Plant Based food options coming in 2020

I wonder if it’s based on that new incrediburger (?) they’re using at a lot of restaurants now.
ETA Impossible (looked it up). I don’t eat it; made from soy.

Still mostly gluten-y, however. It’s very hard to be plant- based and GF. I love the healthy options, but wish there were more without wheat, and on the many yummy sounding Asian dishes, if they’d use tamari (gf soy sauce, tastes identical) it would be so appreciated.

Plant-based eggs? :crazy2:

I love eating plant-based meals, but I do not eat soy products, which it sounds like a lot of this will be.
Can you enlighten me about why a person would avoid soy products. I have not heard of what would cause that to be, so I'm just trying to learn. TIA!

It is high in estrogen, and the type of cancer that the women in my family get we are told no soy products at all. I would love to see more vegetarian options in the park especially since I eat very little meat.

As a vegetarian, this is very exciting news! A lot of the dining options (both CS and TS) currently do not have any vegetarian or vegan options, or have options that are not very appealing or creative, so this is great to hear. In fact, I've noticed some places have removed vegetarian dishes (e.g. from Docking Bay 7, the Kefta "meat"loaf, which I didn't even get to try before they pulled it from the menu). I have my favorite locations right now but am looking forward to seeing these new options! The labeling of vegetarian dishes is long overdue too.

Just about every TS location we've tried at DLR has been able to customize dishes to be vegetarian upon request. And the kitchen can make vegan dishes custom upon request, especially when given prior notice on the reservation. At TS locations (and at most CS locations, too), you can request that a chef come speak with you about your dietary needs and go over what can be made/customized for you. This is easier if you visit during non-rush/non-peak hours when the kitchen isn't already swamped with orders. And customized orders can take longer to make, so allow extra time for that, too.

I am a breast cancer survivor. My cancer was ER positive, meaning that the hormone estrogen was causing the cancer cells to grow. I take a drug to stop the estrogens. I do not eat soy because it contains estrogens. I fear that in the future we may learn more dangers of soy.

According to my friend who lectures me whenever I order soy milk in my Starbucks drinks, it has too much estrogen and it’s GMO.
I 2nd this. My oncologist said avoid eating a lot of stuff that's heavy in soy in order to help prevent breast cancer recurrence.

** edited to add **
But I'm glad that DL is adding in these options for vegans & vegetarians. It's cool that they'll have some more options in the parks.

Thank each of you, so much. I did not know that about soy / soy products. I don't (knowingly) each soy products but this has given me a reason to think about it. Again, many thanks.

Out of curiosity, do you have examples of what they've made? I've avoided some TS restaurants because of the lack of options, or the lack of appealing options. E.g. I know Carthay Circle can do a stack of vegetables, but that's never sounded appealing to me (since I could easily cook vegetables and bring that from home for far less $$$). I've done BB and RBT as the other TS restaurants, which have decent veg options.

I’d love to see more vegetarian friendly junk food available at QS places. Like I looooveeee the hand dipped cheese stick at the corn dog stand in DCA. Give me more of that! Or how about some veggie hand dipped corn dogs?! Or some deep fried meatless ‘chicken’?Just because I’m a vegetarian doesn’t mean I want a stack of vegetables. (Which is usually what most TS place offers me...) I’m on vacation here! 😂 I love meatless ‘fake meat’ options- let’s bring on more veggie burgers, etc. Only two places to get a veggie burger in Disneyland is not enough IMO.

I think the best TS accommodation I’ve gotten is usually at Blue Bayou. They make me just a plain pasta with cheese. So nothing crazy unique. But I also pass on all the veggies they offer to add.

I've never ordered these dishes for myself, but friends in our parties have usually requested and received various pasta dishes or something similar that met their requirements. All reviews have been positive. These meals were at CCR and at NR. And posters here have reported that they have received very tasty dishes at DLR TS locations, sometimes things that were better than the on menu items that other family members received. You can try calling the number on the online reservations page to discuss this with someone to see what your options might be.
