February 2020

I don't see if anyone else has mentioned this (perhaps I could have missed it), but also think about hacking the discounts by doing a split stay.

We were booked in a boardwalk studio villa for 2/18-2/25. I was able to get the discount for the same room for 2/18-2/21 and then add a stay at a studio villa at animal kingdom lodge (Jambo house) for 2/21-2/25. We saved almost $1700 you guys. The website is kind of being a jerk today, but don't give up, and be creative!!

Ok Guys..here my experience with the discounts today.

I had a reservation for:
- Two adults and two chidren (3 and 9);
- from Jan 24th to Feb 3rd;
- at All Star Sports and standart room and;
- 6 days park tickets.

The total amount was USD 3.191,74 (standart rates). Adding Dinning plan (1 QS and 1 table), it cost more USD 2.170,06, and the total amount would be USD 5.361,80.

When I tried to change to Kids Sized Package: there no avaliable rooms for Standart. So, I had to do a upgrade to prefered room.

Now the total amount for:
- Two adults and two chidren (3 and 9);
- from Jan 24th to Feb 3rd;
- at All Star Sports and prefered room and;
- 6 days park and Dinning plan (1 QS and 1 table)

is USD 4.943,58. Compare with the old reservation (USD 5.361,80), I got a saving of USD 418,22.

So, I think Disney does not become avaliable promotions for Standart rooms. It´s a way to decrease the discount.

If someone has a better idea how to improve discounts, or if someone got a discount for a standart room, please tell me! :)

I have a reservation already and want to stay at the same resort. Is calling the only way to get discount?

I'm on the phone now and it looks like if the discount is showing as sold out for your resort/dates then they can't book it over the phone either.

you can log in to your account and change your reservation. When you select the room again it will give you the option of the "Gift of Magic" offer, if available.

I was a little disappointed in the discounts, but managed to find something OK.

We had a rack rate room at the Poly (GV) for Feb 2-7, and I was able to find a BWI GV room for $160 less with the GP discount. I can justify paying an extra $50 or so for the Poly but not $160. So BWI GV it is.

Discounts for my week were almost non-existent at any of the Monorail or Epcot resorts, just a few high-tier CL rooms that were too rich for my blood, and BWI GV. I did catch a fleering glimpse of a BWI water view and tried to jump on it, but by the time I got to check out it was gone :(. There were a couple discounted BWV options available too, but the beds there don’t work for my family.

Also of note, I wasn’t able to modify online because the change function wouldn’t let me change both resort and offer at the same time. That’s why I lost the BWI WV room. I had to book a whole new reservation. Hope this was a temporary glitch because it was quite frustrating and inconvenient. Will still keep looking for a discounted BWI WV room though — Hopefully one will pop up sometime!

Just got off the phone after 1 hour and 12 minutes (wait time was initially 2 hours, so that's a plus, I guess???)

We have two rooms booked at Caribbean Beach for 2/16-2/22 (President's Week... so already crowded). Rooms are standard view - 5th sleeper which we need since we have more than 2 people in each room. I have an AP so I was looking for either discount. Online I saw that we could switch to a King bed and save $450 per room but that didn't work for us. We could also switch to a pirate room but those are further from the Skyliner and have double beds instead of queen.

I called on the off chance that they would be able to apply one of the discounts to our current reservations. No luck. Of course it didn't help that our connection was very spotty and the CM seemed to have a language barrier issue. He just said that the discount was unavailable. I tried to press to see if there were any other room types but he thought I was asking about switching resorts so I just gave up. I may try again between now and February. My mother booked these two rooms at the price she was comfortable with, so any discount would just be a bonus. But a welcome bonus! :)

I logged onto my Dis Exp and changed the existing reservation from there - took 3 mins - sad part is I am still paying 200+ for POP, saving me only $65 bucks from my original reservation.

Has anyone had luck getting a discount on a standard room at a value or moderate resort using the Magical Stay promotion?

I’m so excited! I was able to switch online from a standard room at Movies to a standard at POP for only $48 extra (for the entire week) with the AP discount. I didn’t see POP discounted for the regular room non-AP discount which could have been a glitch or maybe they are just being stingy with the discounts. I’m looking forward to the skyliner and Movies only had preferred rooms left (even rack rates for standard were sold out for my stay) so the upgrade to POP was a no brainer for me.

The website seems really glitchy so I’m sure calling might be better, but I didn’t have time to sit on the phone all morning. I’m just so happy to get a good rate before they sold out, I’m sure I’ll still keep browsing now that the pressure is off.

Good luck to all looking for discounts! I’m so surprised the AP discount dripped today since I thought it usually isn’t available until November.

Thanks to the diligence of a creative CM, I got my discount for BC! It turned out the last night was causing the offer not to be available so we're re-booked at BC for 4 nights on the offer and 1 at rack rate, still saved about $800 so pretty happy with that.

Whoo! Just saved another 10% at BWI GV, when a room popped up as available under AP discounts. Saving almost $200 a night over my original Poly reservation now. Makes the change even more worthwhile. Happy camper here! :banana:

Now if a water view room would just pop up!

Had an interesting time this morning. Was on the computer just after 7 am looking to modify my five-night, room-only, one-bedroom villa reservation, starting late-Feb into March, at the Beach Club to take in the discount. Website wouldn't let me do it. No problem - I'll call. While I'm on hold, the instant messaging comes up, so I ask the agent online if she can apply the discount on her end. She tells me room-only reservations only can be modified over the phone. OK, I guess - whatever, I'm on hold anyway and my wife and kid are already looking at me like a crazy person at the breakfast table with my earpiece in repeatedly listening to Star Wars ads.

So the 45-minute wait becomes an hour and 20 minutes. No big deal - I'm driving to work at this point anyway. Finally get a hold of someone, and turns out the discount can only be applied to two of the 5 nights. Bummer. So...let me see what a smaller room in the main hotel would be. Weirdly, not much less. OK, so I'll take the two discounted nights for now and see what transpires later. I'm now nearly two hours in from my first attempt to modify at 7am. But now I'm all set, so all is well. Just about to give the CC number for the new deposit...and the call drops...

Ten minutes later, after finishing up my screaming and swearing, I call again and head to the back of the line. As I'm on hold again, I get to work. Come in and get on the site, and surprisingly find that I now can apply to the discount to the entire five-night stay. Boom - done. Meanwhile, I get through to an agent, who turns that into a package. Yay and phew.

Just an FYI for those that are modifying existing reservations, you may want to double check the rate! I accidentally booked the wrong weekend for our trip in February. I was excited that it would let me modify the reservation to change the dates and I got this page explaining that there was no additional cost for the change.

I just happened to go back after I did that and searched again, curious if there was a different room type that was cheaper. I noticed that the exact same room type was listed for with a lower per night cost! So I cancelled my reservation and created a new one to save $250!

I don't even see the AP offer on the discount offer page any more. Looks like they disabled the link from the offer page.

For a while I could still get the rates to pop up if I went into the specific hotel quote and changed the offer from there and then changed to view all resorts, but now it just shows rack rates when selecting the AP discount that way.

Of course, the rates were often the same as the magical offer.

Ok so I had a 1 bedroom booked at Kidani 2/18-2/24. I had actually wanted Jambo when I booked but it wasn't available. My total for 2 adults, 2 kids package was $8k. Yikes. I held on to it and told my husband when discounts came out we'd probably be moving.

This morning I was a bit nervous because I didn't really want to move to an Epcot area resort and figured that'd be all that's available if anything. Well the best deal on a 1 bedroom this morning turned out to be at Jambo! My package price now $1,400 cheaper! Wahooooooo
