For those who have paid car loans via Plastiq, what did you enter for "services provided" when setting up your payment? I'm setting up the payment to payoff my car and I'm not sure what to put here so there are no red flags.

When I set ours up, it coded as mortgage even though I hadn't not chosen that category and wouldn't let me pay it. I emailed them and it was fixed within an hour or so. Good luck!

I totally get why you said it this way, :) but I just had to chuckle at that 🤣 . CIP and the overflowing CIPpy cup is literally the best thing that’s happened to churning in awhile. You get yourself back to under 5/24 and will show you a path to potentially earn 400,000 URs in a year from just 1 player. ( of course this loophole could close at any time) :D

Okay I have to research the CIPpy deal because this is the first I've heard of it. I have a pressing issue here that I'm hoping you guys will weigh in on.

We plan to fly EWR to NRT in mid Aug (after the Olympics are over). We want to fly business, 4 people, ewr to nrt around Aug 10 - 31, give or take a few days inbound and outbound. I have enough United miles banked to get us there, provided I can get the 70k-80k saver fares (I know, big if). Now, for the return I have 120k URs saved, but need to accumulate a total of 280k for the return ticket, so I'm 160k short. I did some math and I don't think I'm going to make it by Oct which is when I maximize my chances of grabbing saver tickets. I really don't want to buy the one way tickets, then wait to buy the return tickets once I accumulate the URs. Risky. I could look to accumulating MRs and get the AMEX Platinum for dh which I'm sure he'd be approved for, 75k sign up bonus. I could even apply for 35k bonus Gold for myself to get the 4x grocery and restaurant MRs. However, I'd need to select an airline that will allow me to transfer both URs and MRs, since I need to use those saved URs that I have to make up the total needed. Can't do it without them, not enough time.

I hope this makes sense. Basically, I need four biz class tickets NRT to EWR on an airline where I can transfer URs and MRs. I hear Virgin is an option but it's a struggle to come up with anything on their search. For all their faults, United has such an easy Website to use.

A bit of a technical point here, on your Freedom card you didn't lose your UR account, you only lost certain functions of that account granted by having a premium card like the CSP. The Freedom still has a UR account and earns UR points, you just can't transfer them to partners or get increased value by using them on travel from that card. You can move those UR points between UR cards in the household with that Freedom card, it just wouldn't make sense for DH to send them to you. You could send all your Freedom points to DH and he could move them into his FF account to book travel, though.

So is that Freedom card listed in 12/17 the PC'd CSP? Is that when you opened the CSP or when you PC'd the Freedom? If that's when you PC'd to the Freedom card then your card open date should still be listed as 7/16 and wouldn't count against your 5/24. You're still locked out of a Sapphire bonus until 2020 sometime, but could open you up to other cards before that. If I count right, then even with the AU still on your report you'd be 4/24 right now. For all the cards I see on your list a PC doesn't affect the open date of the account. Double check what your CR says for all these open dates. You might not be in as bad of shape as you think.

July 2016 is when I opened the CSP, product changed I believe 4/18 if I remember correctly. I really need to pull my credit reports. I view my score through My Credit Journey through Chase but never the detailed report. I guess I'll take a look at Credit Karma.

There are so many details and moving parts to this hobby that I easily forget vital information that I need to weigh before making my next move!

After checking all 9 AMEX cards, I'm not feeling the love...

@miztressuz - thanks for the heads up on the Vineyard Vines discount. I guess they know we shop there a lot since they didn't bother to put it on any of my cards, or DH's. Luckily we found it on DD's plat. Never would have even looked there if you hadn't posted today, so thank you!

@Lain - I finally was able to track down one Caviar deal for MRs on DH's Biz Plat. It wasn't there the day you mentioned it, and isn't on any other cards, but at least I have one offer. Now I just have to figure out if I want to use it. :P

I read this morning on OOMAT (Is that awful?) that you can status match from certain hotel chains (Hyatt is one) to IHG. Thought I would share in case anyone is interested.

Speaking of...

