Rumor about “modified experiences” when Disney reopens (read 1st post for potential modifications being considered)

I don't feel safe with the resort we picked and probably can't get too excited that we will be promised an alternative room. I wanted to alleviate some suspense in an hour but it will just be beginning. People will start filling open spaces. Would I get cancelled altogether if they decide on a whim to close POFQ and get booked full everywhere else?
My guess is, if your resort isn't open, you'd get moved. I don't think there's a chance they're going to hit capacity at the resorts anytime soon. This is stressful until we find out- so much has changed we just can't count on the way they used to do things. I'm right there in that boat with you waiting to find out if what they're doing is going to put a halt to our trip entirely.

They are talking things like misters.. think the mist you go through on pirates. Since covid spreads as droplets those are an easy way for it to be moved from one person to another. Yes they are clorinated but clorine while it kills the virus doesn't kill it "on contact". It would be there long enough where it could spread to a person behind you through a mister.

So then water rides would most likely still be working?

How far into the conference will we know? I want this over with. I don't understand turning water features off attractions while opening the whole water park. Backwards logic.

The problem with water rides is different since you have the M word situation. Don't want to get those wet. Things like pirates and small world woiuld be fine. Splash and Kali could be an issue.

Oh yes, forgot about that. :(

Since we are all taking guesses, I will go ahead and take a guess too (note: like others here, this is completely me having fun, taking a guess and trying to anticipate what their proposal today will have, since the wait is killing me)!
  • Phased Opening
  • Phase 1: MK and DHS soft open first (around mid-June/week of June 22).
    • Parks open at 30% capacity; slowly increase capacity every few weeks.
    • 50% ferry capacity on MK and DHS ferries.
    • Face coverings required for CMs and guests everywhere - indoor and outdoor.
    • Temperature checks for CMs and guests.
    • No character meets.
    • No indoor shows.
    • No fireworks, parades or stadium seating shows (no HEA, no Epcot Forever, no RoL, no Fantasmic)
    • Character buffets will be served cafeteria style. Characters will make an appearance, but will not go table by table to meet guests.
    • TS and QS restaurants open at 50% capacity, every other table blocked.
    • QS is all mobile ordering.
    • Hand washing and sanitizing stations placed at the entrance/exit of every attraction.
    • Markings on the ground to indicate 6 feet of social distancing at queues.
    • No standby line. Only FP and virtual queues.
  • Phase 2: Resorts open about two weeks after MK and DHS (early July?) with transportation, at 50% capacity. Some resorts will remain closed and guests will be moved to sister resorts (e.g., POFQ to POR, All Stars sections consolidated).
  • Phase 3: AK and 1 water park open later, all parks' capacity increased to 50% capacity (mid-July?).
  • Phase 4: Epcot reopens later (August?)

  • NBA deal will be a go with a fairly tight bubble (but will not go into detail today since it does not affect the parks and they need owners and players to vote on it). They will be housed at CSR with players arriving early-mid July (after accommodations done to CSR), games starting end of July and continuing through September. CSR guests will be moved to CR.

Do we think all resorts will open at once whenever they open them? If they do close any, will they prioritize offering other rooms to these people or could they get pushed out if other people fill those spots? I'm starting to regret our hotel choice. I feel like it's the most likely to get excluded in the re-opening because it's small.

Disney isn't going to let people who think they have hotel reservations show up just to be told "Sorry, you don't actually have a reservation here, and we're not putting you anywhere else, either. You're on your own, kid."

There's nothing legally that says hotels have to offer you other accommodations, but industry policy is that they do and will. Sure, in the days of covid, anything is possible now, but I seriously doubt Disney isn't going to give you an alternative if your booked hotel isn't available for some reason. Might not be an alternative you like, but I feel sure they'll offer some way to take care of you.

Take a dee
p breath. :goodvibes I know this is all really stressful and super frustrating. :grouphug:

SeaWorld is presenting first, so we still won't have answers as soon as the conference starts, but we'll have them in a couple of hours. If it's like UO's presentation, it won't be all the answers everyone wants to know right this second, but it will be some solid info.

Yeah the majority of the presentation will be the normal stuff.. masks, temp checks, social distencing, mobile ordering, virtual queues, lowered capacity etc. Seaworld will look a look like UO and disney will look a lot like both of those. Disney mainly due to MK is going to likely have to touch on transportation and if wdw isn't planning to open all 4 parks they'll likely need to cover that. Doubt we'll hear much if anything at the meeting on the resorts since they don't need permisson to re-open.

So Universal is turning off all water features - isn't the water chlorinated? I don't understand turning off chlorinated water.

If Disney really only opens 2 parks and 3 hotels or something like that, won't most people's trips go from 7 days to 4? :D

Honestly, I hope everyone gets the news they want so they can travel, but I am so happy we aren't going until next year and hope to god things are back to almost normal by then.
Wet mask = Bad

Seems plausible. Where in your prediction do you see all resorts being open?

I agree with all of that, it is logical and my guess is you're more right than wrong. My only change would be the first soft open date, I am guessing it's after July 4th.

Is this meeting only about tourism? I’m wondering why everyone is so excited? Is it something worth watching is really my question lol
