CM rarely get things right. Will be waiting for confirmation from folks that actually have success

the hardest part is those that have worked the plan/credits to work for their family. And then the rules changed. And it’s a big change. Regardless of what the materials have said, this is a huge change in administration
I know phone cms very rarely get most thing correct lol but I did send an email to guest relations (and I haven't found one to give inaccurate info yet) on this particular question since I book two rooms many times and never had a problem sharing my adult credits with other adults.

Yeah - for us this is a minor change, I just want to play it out right and not screw myself in the end.

We have 4 nights of the regular DP on a split stay and I am trying to cover 5 meals with 16 QS credits (which normally would be no problem since they all were just pooled together in the past). The LAST QS meal we're using is BoG for a late breakfast and of course I want to have 2 Adult and 2 Child meals at THAT meal since it is the most expensive. So that leaves me with 12 QS credits to cover 4 meals. Typically we would just order 2A/1C at each of those meals and that would be enough food for our family of 4.

If this change takes affect and I stuck with my plan, I would end up on my last day having only 4 Child Meals left when I went to BoG on our last day. The dollars and cents impact of this is like < $20 - I'm not trying to scam Disney or anything. I'm just sad that some of the flexibility is gone and I'll need to be much more vigilant in accounting for those meals now since I can't just look at it as having "16 QS" now... I'm glad I have 3 weeks to figure it out and I'll just adjust accordingly.

The subbing snack for drink is not a universal given. It is sometimes at resort food court only.
is it PoP that says no but AoA that says yes?
no idea if that little gift will continue or not.

Big issue for me at least is that if places that dont have kids menus, such as Caseys, wont accept kids credits for a QS. Lines can be bad enough let alone finding a seat so you are going to push people to eat at one place in order to avoid multiple stops.

Right now Joey it appears can’t vs won’t. There’s no button on the register. They will need to fix this or be big fat jerks that say kids can have a hot dog

Yeah, they have to fix this part of it.

I’m not surprised that they changed back to dedicated child/adult credits - I couldn’t believe that they weren’t before. We haven’t used the dining plan on any of our trips, but I like to stay on top of the details in case we ever do decide to do it.

If kids have to use a kid credit at Casey’s, they really need to add a kids meal to the menu or take the kids credit for a hot dog. A smaller portion of corn dog nuggets would be nice, with an applesauce pouch, grapes, carrots or something, although I’m sure kids older than mine but younger than 9 can eat a regular portion. Whatever they decide to do, kids meal or not, Casey’s should be able to take a child credit.

The problem with Casey's accepting a child's credit is why would someone pay with an adult credit if they can get the same thing for a child's meal credit? In my party we'll have 5 adults and 2 children. Theoretically, if they accepted child credits, we could use 7 child credits to get everyone a footlong, and then have a surplus of adult credits. It's exactly the sort of loophole they're trying to close with this new policy.

How is this going to work for Buffet restaurants. We will be a party of 7 including 3 children aged 7,6 and 6 and we tend to eat at buffet/family style restaurants because that suits them best. Does this change mean that if we are on the dining plan they will be forced to stick to kids offerings on the buffet or will they be able to eat whatever is on offer?

No - that is not remotely related to what's happening here. Do not worry...

I think all people are entitled to 2 snacks, the only snack change MIGHT be the swapping of CS credits for snacks.
Correct - the snack allotments aren't changing. The concern is that you may no longer be able to swap child QS meals to 3 snacks.

Totally. I think something like a smaller portion of corn dog nuggets with a kid side like carrots, applesauce pouch, etc. would be a solution.

This is not a change back to The way it was.

This is a new designation we’ve never seen before.

Gotcha! I thought they were like this years ago. My mistake!

This is a real bummer. I’ve spent hours and hours planning and making dining reservations. Now I have to go back and scale down and change up our whole itinerary. I guess now the question I have is where do you get the most bang for your buck/credit as far as kids meals? If we’re going to have our 105 lb 9yr old ordering kids meals, they need to be filling! My plan now is to eat at table service locations where we can order multiple kids meals (for adults too) to use up all those credits. Liberty Tree Tavern type places. I’m assuming that we could dine there and my husband use a TS credit on an adult meal and then both my son and myself use a kids credit 🤷🏻‍♀️ There’s nothing saying that I would have to order off the adult menu, is there?

It's totally acceptable. Casey's isn't the only eating option in MK just one that doesn't have kids menu options. Just because people were able to exploit a loophole previously doesn't make it worthy of a guest complaint when they are able to enforce the existing rules.

Moving forward, yes it is acceptable.

However, didn't the rules always state that it needed to be redeemed for a child meal "where available", but could be redeemed for adult meals from CS restaurants without kids menus?

This is not a matter of closing a loophole, it is changing the rules after both parties agreed to the terms. Yes, Disney reserves the right to make changes, doesn't mean it is ethical to sell one product but provide another.
