Flex Pass Superthread: Disneyland Resort Introduces New Annual Passport that Combines Value and Flexibility

I work in retail (odd schedules) and live close enough that this pass seems like a great fit for me. Yes I have to pay for parking and I go about 2 - 3 times a month.

if you go a minimum of 2 times a month, you are already paying $600 in parking, you would already be paying more than a signature pass. you can get one sig pass that includes parking, you will come out ahead

Hi everyone! :)

New guy here, but I'd like to chime in this conversation!

I just bought my Fiancé (who's coming to live with me from Australia next Friday on the 20th, 2 Flexpasses. One for me and one for her. I had the Signature last year and decided to give this new pass a try this year.

I don't live in Anaheim, but im just about an hour drive south in Oceanside. I added on Maxpass for both seeing how much great things I keep hearing about it. That and last year when I went when I had my Signature, I didnt try the Maxpass so was always stuck in super long standby lines.

I work in retail (odd schedules) and live close enough that this pass seems like a great fit for me. Yes I have to pay for parking and I go about 2 - 3 times a month. BUT I rarely buy merchandise and only buy food. Also I think paying $90 month for 2 passes that have in theory the same days available as a signature is a great.

I have not used the passes yet. Waiting for my Fiancé to get here when I give her pass to her for Christmas and go in January.

I messed with the reservation system and it seems very easy to reverse a day. Plus I prefer weekdays anyway.

I will update you guys about my experience when we go next month with the Flexpass :)

Congrats on your engagement. Wishing you and yours the very best! Please post on how your Fiancé enjoyed her present and first trip using her new AP!

Considering starting this pass tomorrow (Sun, Dec 15). It is a reservation-only day. How does this work? Can/Should I buy in advance and make reservations from the app? Should I buy a one-day hopper at the gate and upgrade before the end of the day? Can/should I go to the ticket booth, buy the pass and get a blockout pass?

Seems like some people had pitfalls with this early on.

TIA.

If you start with the flex pass, then you will need a reservation to enter the park and if that's not available for the day, you are out of luck. You will do better to start with a one-day hopper and upgrade. Personally I would buy the hopper in the app so as not to have to wait in the ticket line unless you have passed a time threshold on being able to do that for tomorrow. I don't know if there is a 24-hour advance purchase or some such requirement. Advice had been to only upgrade your ticket to the flex pass at the end of your final day of use and to do so at the ticket booth due to various problems such as no blockout passes being issued, in-app upgrading glitches and so on. My son upgraded his 4-day ticket on his final day of use the Saturday after Thanksgiving. The ticket booth CM offered him a blockout pass for use the remainder of the day, so that issue seems to have been addressed. I would still be reluctant to update within the app because if issues arise better to get them ironed out immediately with an actual person whether it is the front-line CM or a supervisor. You would eventually have to visit a ticket booth anyway if you want to have a physical pass which is still needed for many of the AP discounts.

Reservations for today must have opened at some point during the week b/c my coworker has flex pass and was able to get a reservation. But only for DCA.

We upgraded our October park tickets to FP in the parks. My older DD was not on that trip, so I have just bought her FP on the app for our upcoming January trip. I know I can use the ticket on the app for her to enter the parks (picking up the actual plastic pass at a later time). However, will they give her a paper ticket to use for FPs? Do they give one to us too when we scan into the parks or do we use our plastic AP for getting FPs, etc?

Any thoughts on how crazy it will be to try to get reservations for the Saturday and Sunday right after ROTR opens on Friday? That happens to be when our trip Is planned, not because of the opening of ROTR. I will be on right at 7am PST each of the two mornings, exactly 30 days in advance, hoping for the best. The following Monday (MLK day) is also reservations required, which I guess I won’t be able to book until sometime on that Saturday after we enter the park on our first reservation day. UGH!

Thanks! We ended up doing it all from home on Saturday, and just bought the flex-pass w/hopper through the app. Reservations were available for both parks, so I figured the risk was minimal that they would become unavailable in the 5 minutes it took to purchase the pass. (Obviously, this could have gone south.) Anyway, it worked seamlessly... the barcode in the app is turnstile ready, although we did stop by the ticket booth to get plastic cards for discounts.

Glad it all worked out.

I might upgrade mine to Signature.

Hey all! Thinking of upgrading to these from our 5-day hoppers in January, but a little confused. I want to get an AP because I have a conference in Anaheim the first week of August and would love to sneak in some park time, and possibly bring the family. Am I understanding this correctly that if I get the Flex pass, I would only be able to reserve two days during that week?

Any clarification appreciated! Also, how hard has it been to make reservations? I'm totally OK with being the alarm-setting, exactly-30-days-out person if it means scoring the dates I want!

That is correct. The entire first two weeks of August require reservations for Flex entry into either park. So far it seems to be easy to get reservations if you are doing so right at the 30 day mark but things are always in flux.

Has it been consistent that you can make reservation #3 as soon as you enter park on day #1 or not until the end of day #1?

Also just confirming the reservations open at "exactly" 7am California time? I know it is not exact but it is not Midnight, correct?

No, that has been very inconsistent. Some people are able to reserve right after entry, others not until after midnight that day.

Yes, 7 am California time👍
Thank you! It is weird in that right now (435AM California time), the date (1/18/20)is no longer grayed out on the Reservation calendar like it was yesterday, but when I try to reserve it, it errors out at the last step. I guess the error will go away once it hits 7am? I am able to book 1/11/20, for example, without any problem, so I know it is not an issue with my passes. This is my first time booking the FP, and I am nervous I’m going to mess it up since we are trying to go the day after ROTR opens!!

Yes, I’ve had that happen when it’s the morning of but tried it before 7 since it looked like I could reserve early but it would do the same. But right at or even a minute or two after 7 it worked. It can also be glitchy at times! Fingers crossed you get your dates...I felt the same way when we booked this last weekend at exactly 30 days out since it was the last weekend before block outs and we got it!
