I agree with you, it could have been worse. But this game changes a lot, and sometimes fast. It’s one of the reasons I decided to go for the CP this fall, instead of waiting until January. First, I could use it early in the year, which I need. I already booked flights with the CP. Second, I have made plans before and things changed, locking me out of a card or completely changing my plans.agree with you.....SW does not have to offer CP.....and there are other ways they could of changed it....not allowing the sign up bonus to count would of hurt more......for him to do a write up over having to earn 15k more RR points seems like a sense of entitlement.....
That said I understand people made plans based on earning 110k RR points and it’s disappointing....but it’s not a right
They are at least a statement behind. Mine said 25xx, if I log in it’s actually 29xxSo I have the Amex Hilton Biz (fairly new... just received it a couple weeks ago) and when I log into my Amex account it says "You have 1400 HHonors Points" (I think they came from answering some surveys or something because I haven't even had a statement close yet).
I just now got my HHonors "October Monthly Statement" and it says I have 0 HHonors points.
Anyone have experience with this? I don't care (yet) but I'm wondering whether you've all seen similar discrepancies.
Love your spin!! Thanks My aunt is one who is pursuing CP for 2020 (as you know) and she will probably just spend the extra 10k so SW definitely wins with people like her. That is a great point that these changes could ultimately lead to CP hanging in there longer. My thoughts on the SW Companion Pass Change... UNPOPULAR OPINION: This is a Good Thing!
I've been following "all things Southwest" for 5+ years now and I can tell you the SW CP was a largely unknown thing back in 2014 when I first started pursuing it regularly. At this point it seems EVERYBODY and their brother knows about it now. I've had the CP come up in casual conversation at business lunches with people who are decidedly not churners but read something about it.
I have feared the death of the CP for a couple years now! When they killed hotel transfers counting that looked like the initial nail in the coffin. With the exception of the 80k new card offer, Chase has also been a little more stingy with the "increased offers" as of late. We haven't seen a 60k/$2k in awhile, have we? I also find DoC's comment about taking issue with the timing to be disingenuous. They gave AMPLE notice. When Southwest announced the change to the hotel transfers they were met with tons of resistance because they did not give ample notice and they ended up backing off and allowing additional time before implementing the change. They have informed us 11 weeks before 2020 even begins that you now need to earn 125k to get a CP. Seems like good notice to me considering technically I can't earn points towards CP until Jan 1, and at that time I'd need to earn 125k then.
Why is this a good thing?...
(EDIT: Oh and the no expiration is pretty nice too! For those with huge point stashes who never pay for flights it will make things easier)
- Well, the common person will not be able to figure this out. They won't pursue business cards, they won't MS, they will just let it go. OR they will earn the CP by spending TENS of thousands of dollars on their card. SW and Chase will both be happy with that outcome.
- Companion Pass should live on then - if it becomes harder to earn, there will be less pressure to eliminate or further tweak the program
- 125k isn't that hard... even if you missed the 80k biz offer (which by the way that offer still loads HERE I think)...you can do the 2 biz cards. 70k + 60k = 130k. My math says that's a CP.
- There are also a ton of other ways to get to 125k without 2 biz cards. Perhaps you might lose a few months of the CP polishing off your 125k but that's better than if they killed the benefit altogether.
So do not fret my friends but rather rejoice that instead of killing one of churning's GREATEST benefits, that they have actually protected it for the savvy churner!! If you have been following my advice to earn the CP via 2 Biz Cards this change does NOT affect you at all
Guilty But I did just read it now & it was very informative, Thank you!
Woah woah woah...nobody will be answering this...Ok trying to find out what we should do in Vegas next week. It will be just DH and I no kids this trip. I’ve never been and I don’t think DH has either.
-what’s your favorite restaurant/s
-what’s your favorite show/s
-anything else that’s a must do
Aww that means a lot. Sometimes I just feel like the crazy guy who starts ranting about random CC things again... At least I know that I’m an appreciated crazy guy now@SouthFayetteFan - thanks for your Churning History, Shower Thoughts, and Fireside Chat posts. I really enjoy them and have learned so much from them. I never even knew there was a SW CP until I read this thread. I hope you keep sharing your thoughts!
Well, I’ll let it go this once; but don’t let it happen againGuilty But I did just read it now & it was very informative, Thank you!

I did upon application... gosh it didn't occur to me to check if they were the SAME though.Did you add your Hilton number on the application? My first thought is maybe AMEX assigned you a new number
Go in branch and chat about your sole prop “biz”. It’s pretty easy tbh. You can even check for pre-approved cc while there! (Remember: fixed APR only means pre-approved.)Okay someone please explain this to me a little bit. You just have to open a checking account? What else?
Huh. I logged in. It says 1400 points. They are at least a statement behind. Mine said 25xx, if I log in it’s actually 29xx
They haven’t counted anything from the last statement. If I had spent a bunch it wouldn’t reflect that either.
ETA. Log in to Hilton to see your balance. The “statement” they send isn’t the same as what your account has.
You have Biz: Gold, Plat and Reserve. Gold is the cheapest, especially with the AF waived. It will get you free bags and priority boarding. Plat will be of more interest to you IF you’re paying cash for flights due it’s Companion Fare but make sure the AF is worth it (it probably will be for that distance). Reserve is to be considered if Delta lounges are a priority to you. Assuming you don’t have a DL mile balance wanting just 70k to top off and/or just free bags Plat is probably your best bet. I would Plat one player, use the link we have on DISchurners to generate elevated support links (or message a DISchurners mod for it, like myself , if you don’t see it) and then refer your P2 to the Gold to get the bonus plus referral miles.Question regarding Amex Delta Biz cards, my brain is fried! We were stuck in MCO all day trying to fly to JFK-SEA because of winds in the NE. We fly to SEA regularly to see my son's college football games, so we want to fly direct and hopefully bypass weather conditions and Delta would be the best fit. Any comments/recommendations on which card would fit best for us? We are a party of 3. Thank you
