I love credit cards so much! v2.0 (see first page for add'l details)

My AF just hit but I am keeping it and never thought of a potential retention offer. I don't put much spend on it so I think they would probably be like "ok thanks bye" if I called to cancel. Is it worth trying to fake them? I definitely do not want to close it.

DH was going to keep his either way, but the 2nd time he called he got 50K points. I really don't need mine. I already have another platinum (AU) card and the AF is so high, but I also don't want to anger Amex and not be able to get more cards, so I guess I need to call and hope for the best.

And, I was trying to figure that out. Not easy to navigate all this credit card stuff. When I've looked previously you did have to have consistency in time that the card was used for the bill. I think
It does cover multiple phones, but since this particular card has a max of just 1 thousand with only 2 claims per year allowed up to $600 per claim, if I had to deal with an account with multiple phones I'd look carefully for the highest coverage.

Right at this moment, I'm trying to capture 2 other offers, so won't be changing to this prior to January. And about then I'll be looking at a new phone.
I have never in my life used or needed any cell phone insurance, so not even sure why I care LOL

Except when the status line doesn't work for you. :sad2:
you know..... sometimes I wonder. like I mentioned in the past, every time my ds,who has a great cs, goes to app,we have issues finding and viewing his score and info on CK.(I know it's a different site but still) it's like he's invisible, and I have to do roundabout digging to find proof of things, like last time he apped,I had to go to each credit site separately and start a dispute to see the listings to be sure they were accurate. Anything else just pulled up "we can't find your info right now" messages. This is twice now (last year and this year)

Got approved for my CIP! Limit is relatively low, but I'll take it. And hopefully the [support] from DW's card tracked. Any recent DPs of how long [support] points take to show up as pending?

Also, any recent issues with using CIP on Plastiq? Easiest way for me to meet the $5K spend is to pay our rent via Plastiq.

You mean "support" points?

Chase support points take at least 7 days to show up as pending and usually post on Tuesday afternoon/evening. If approval wasn't at least 7 days before a Tuesday, then you'll need to wait until the next Tuesday to see them pending. Sometimes, Chase support points may show up as pending on Wednesday or Thursday. Support points must be "pending" at the time the supporting card's statement closes in order to post with that statement. If they're not pending by the time the statement closes, you'll need to wait another month for the points to go pending on the next statement and for it to close for the points to post.

No issues using CIP on Plastiq, but it's not coding 3x anymore, so you'll eat the 2.5% fee unless you've been targeted for a promotional fee or FFD deal.

At airport now on first trip since oldest turned 13. The hassle to get her an identification and then precheck was just pronounced “worth it.” Of course D13 is the Luna Lovegood of my children and promptly left her carry on where we were standing after stopping to get coffee. I saw it there but wrongly assumed she was getting it when we started walking again. She remembered, short jog back, and it was still there. Crisis averted!

Did someone mention sea turtles?

We spent about an hour yesterday at Paradise Cove beach, which is just a short walk from Aulani, and we counted at least four different sea turtles. We did our best to keep our distance (at least 10 feet) but they kept swimming up to and around us, and I couldn't help but snap a few pics.

Paradise Cove beach is a favorite spot for sea turtles. The beach is sheltered by some rocks that keep the waves from coming in, so the water is calm. There are lots of fish and tide pools as well. Bring some goggles or snorkeling gear. We've been when there are just one, and other times none. The last time we visited, there were no sea turtles but there was a monk seal swimming around. This visit was the most turtles we've seen.
my spirit animals!!!!:flower1::rotfl2: this was our experience in Maui last year- they just kept swimming up to and around us...we kept trying to avoid bumping into them....I love them so much

I have never in my life used or needed any cell phone insurance, so not even sure why I care LOL

I've dropped my Samsung 8 too many times and I've cracked 2 corners even though it's in an otterbox case. I want a new phone now because I can see the relatively small damage. The card I was using for the most time had no cell phone protection. I'm not concerned about this phone anymore, but when I get it's replacement, it's going on an account with protections. I do have protection on several cards but haven't read thoroughly enough yet nor have I done a side by side comparison. And I don't have a CIP which seems to be a favorite.

I've also lost a phone, and had a phone stolen, but my mishaps are since 1990, lol. Just now phones are pretty pricey - at least the ones I want are.

