tours of a couple of active over-55 communities, and fell in love with one of them. We've decided to turn over our life for the next year or two to make moving there happen.

I suppose that means that eventually we're be joining *every* "Official" monthly "going to Disney!" thread. :)

3:30 am here and time to get up and head to airport. Of course, barely slept last night-we all stayed up too late moving furniture to make room for construction guys to start tackling our new kitchen while we are gone. And then I couldn’t sleep. Hope to crash on the plane-might need a cocktail!

It’s 5:30 a.m. and I feel like a kid on Christmas Eve! Tonight we head to the airport hotel and this time tomorrow we will be headed to the airport. I think I’m more excited tan my son lol! :woohoo:

Safe travels and have fun pixiedust:

Put a new AC compressor in our Suburban and changed the engine oil and filter, the truck is now officially ready for the drive down!! Wife got some new shoes and got my little man some new shoes too. Going to dig the suitcases out after work and start getting clothes together. Come on the 28th!!

Spent the last day home packing, running errands for last minute things, and cleaning the house for my brother in law who will be dog/house sitting for us. Time for dinner then in a couple hours headed to the airport hotel. This time tomorrow I’ll be enjoying the Seas with Nemo! :earsgirl:

Settled in at the Hard Rock. The hotel is gorgeous and at $300 a night, a killer deal compared to a similar quality Disney hotel. We spent a couple hours in Universal tonight-we were pretty wiped but managed to go through Diagon Alley quickly, ride Gringotts, Mummy, and Jimmy Fallon and have a butter beer. The Harry Potter area and Gringotts were absolutely amazing-at least equivalent to anything Disney has done. Mummy was fun, Fallon bizarre. I definitely feel my lack of knowledge of US compared to Disney-have no sense of where I’m going.

Currently at MCO waiting for our flight :( our trip was amazing and I'm super sad to leave! Who knows when we'll be back... Not for a year or two at least. We got so lucky with great weather, great new experiences, etc. It was CROWDED for sure but we didn't let that phase us.

I can already feel the post-Disney depression settling in, so I'll still be following this thread pretty closely to live vicariously through all of you :) I plan on writing a TR when I get home, and I'll be sure to share the link!! Happy travels and trips, everyone!

You didn’t waste any time getting into your vacation mode! I definitely want to check out universal on day. Thinking of surprising the wife with a trip to discovery cove towards the end of summer. She has always wanted to swim with dolphins.

You know how it is! So hard to resist when it’s so close-and our tickets were buy two get two days free-so didn’t want to “waste money” by not going into the parks since we head to Disney Monday night.

10 days to go. I’m so ready. This past week was exhausting, and I’m SO GLAD that we don’t have a house sitter this time because I have no idea how I would get the house clean enough to feel comfortable with someone else staying here.

This week we went through all of the kids’ favorite pins and made little displays for them...shadowboxes with cork board in the back. DH can’t find his lanyard anywhere and he’s pretty bummed because he had some really neat pins.

We ordered a few more so the kids have enough “trade” pins to hopefully round out some of their partial sets (ds2 needs one more specific Star Wars pin, ds3 collects Pluto pins, and ds1 has a bunch of pirate pins and Nemo pins.) We like to hit up the resort gift shop pin board in the morning and in the evening on our non-park days.

Dh is slogging through the snow helping his brother tap maple trees today. It’s not much fun being out in the cold but we do get about 4 gallons of maple syrup out of it. I think I’m going to try to pack the swim bag and get all the new shorts, etc washed. In the past I would be 100% packed by now, but I’m waiting to see if we will have 80s or 60s before I make any wardrobe decisions this time.

Speaking of packing....

Do ALL of the resort pools have towels available? I’d rather not have to bring ours if possible.

Oh yea I know how it is !
We were supposed to leave early on the Friday morning we head south, my boss is letting me take half day off on Thursday, so why wait till Friday morning?? I figure I can make a majority of the drive on Thursday so more time at Disney Springs. Thinking of doing dinner at the T-Rex cafe.

Love the HRH we stayed at the one in Universal Orlando this past November and loved it. Escape from Gringotts is a great ride!. Glad you got to see some of the Harry Potter stuff it's so well themed.
