A bit bored at the Studios

For some people but not all.

Actually its more than one. It’s Mickeys of Hollywood and Keystone aclotheirs

It's mostly a half day for us. Kids have mostly outgrown meet and greets. We've seen the shows a few times except BatB. Animation Courtyard offers nothing for my boys except Launch Bay. But still we go and enjoy what we like and hop to another park or head to the pool. We'll hop back for a few hours one evening because all of the parks are great at night. This argument is a hard one to understand. Just because I view it as a half day park shouldn't make someone else so defensive and vice versa. There is no set way to tour any of the parks.

WE GET IT! YOU DON'T LIKE HS AND DON'T WANT TO SPEND MORE THAN A HALF DAY IN HS! NOT EVERYONE IS GOING TO AGREE WITH YOU!

I appreciate and respect your comments . I will drink deeply of them. The array of constructive opinions help make The Dis Boards the useful tool that it is and I, for one, value the diversity .

I agree, it's a half day park for me too. I don't like most of the shows and some rides are so hard to get fast passes for. With the new tiers, it's going to be even less rides we can ride.
I do love Sci-fi and try to eat there every visit. My husband loves HS through, it's his favorite park.

I will agree completely that the dwindling of the streetmosphere is sad and penny-wise/pound-foolish.

When we went to HS last fall, my sons (9 and 10) and I ran into a couple of the Citizens of Hollywood. While chatting with one, he and I realized we knew each other from doing community theatre together back in CT years ago - such a small world! So that led to my boys and me seeking out the Citizens for their next show, and my kids LOVED it. They wanted to see the next one, too, so we did. It was unfortunately our last day, and we had to do a bit of hunting and asking to find out the locations/times of the shows, so that was all we got to see.

I really wish Disney would up their offering of this kind of entertainment (and do a better job publicizing it). Since it's improv, the Citizens of Hollywood will never be the same show twice, and it's fun for adults and older kids.

I don't understand why they didn't do an RC Coaster ride like at DLP instead of Alien Saucers. The saucers are a terrible carnival ride. DHS is is supposed to be a little more grown-up than MK and RC would have fit right in. Or at least the Parachutes from DLP. Just a waste of space.

We are just back and loved our day at HS.

We arrived at opening and rode RnR twice- once with a fastpass - which was my 6 year old’s favorite ride in all the parks. By 9:30 the wait for ToT was already 70 minutes. When we rode later with our fastpass, we realized they only had one side open. That’s a shame, given the crowds. But our fastpass wait was short and the ride was as awesome as ever.

We enjoyed meeting the Star Wars characters with short waits, and we liked the Ariel show. Hadn’t don’t that one in a while.

Lunch at H&V was great with the characters. The food was very good, too. We left for about three hours to rest and swim, then returned.

I was so impressed with Toy Story Land- and I wasn’t very excited about it when it was announced. Such beautiful colors and fun theming. We rode SDD with a fastpass, then were able to ride it again because we got a 4th fastpass. Such a fun, smooth coaster. Then we waited for twenty minutes for the saucers, ate at the Lunchbox, then got a fastpass for TSMM.

Front row center Fantasmic seating (our lunch was a Fantasmic package) topped off a fabulous day.

Not a half day for us. I could easily spend two there, since in our roughly ten hours there we didn’t do a large part of what is available- and we didn’t wait much in line, either.

I wasn’t particularly looking forward to HS, but it turned out to be one of our best days of the trip. I’m a fan.

SDD kind of is the coaster equivalent. My overall feeling is that Toy Story Land was something they were able to put together rather quickly to add some more life to HS while SW:GE was being built, as that's the true shot in the arm it needs.

The RC Coaster at DLP is Toy Story themed and in their Toy Story Land. It's a dinky thing that just goes back and forth on a curved track.

Gotcha, not at all familiar with DLP, mis-read the abbreviations. From your description, doesn't sound like there's much more to it than Aliens. I like Aliens and think it fits in perfectly. Since they already have a coaster in TSL, don't see why they should add a second smaller one. There are always going to be complaints, but seems it's a pretty popular place just the way it is.

RC Coaster is like the old pirate ship ride that swings back and forth. Pretty kid friendly. Just because it’s TS themed doesn’t mean it can’t have a more exciting ride. TSMM & SDD are all-age friendly.

I've never warmed to Studios. I remember way back when it was MGM Studios and I went for the first time. My overall impression was that it was kind of an "ugly" park. The other three are so beautiful and immersive, and Studios is just...meh. I realize it has some of the most popular attractions with ToT, RnRC, and now SDD, but unlike the other three where I can fill in the space between headliners with lots to look at and just enjoying the atmosphere, Studios doesn't inspire that same desire to hang out and just be there.

SWGE may change that. I love Star Wars, so I imagine I'll enjoy just hanging out in that part of the park for a little while at least.

Right now Studios is my "nighttime show" park. In 2016 we went there just to watch Symphony in the Stars (still the best fireworks show I've ever seen). December 2017 we went there just for the Jingle Bell Jingle Bam Dessert Party (which was fabulous!). And in a couple of weeks, we'll go to Studios just for the SWGS Dessert Party.

It definitely all depends on the individual though. Rides aren't my main priority at WDW (weird, I know). I like to walk around, shop, watch the various entertainment, eat, and hit a few rides along the way. Studios isn't that kind of park, and that's okay! While others are seeing how many times they can ride Slinky Dog, Tower of Terror, and Rock N Roller Coaster, I'll be strolling the World Showcase.