I know there is a delay after hitting 10 posts (1 hour is what I have read but it took longer than that when I joined) before you can PM and I am guessing it is just delayed. Hope it shows up soon for you!
Thanks so much for the support! I admit I’m not great figuring out online forums and I don’t participate in social media (with the exception of starting a twitter account just to compliment a WDW cast member but I never used it again). So I feel out of the loop navigating these types of websites!

I'm not sure why your PMs haven't opened up yet - but if you just share your reddit username (you need to register at reddit.com) I can certainly add you!

Maybe after 24 hours (this afternoon) PMs will work? lol!

My reddit username is happysavermp. This may sound silly but I just set up an account yesterday and am unsure on how reddit works. Do I just sign in and search dischurners? Much Appreciated!

I'm assuming CIP? Very basic rundown:

- Pay bill in full with your CIP
- Coverage begins the day after you make your payment, and I believe ends at the end of each month. (See if you can get your carrier to switch your statement close date to the last day of the month so you can pay then or on the 1st)
- Covers all phones/lines on the bill under the cardholder's name. (Doesn't cover separate bills that have someone else's name on it even if you pay with your CIP)
- Covers damage, theft, and accidental parting; does not cover "mysterious disappearances"
- Covers up to $600/claim, 3 claims/12 months; $100 deductible.
Thanks!
Actually we were discussing the IHG, that now has cell coverage.

I am not sure what good $600 would do if I broke my $1350 iPhone LOL.

I may have to change my cell phone bills to IHG card now that they've added cellphone protection. I can't remember exactly what protections I have on other cards, but for some reason this one stands out as I do not intend to cancel the card. It's really not bad for $49. One discrepancy - first part says no more price protection, 2nd part says purchase protection - wonder what the difference is?
I need to go back and reread my coverage for the IHG I have ($89 AF). I pay my bill with that one from time to time.

Short-short answer is, price protection protects the price you paid for an item ie see a lower price, purchase protection protects the item itself ie loss, theft, damage.

Thanks! I have to admit I'm clueless about this most of the time as I have no recollection of ever using it. For the most part I shop around for anything remotely pricey so not often do I see substantial price drops. And, I rarely return stuff even things I don't use. It just eventually gets tossed into a good will donation. Not big stuff, just the under $50 things.

I would think this line is true of most credit card coverage now that I see it spelled out. Glad you did this summary as now I see a flaw in my plans. The cell phones are under daughter's name but I pay the bill for the cells. She pays the cable bill. So, I can get around this by either getting her an authorized user card or convincing her to sign up for the card that has the best benefits, if she doesn't have it already. Then I just route the card bill to my bill pay, which is what I was doing with the original card on the cell account. And now I'm thinking my Chase Freedom offer might not work that I hooked up tot he cell bill which is under her name. Wouldn't worry except we have different last names, so a disconnect is easier to spot.

Congrats on the approval party:
-you do have to purchase it at the airport....once they let me when I was checking bags prior to security...the second time at the gate

- if all the A1-A15 slots are taken you will have to board with whatever number you have

-you will have to purchase the Priority boarding for your companion if you want them to board in a A1-A15 slot

You could try calling and see if it’s possible to expedite the card
Can I get reimbursed for my companion’s priority boarding or just mine? ( isn’t that how it works? You pay for the priority boarding with your SW card and then they reimburse you as a statement credit?)

Thanks so much for this info!

I guess I need the answer to this too. I just assumed that 4 priority boarding credits meant I could use one for myself and one for my companion. I was planning to use those for DD and me in November. If I’m the only one that can use it, that considerably lowers their value for me.

You are fine using it for your DD...I have used them on myself and DH

I'm in a comfort food mindset recently. So last week I made lasagna from scratch and yesterday I had the last bit for lunch.

On the weekend I made cabbage rolls which turned out really well and I just had the last of them for lunch today. In between older daughter and family came by and helped eat both dishes. Only reason there were leftovers was that she forgot to get them out of the fridge before she left.

I've also baked apple strudel. Is anyone else venturing into the kitchen as it gets cooler this fall? I used my Amex pink gold to pick up ingredients at Safeway, generating 4 MR's for each dollar spent and adding points to my gas rewards, which I've become obsessed with collecting. Funny story on this: Younger DD has started to empty my extra gas cans into her car now that she has realized there is gas sitting around. Neither of us likes to stop for gas.

We had gotten really bad at eating out and mostly having food delivered lately, so trying to turn this tide.

Keep reading! You can pay for whoever you want with the credits!