Anyone know if it's worth status matching to Choice Hotels? I'm looking at their site now since I have a hotel affiliate booked in September.

There is nothing to “research.” You won’t find any blogs or sites talking about it, and it’s best left that way. As soon as it’s publicized, it’s as good as dead. You want to drink from the cup? You keep the discussion here.

I meant go back through the thread and read up on the conversation I missed. I don't post about points anywhere but here.

Oh, and yes I do want to drink from the cup. :)

Just called Chase Travel about transferring my RCCL cruise. She said they usually request some type of payment when the cruise is transferred so they have some money on it. I said if I am transferring it then that means I have had to put a deposit down. She was going to talk to her supervisor about making an exception for the later payment (which makes total sense since my PIF date is so far out.) She said she would call me back tomorrow. I guess worst case scenario, I use a substantial portion of my stash for a free cruise.
How does that work? You book a cruise direct with RCCL and then transfer to chase so you can pay with URs? Hope you don’t mind me asking - Just wondering for future for us.

Yep! You find the cruise you want and book the options you want direct with the cruise line. Then you call Chase (special number, someone posted a few pages back) and tell them you want to transfer your booking. They’ll give you a form to fill out and send to the cruise line. A few days later you’ll receive confirmation that it was transferred. Each cruise line is different and there are time frames the booking can be moved during (within 30, 60, 90 days of original booking depending on the cruise line). If you have a CSR you can use points at 1.5 cents each to get a substantial discount. If you don’t have enough points you can pay the rest in cash. If you transfer make sure to transfer to the account of the person holding your best card (ideally a CSR).

Edited to add: it doesn’t work for Disney cruises since Chase no longer allows booking of anything Disney through their travel portal. I’ve done for NCL, several others have done for RCCL.

most will match. but then it comes down to how long do they match for. The majority will match for a couple months.
I know u can match a lot of status to Hilton Diamond but it requires 8 nights(i think) to get it the rest of the year.

Anyone book a rental car with useaamiles dot com? I have a unique situation where I want to rent at Swolphin and return to FLL. Doesn't look like the site allows that type of search and Id rather not call these bozos.

You can find the open dates from Credit Journey but it's not as fast. If you do sign up for Credit Karma there is a page that lays out the history all at once. Here's the post for how @amalone1013 found it, and includes @hulagirl 's post with a way to get to the direct page link.

Thanks, that is definitely something for us to look into. I have been wanting to go on another cruise, last one was in 2012. Going to wait until we save up some URs first. We just started on this journey last month.

Here’s what I wrote up just a bit ago.
Chase has a travel agency so you can transfer cruises (except Disney) to them like any other travel agency. And then you can use your URs to pay for it. So I like I had booked Harmony of the Seas through RCCL and put the deposit on my Arrival + so I could erase it and now I am moving that cruise to Chase so I can use my URs to pay the balance. Since my PIF isn’t until early Dec 2019, I am asking to make a payment at that time rather than now since you only have one shot at using your URs towards the cruise. So if I had a balance that required 200k URs and I only had 150k, I could put them towards it and pay the remainder on my CSR. Typically, it seems like they want that payment at time of transfer. While most TAs don’t require payment until right before PIF.

My Chase TA was able to transfer from RCCL by completing an online request. There was no form for me to sign and after the request was submitted, it was moved within minutes. I was trying to see my remaining balance via payment and it wouldn’t let me since it was already gone.

I’m weird lol. When we travel, I can’t sleep on the first night in a new place/new bed.

I forgot to comment on this yesterday, but I'm the same. :sad1: I will add that one of the bonus things about our 10nt DCL cruise last summer was that our location changed, but the room and the bed were the same and I was actually able to sleep.

We only have the Hyatt Explorist (as you probably know ;) ). No Hilton Diamond since DH hasn't applied for the Aspire yet (we were thinking about going for a lower card then upgrading, but I'm not sure he will be patient enough to go that route). It looks like they will match for this current year now, but if we wait until July they will match through next year, so I guess we will wait. :)
