2020 dining plan changes- game changer! DxDP - any plan changes or credit sharing issues?

They’ll probably just add a kids portion of mac & cheese or a smaller portion of corn dog nuggets as Casey’s kids meal options. Both items are already available and easily sized down for kids. For other locations that don’t have items that can be sized down they could easily add uncrustables as the kids options or just remove the restaurants from the dining plan. I will be surprised if they allow adult meals to be purchased with child dining credits moving forward. Disney is closing the loopholes.

I bet if they add kids meals there will be nothing that resembles Casey’s hot dogs. I do t hunk they may add kids options though

We have used the Dxdp with our son last year and will be using it again this summer. We plan on going to CG brunch again. Last year there was no children’s menu and my son (age 3) was told to order off regular menu. This concerns me...I hope CG for brunch starts offering a children’s menu. I don’t want to have to pay out of packet just for my son because they don’t offer a children’s menu. This is a must do reservation for my family. All other TS it hasn’t been a problem for my son to order off the kids menu.

Don't get the DDP. My son is vegetarian (his choice, the rest of us are omnivores) and we were able to make the DDP work last trip because he could use his QS credits on adult vegetarian meals like the ones at Docking Bay 7 and Satuli Canteen. Otherwise it would have been mac n cheese or uncrustables for every QS meal. We will be paying OOP next trip and hoping to find a RO discount instead of looking for a FD offer.
we will be going that route in the future. I'm locked into my current package so unfortunately its going to be alot of mac n cheese for the kiddos for this upcoming trip.

I've said it before, but I think you'll come out better this way. We haven't done DDP in years because it means that we order the way that we want. We can still eat the character buffets when we want, but when we're going to places that are a la carte, we are paying to eat what we want vs what the dining plan tells us we can order. And it does end up costing less for our family to get a room only deal. (And no, we aren't a couple. We are a family of 5)

This REALLY sucks for us. We are doing a confirmed reservation dvc rental and had just added the dxdp a couple weeks ago. We have a sitter staying offsite that will be onsite with our daughter a lot and we had planned to share with her and just pay out of pocket for our son and daughter or order appetizers for them, etc. I'm trying to see if I can get a refund now but I'm gonna guess not because of how the confirmed reservations work (you're not allowed to buy the point protection).
DVC members may make changes to the dining plan up to 2-3 days before the reservation. The person renting the points to you can make the change if it's allowed in your contract with the company through which you rented points. Good luck!

Does anybody know if you can convert 3 adult snack credits into an adult quick service credit? I had been told that you could do this at the front desk of our hotel...

I can't see a Disney-owned restaurant being removed from dining plan eligibility.
I really don’t think so either. They’ll just add uncrustables to stop the complaints about a lack of kids meals if people insist on a kids menu being offered at every location. People are still looking for another loophole since Disney just closed the biggest one. The ability to purchase adult meals with a kids credit at a location without a kids menu is their last hope. Seriously check the math you are all probably better off paying out of pocket with these changes and your kid won’t have to eat a mountain of uncrustables and mac & cheese. If you’re stuck with the plan there are many choices beyond that if you take the time to actually look at all of the kids quick service menus. Sunshine Seasons alone has some great options.

In the UK you often get a free dining deal that is bigger than the US version. If it comes out again this year for 2021. Would people be better off putting all the kids down as adults for the dining plan? Currently the difference between an ultimate pass for adults and kids is £30 so tickets are not that more expensive.

Does anyone have any experience with Disney questioning kids who are clearly under 10 using an adults dining plan?
We always booked our trips this way when free dining was offered. We would pay to upgrade the ticket and the kids received adult meal plans. My kids like steak and it is not offered on the kids menu so it was a no brainer. They never said a word about our kids looking under 9 years old.

I don’t think you’ll have a problem. Cali grill brunch has a child’s price they charge just like a buffet. A child is able to eat whatever they want on a buffet and they seem to treat this the same way since it’s technically an all you care to eat experience.

The only time I’d be worried would be if there was no longer a child’s price. Then I would imagine it would be 2 adult credits, but I would expect them to add a child’s menu before they did something like that.

Thank you for talking me down! I forgot they have a child’s price and how they treat it more like a buffet. I was getting upset thinking we wouldn’t be able to enjoy our favorite meal.

I am crossing my fingers that they will let me!!! I sent an email today.

I’m seeing reports in some TA groups that child credits (with 2020 check ins) are exchanging for 0, 1, 2, or 3 snacks depending. I know this isn’t an official change and there will likely be no “official” statement, but I’d LOVE some “official” clarification before our trip in two weeks, if for no other reason than to just know for sure what if any exchange rate there is. January trips are my favorite but I also love going later in the year when all the “New Year” kinks are worked out.

Children will expected to be confined to the 'Children's Section" of all buffets going forward. That about does it for us with the Dining plan. We (DVC) are going with another family with 3 children (9, 8 & 5) in the summer. The DP makes it easier to handle $$ but I cannot imagine confining the children to the choices at the Children's section. It was going to be tough enough at Flame Tree and other places but we could get around it. Not so much at Character Dining.

I am not trying to contest what you have been told, but this is hard to believe... how would they reinforce it? And how would they explain this to people who are not on the dining plan and are paying a premium price for a kids buffet?
Sorry but I think this CM did not know what he was talking about!

How in the world would they enforce this? Are they going to ID kids at the buffet line? Give you a wristband like at a bar? Is your server going to inspect the plates you bring back to the table and charge you an adult price if there’s something from that section on your plate?
Not arguing with you of course, just genuinely curious how this would even work.

What??
That can’t be enforced. Adults often get a plate for their kids and bring it to the table.

Hey kids.........No Soup for You!!!!
