New charge for Bell Service Delivery

Using that theory, the people using ME should be charged for it (many drive, use Uber or a car service).

Disney doesn’t charge for ME and does charge for parking for the exact same reasons. ME is not a valid comparison to a delivery fee. I am sure Disney has loads of statistics to support the decision. There is a good chance a statistic loving disblogger has some strong theories supported with data as well. I will not tag said blogger as they probably prefer to stay out of this discussion.

Hopefully this charge will be the tipping point for someone that now can not afford to go to WDW. I mean. I can’t understand all the fuss over 6.00. It’s insanity. Just do it yourself and save the money and the tipping. It’s not that difficult.
We don’t even use mousekeepig anymore. Gets us 25.00. Can’t folks just pay the 6.00 and be happy. Or just do the groceries yourself. Simple.

Anyone who doesn't like the fee, fight it. Dispute it. Avoid it. Complain about it. Boycott it. Just direct your issues to Disney.

So, $6 per package isn’t true? It’s $6 per delivery?

I honestly believe it is NOT a cash grab as some might think, this sounds like a full time job and I bet Disney had to hire some full time employees to just do this job alone, thus the cost, which I agree in those using the service should indeed pay for it, just my 2 cents for what it is worth......

Bell services isn't a true paid position, they are paid below minimum wage like a waiter/waitress because they are expected to get tips to bring them above minimum wage. The $6 per order will pay thier entire hourly pay.
People have already stated that they won't tip with the new policy or will tip less.
Customers lose out because we have to pay more
The poor cm's delivering the groceries will loose out because they will make less in Tips.
Disney is the only winner here. They have managed to make guests pay the entire salary of thier bell service people with a seperate charge.
At the very least disney should be splitting the $6 with the cm to make up for the lost tips.

NOBODY knows this, all speculations, I am not sure what the minimum wage is in FLA but it is more then said $6 come on now any other hotel will charge for this service, if you think you are getting nickel and dime'd then by all means stay away from Las Vegas.....There is a "surcharge" for everything and if it is not called that then it is lumped as a "resort fee".......so continue to order stuff and delivered to your resort of choice then stored then pickup again to be redelivered to your room and you will be charged $6.......happy shopping....

Vegas is also 50% the cost of a Disney hotel in the same range.

Not even close there, what hotel is that Motel6?............................

It can be IF you spend that $$$$ in the casino then one gets a room discount, those HUGE beautiful resorts don't build themselves.....

50% of the cost.............:lmao:

I am hoping to find out if the fee is per package or per delivery and if it applies whether the items are picked up at bell services or only if delivered to your guest room. This morning I first called DVC guest services who didn’t know but called the resort (Poly in this case). I was told the resort person she spoke to said the $6 fee applies whether orders are delivered to your room or whether you pick it up yourself from bell services for groceries but not Owners locker (I asked specifically about OL). The fee was specified to be $6 “per box”. Your results may vary depending on who you talk to at Disney.

Then I emailed Disney guest services spelling it all out again, and tried to differentiate as well between boxes of items ordered from amazon that are shipped to the resort vs Amazon prime now deliveries that couriers bring and drop off at bell services. Got an email back saying someone will contact me within 7 days depending on how much research answering my question requires. Nothing yet.

Youre wrong, it's 225 a night for the Bellagio in July. Show me a deluxe for that. This is off expedia, no extra room discounts.

The article says luggage will incur the fee unless delivered by ME? Yikes!

BUZZ.....................

July in Las Vegas is their slow or lower traffic season, summer for LV is always cheaper then in the fall/winter, just plain to hot.......

BTW one can go on said travel web site and get the same for most any Disney "resort"..............

I asked during the phone call whether the groceries I buy myself and check with bell services along with my luggage (we don’t plan to use ME) would trigger a fee and the person from the Poly told the DVC guest services person I spoke to that no charge would be levied in those groceries so I assume not for the luggage either.

The articles on this manner are actually pretty incorrect so far. The article on DIS references a section of Disney’s site that exclusively deals with Mail Delivery that has had a charge for a while now (and is done through the front desk not bell services also this section of the website has been similar since 1/2018 only update was the cost). Anything on that page of Disney has nothing to do with grocery delivery, bell services or luggage. So their extrapolation to those points were misguided. I’m sure there is a $6 charge and it’s per order as the grocery services (who first broke the news) are reporting and they are stating it’s only if bell services accepts and delivers the order. They have stated if you pick up your order from Bell Services that there is no charge though I’m sure Disney will not be consistent in the fee. As for luggage I doubt that bell services is charging for delivery of luggage not off the Magical Express.

Disney rates for most of the summer are not value season. Not as pricey as Christmas week or Easter, but not value.

6.00 or no 6.00. We don’t order groceries. So not an issue for me. But I believe Wdw or DLR is a massive value for a family vacation. We could spend just as much going to many places. It’s all relative. I just find it amazingly funny. That people complain about 6.00 fee for people doing something that the person complaining could do themselves. Classic! First world problem.

:offtopic: for the thread but I had a chance to look though over the Bellagio's rates. You may be surprised though. In comparison to Disney's prices they aren't all that expensive.

You might take a look at their calendar, which they have up until Feb 2020; I looked at their website directly. You might be surprised. Yes you do have taxes and fees and resort fees added but the room rates on average don't come all that close to Disney's prices in the Deluxe category.

Maybe so BUT it does have about 1000 more rooms then the largest in WDW, the resorts in Vegas dwarf what Disney has and man the taxes and resort fees and parking fees add up quick for such huge resorts, so all I was saying is $6 is really cheap for what it is........

Don't go changing your story now though :)

I don't think your comment towards not believing that you could get a room in the Bellagio for that price quoted had anything do to with the $6 fee.

But to your point about the amount of the fee no like I said I don't think it's so out of line. As always though for some it's based on principle. I myself try as hard as possible to avoid hotels that have resort fees, parking fees or both. Not always possible but I do try to avoid them when I can. Not the amount that's the issue just the principle.

How is it speculation? I stated facts.
Tipped employees are paid $5.44 an hour.
People ( especially people who live outside the US ) will tip less or nothing because they will assume the $6 fee is a tip or will just tip less because of the fee.

We do travel to vegas every other year and yes, the resort fees are obnoxious. The real difference is I can get a suite at the palazzo with the prestige package which includes Open bar for three hours every night, breakfast,& snacks throughout the day (similar to a concierge room at Disney) for $400 a night including resort fees.
Similar accommodations at Disney for the pushing $1000 a night.
