I will also agree that your second best bet is Thanksgiving week if you're talking 2019/2020. It's hard to define what "New Years Week" is though. If you told me you were going in on the 1st and staying through the 8th that would be much different than coming in on the 27th and staying through the 3rd :)

If only it was January 1-8! It's the calendar week that includes the 1st. So this coming school year will be 12/28-1/5.

I would take November Capri/ pants weather over June "OMG who built a sauna at DW?" weather. ANY DAY!

Italy in June sounds great!

Pack rain gear for cruising in June to Alaska.

I'm getting the rain gear covered for our Iceland/Scotland trip. :) Got the rain pants already (stuffs and zips into it's own pocket!). Got the Patagonia jackets with hoods for the kids. Still need one for DH. Still need water resistant hiking boots. But shoes are so hard. Online selection is best, but really need to try it on. Got DS Columbia hiking boots at a great price. Even got it in wide, which typically works better for him. But then he complains it's uncomfortable. Sigh. At least return was easy to a brick and mortar.

Buying all this stuff helped me remeet MSR on the Bonvoy Biz. Early insurance payment got returned (charge that originally met MSR), so didn't want to risk claw back.

Hi all... I don't know if you'll remember, but I posted here briefly back in October. I had every intention of participating but shortly after... my little Havanese puppy got sick and I was caring for her round the clock for 6 months before we lost her in February. She was my little shadow for 13 years and I miss her a great deal.

Spring is always a lovely time for new beginnings and with the nicer weather I'm beginning to think again about next year's travels. (This year's are already planned - Sept. in Hawaii and December at WDW:)) . @Albort You have my attention with the MLife>>Hyatt status thing. I'm a HUGE fan of the Grand Hyatt on Kauai, so you've peaked my curiosity, however, I am not a member of your Dis Churner's group (or reddit at all for that matter.. that place scares me! lol) Still... I've read back enough to know that I should ask for an invite and maybe finally learn the ins and outs of reddit. It seems I need to ask your great benevolent Dictator @SouthFayetteFan ? :worship: . I also read about @Haley R ! :rockband: Wow... so much cool stuff coming up for you!!! (Does that sound totally stalkerish cuz when I read it back, it does. Oh well. lol Do what you will with me, Budget Board rockstars.)

I have always been an Amex girl. Amex bought my Beach Club Villas contract (Charles Schwab, how I love thee), sent my husband and I and all four of our kids to Hawaii and to WDW two times each, introduced me to the fabulous Waldorf Astoria Orlando , pays for a monthly dinner "in" with my husband, and pays for lots of lovely little things whenever I stay at a Hilton (which is pretty often). I've focused solely on MRs since 2016 BUT... I suddenly find myself in possession of the much coveted CIP about 14 months sooner than I imagined ever possible. (thank you thank you DOC, you are my hero!) . So now... I need you people to teach me how to do Chase. And maybe, just maybe...

how to do life, without my puppy again.
Thank you! And no it doesn’t sound stalkerish lol

Robert from Mileonomics just returned from Italy so I'm taking a close look at his itinerary and the tours he booked using Chase UR. I know I definitely want to do the Colosseum Underground Tour and the day trip to Pompeii and Amalfi Coast. I also want to do the Roman food tour where you make pasta and pizza with a local. Our Airbnbs in Rome and Venice are booked as well.

Oooooooh I'll need to look for that information---thanks for sharing :-) We're going to Rome in November, and I looked at UR portal yesterday to see what was available and at what "price" :surfweb:

Omg—he looks like my ex’s hav. He’s nuts. Barks at the tv and likes to eat dinner on the couch.

Thank you.. I so appreciate that @havaneselover . Sharing a picture of her for you. She was my lap-churner... and she knew every one of my secrets. :)

@amalone1013 Thank you so much. I posted two pictures of her. One when she was a bit younger, with my oldest son. And the other... right before she left us.

So sorry for your loss. She was a cutey.

Nothing wrong with that. Dude eat's breakfast on the bed often and dinner in the living room most of the time unless he's eating while I'm making dinner then he's in the kitchen. When he was a puppy he didn't like to eat alone and is still that way sometimes with breakfast so he generally just eats wherever I'm at to make things easier. I stopped giving him a cookie when I left the house years ago because if he didn't eat it before I left it would still be there when I got home whether it was an hour or 10 later. He's got his quirks :)

I'm loving all the puppy pics.

I'm back from a week long trip and so many pages behind I hope it's ok if I just jump back in here today since I don't think I'll be able to catch up. I hope I didn't miss anything really good, and I hope all is well with everyone.

Short trip notes:

Jet Blue Mint seats are awesome - we had a fantastic flight to NYC, the FAs were so nice, and the time passed quickly.

Park Hyatt NYC was wonderful, from the room to the fabulous swimming pool where we spent a few afternoons. The bottles of water available at the exit and the gym were a nice touch. I'd totally stay there again. (30K Hyatt points per night). Their restaurant was expensive, but nice. I didn't get any sort of upgrade on my room.

Marriott Philadelphia Downtown was not great. Another one booked on points, this time Chase points. I was worried they wouldn't find our reservation, but they did. They did tell us that even though we booked a certain type of room they can't see that on their end and it was just a request (not cool, but what can I do?) The carpets looked old and worn, the hotel looked old and worn, and the pool area was downright creepy. Not my favorite. In fact, of the 4 hotels we have stayed in in Philly, this one ranks 4th. The location was great, though. The concierge lounge was just so so, and the food was nothing to brag about.

Philadelphia Marriott West (in the suburbs) was cheaper and much better. This was a cash reservation, so we got what we booked this time. We are using the $300 LUX credit to help cover a good part of this stay. It's newer, nicer, and also had a pretty decent pool area.

American Airlines - ok, I admit it. They are just the worst ever. 3 strikes in one year, and they are going to give me a couple thousand points because I complained on Twitter - we all know what that's worth. Nothing. We had booked very early, on an empty plane, and bought premium coach seats in row 7 (with our GCs). But they moved us to rows 39, 41, and 42 (yes, 3 people in 3 rows) and gave our seats to other people they liked better. They said they will refund the premium part of the charge (um, yeah, don't they have to?) but that the seat is not a guarantee. Apparently it's a lottery ticket and you just have to hope you're lucky enough to get what you pay for. I'm mad because we went out of our way to book this flight because it had the better seats. And I'm no good on twitter - I guess I get too mad and annoy them.

If you have any "how to get something back when the airline screws you over" advice please send it my way. :)

I was actually just wondering what happened to you! You didn’t post much but you got me interested in going for Hilton cards. I never figured out a strategy there and then chasing AA miles captured my attention instead.
Welcome back and very sorry about your loss :(

Citi letter in the mail today. That offer (my request for a match) wasn't on your account. Send a copy of the front and back of the offer and we'll review. Due to recent DPs, that went in the circular filing cabinet and I'll stick with the original 40K SUB I signed up for. My statement closes tomorrow so we'll see if it posts then since I met MSR already.

That really sucks and I didn't know they could do that. I knew they can move you but didn't realize if you paid for a class of seats they could move you to a lower class.
